After seeing how some barber shops out here in the Queen City prefer appointments, I called ahead to make sure they accepted walk ins and they said they'd see me in 20. Walked through the door, and Ricky King was my barber, and that's how he treated me. Took his time to see what I wanted and started out conservative as he said he could always cut off more hair. Like all pro he made sure to clean up my ears and eyebrows, something that some places tend to forget, then finished off with a hot latter and straight razor. By reviews, this was the best place on yelp in Charlotte, and the price was fair. As a rant, I get irritated at those barber shops that are upscale, give a mediocre cut, and charge top dollar. This place was down to earth, has a pedigree of being in business since the 60's, has been updated over the years, but still has that classic feel. If I'm in town needing a cut, this is my new tow to shop! read more

Cash or check only - no credit cards! Turn on Robin at the NCBT and it's on the left. Don't forget to tip, these guys deserve it. There were four or five guys working at their barber stations when I went in and none had hair longer than a quarter of an inch so I was a little nervous. But they handled my "prissy" hair very nicely with clippers and a comb. Hot shaving cream and a straight razor finish for the back of the neck. I came out looking very respectable for the wedding reception I had to go to later in the day. It doesn't look like much on the inside but they are turning people out quickly so you won't wait long. They finished up some dads with their sons while I was there and I'm guessing they could handle a football team in short order. read more

A great Hair cut for $16 bucks, A little more than what I paid in Jacksonville Fl, But a lot less than most REAL barber/ Salons in Charlotte. Helpful, Fast, Friendly, Reminded me of a place that should have a morning social like Floyds Barber shop in the AM. I have to admit that I've never been to a barber. I've tried different hair salons, etc., over the years, but never a barber. (Except when I went a couple of times as a kid with my grandpa and just sat and watched.) Until recently, I never even considered (or thought about going to) a barber. Because I've never been very happy with the results I've gotten at various hair salons over the past 25 or so years, I've always just trimmed my own hair at home. Every few years, I've ventured out and given someplace new a try, only to be disappointed and found that I could have saved myself the money and done a better job at home myself. I was always hopeful that I'd find someone to cut my hair the way I wanted it. When I saw a posting on NextDoor about a new barber (Steve) in the neighborhood who was working at Cotswold Barber Shop (that I've never heard of or seen before), I decided to give it another go, having never been to a barber. I called and easily made an appointment. Thankfully, armed with GPS and photos of the shop, I was able to find it down a side street in Cotswold I've never even really noticed before behind South State Bank on Sharon Amity Rd. There was plenty of parking behind the building. I had read from another review on Yelp that they don't take credit cards, so I made sure to stop by an ATM beforehand, seeing that I rarely carry cash. It's not a glamorous establishment, but it was surprisingly crowded. I was early for my appointment, but didn't have to wait long. Steve was very personable and did a fantastic and professional job with my hair. He listened to what I wanted and did exactly that and more. It was over and done with in only 15 minutes or so. I was very impressed with Steve's skill, speed, and friendliness. When I go back in several weeks for my next haircut, it'll be the first time ever that I've been a repeat customer to any hair business since I was a kid. That says a lot. I had a haircut appointment at 5 (right before closing) and felt rushed the whole time. I said to keep the same style and only take a little off. Instead, he proceeded to use a buzzer and butchered the sides and back of my hair - cutting it extremely short. The haircut is extremely choppy and uneven - would not recommend. read more

Nice find tucked away in Cotswold. Good haircut, decent service, and you're out in less than 30 minutes for around $20. Whenever you are going to a new spot to get your hair cut you are always a little wary. Last several cuts I've got have been at salons, so I had high expectations already. Looking for a new barber shop, I stumbled upon cotswold barber. Gave them a call and they were able to get me in within 30 minutes. The shop was extremely old timey which made for a pretty cool ambiance. 6 chairs full of customers. Steve Roberts was my barber. He was more than professional. Didn't talk to much, nor too little. Gave me his card and told me to come see him from now on. Definitely a customer to Steve from here on out. Reccomend this place to anyone. One of the best cuts I have ever had. read more

I have tried half a dozen barbershops over the course of my three years living in Charlotte, Cotswold is easily the best! Maybe a little out of the way, but worth the journey. I've never waited more than 15 minutes as a walk-in. The price is very reasonable ($16) for a men's haircut. I've had the same barber both visits so far and he has done a great job. There are also 4 or 5 other barbers that work there. I won't be going anywhere else in the future, and I suggest you start going here as well. read more

Great long established Charlotte barbershop. Colin at Cotswold is great and is the only (skilled) person I've found for a straight razor head shave and a beard trim. Everyone is friendly and it seems like generations of families - from kids to grandparents - are patrons here. read more

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. Just as a walk in but I got right into a chair with Ricky. Told him what I wanted, scissor trim all around, and he recommended a scissor top and trimmer side. He was right! Couldn't be happier with the service. Will be back again before Christmas. I have lived in Charlotte since 2011, and was anxious to find a reliable barber. I was turned on to this place and haven't stopped going even though I now live 30 mins away. I've had my haircut by all the barbers that work there, and they are all awesome. I like knowing that I can just show up and get the next available barber without worry if their skills. First time trying this barber shop and it was ok. I was wary of trying a new barber but had heard from a friend that I should try it. Definitely not a new or trendy place, very dated and retro. About my cut....Nice guy, very very friendly and very very very talkative. From the moment I sat down til I got up, this guy talked the entire time. I appreciate friendliness but I also come to get a cut and fade while relaxing myself. I was very uncomfortable from the moment he started. Literally asking me question after question and trying to answer while the clippers and air compressor were going was a mess. Haircut was ok. I mean I've had way worse but also much better as well. I feel like if he would have focused more on my haircut rather than trying to be my bestie it would have turned out better. He also never asked if I wanted my beard trimmed and I had to ask him to take some off the top. If only he would stop talking and pay attention. Give me a couple good cuts first, then let's talk, ok? Possibly the worst cut experience I've had in my life. He didn't listen to anything I said. And just did whatever he felt like. And even that was done horribly. Uneven all over the place , one side longer than the other, edge's not trimmed. Just a complete mess. And when I mentioned anything to him politely, he would argue with me. It was so horrible that I just paid to get out of there, and went down the street to get my hair cut somewhere else. read more
