I had Modern Media wall mount 4 inside tvs, one patio tv, set up multiple speaker zones in my house, and wire my media room and upgrade the speaker arrangement to support Atmos sound. I highly recommend them. Before I further describe my great experience with Modern Media, let me share my experience with other companies as I searched for a company to do my job. I went to Best Buy and talked to their Magnolia people who offered to come by the house. I walked them through my house a couple days later showing them what I had in mind. They left and promised to get back to me in a couple of days with an estimate. Two weeks later... I finally get a voicemail asking me if I still wanted to set up my tvs. No estimate and no real follow through. About what you expect from a big box. I called another company I found with high ratings on Yelp and after explaining the basics of what I wanted I was quickly told me they were booked out at least 30 days and I was looking at a starting price of $20K. He clearly did not want my business. Another company did not call me back for 3 weeks and yet another offered to come by and then never showed up. When I spoke to Todd from Modern Media, he asked a few questions about what I wanted and then quickly set up an appointment to come by and look at my setup. He talked through some options with me and made some great suggestions on how I could save a little money while still getting what I wanted. Within 24 hours Todd had provided me a full written estimate including the equipment he was recommending (he also worked with the existing equipment I had). Once we agreed on the price and scope of the project, Todd got his crews to work within a couple of days. The quality of their work was great! As an example, I had a 65 inch LED mounted inside of an existing build in wall unit. Wall mounting enable me to fit the 65" rather than placing a 60' on a stand. The mounting was a bit complicated due to the cabinetry, but by the time Todd's guys were through, they had it perfectly positioned so that it sits perfectly within the cabinet and almost looks flush mounted. Todd took the time to show both my wife and I how the new equipment worked. He programmed the universal remotes and showed us how to use an App for my receiver. My wife had one issue with the way the living room was set up. Modern Media didn't do anything wrong, it was just a preference for the way our zone 2 worked. Todd had his guys rewire the receiver to do what my wife asked without any additional charge. So, my system works great and my wife and I are really enjoying watching movies with the Atmos sound that Todd recommended and set up. Besides that, the best part of working with Modern Media is that in the end, the final bill was about a $1000 below the original estimate (and well below half of the price the guy quoted me on the phone) because Todd's guys found some additional savings. I will definitely use Modern Media again in the future. They are a small company that takes pride in their work and they are truly interested in satisfying their customers. My house is 15 years old and much of the equipment in my Media Room was "state of the art" when it was built.... As a result, there was a labyrinth of wires and connections in my Media Room (some of the technology no longer used today) that provided several services to my house and outdoor living areas. I began having problems with the sound in my Media room that seemed relatively minor to me but was preventing my family from using it. I preferred to leave most of the old technology which centrally controlled the house as is and just fix the sound in the media room. In addition, I wanted to add some technology related to a new piece of equipment. After watching a few You Tube videos and glancing at the instructions that came with my in-wall speakers, I was ready to move forward and install my surround sound unit in the living room of my new home. About 10 minutes later I was on Angie's List trying to find a professional company to come out and finish the installation and fix the huge hole I had incorrectly cut into the wall of my living room. That's when I came across Modern Media... They had rave reviews and a perfect rating on Angie's List. My initial thought was this company sounds too good to be true. I chose this company after reading the reviews from past customers. I was not disappointed. From the beginning of our first telephone contact, Todd Forgan, the owner, treated my project like it was just as important as the much more expensive projects he had done. After discussing the job over the phone, I decided to use his services and was scheduled within the week. Todd and his colleague Mike, arrived promptly and began work by taking a quick survey of the job to be done. Throughout, Mike walked me through the process of the new installation from relocating the electrical and cable outlets. I wanted to make sure the new installation was clean and that all the wires and connections were neatly hidden within the walls. The only hiccup came when they removed the 55 inch from its original location to replace it with the new 60 inch TV. After the new TV was mounted and they powered it on to go through the set-up, they discovered it was defective. I immediately contacted the dealer and made plans to have a new set delivered. In the meantime, while I was working the details with the dealer, Todd and Mike went to work installing the 55 inch. By the time I was done talking to the dealer, they were about finished with the installation and were ready for me to come and check placement of the TV set. In spite of the disappointment of having received a defective product, I was extremely pleased wit the work they were able to do and the care they took with my home. Todd, without hesitation offered to return at no charge when the new TV arrived so they could again through the process of mounting it for me. True to his word, he and Mike came out the same day the new set arrived, after they had finished a job they started earlier that day. If that wasn't enough, Todd noticed that my wife and I had been listening to the radio through our built-in sound system and asked where it was connected. He explained that he thought only one channel was operating from the pair of speakers in the living room ceiling. His curiosity got the best of him and he proceeded to troubleshoot the speaker connections. In the end, he had spent an additional 15 to 20 minutes checking and correcting some loose connections in a the closet where the speaker connections were made. We had never noticed that the speakers were not operating properly. He went the extra mile for something he had no obligation to do. We hired Modern Media to create a complete AV solution for our new media room. To begin the project, I contacted 4 competitors via email (all highly rated on Angie's List and other review sites) to set-up my new media room. Three were prompt to respond, and I received free in-home quotes for each. All three businesses provided reasonable quotes, with various differences in their approaches and equipment. After analyzing all the quotes with follow-up questions, I chose Modern Media (Todd Forgan) for the installation for the following reasons: (1) Incredibly quick and detailed responses to technical and cost questions; (2) Known high quality components quoted (Yamaha receiver, Polk Audio speakers, Epson Pro projector, etc.); (3) Multiple priced options (with good technical detail) for different projectors and speakers; (4) Universal Remote solution that allows ME (not a technician) to reprogram it as I choose, when I choose; (5) Flexibility to my upgrade choices as we completed the component selections; (6) Reasonable, fair pricing, and several options to maximize my value regarding equipment selection; (7) Could start work within the week, and estimated completion within 2 days of start. After we discussed equipment, and set the schedule with Mike (his primary installer), Todd ordered my selected AV gear. On installation day(s), Mike was prompt, professional, and worked efficiently on the install, including full cleanup each day. Mike was also very flexible with us regarding availability to the space/house, when we needed a few hours away from home on the second setup day. When complete, he spent about 90 minutes going through the operation of the room, including set-up of the Universal Remote. He also troubleshot a minor IR/remote issue at that time (fixed on the spot), and spent about 2 hours going through very technical aspect of the install and working with me to ensure I was 100% satisfied, and understood the working of the gear. I contacted Modern Media via email early Saturday morning. Within 45 minutes, Todd called me back. I asked a few questions, told Todd what I was looking for, and wanted to schedule an appointment for an estimate. Todd was in Frisco at the time giving another estimate but asked if that day would work for me. We live in NW Ft. Worth, so I knew it was quite a drive for him that day, but he didn't have a problem with coming all that way, which I really appreciated since I only have weekends off. From the moment I met Todd, I felt compfortable with him. After arriving, Todd spent the next 2+ hours with me explaining everything to me in detail, and answering every one of my many questions. I had a budget in mind, so Todd created two estimates, one with my budget in mind and one with what we had talked about while he was at our home. After going over them, I sent Todd a couple more emails with my thoughts on how to bring the system and cost in somewhere in the middle. He gave me his honest opinion as to what he thought would sound great as well as give me most of what I wanted without blowing my budget. I agreed with what he proposed and we set the installation date. I arrived home when they were just finishing up the installation, at which time Todd went over eveyrthing with me. The quality of their work was outstanding. The system that was installed exceeded my expectations in every way. Todd's honesty is something that is very uncommon these days, and I appreciated it more than anything. To give you an example, when I was asking for the amount owed (I didn't have the estimate in front of me), Todd jumped on his laptop and started going over the numbers. It was at this time that made a big impression with me... Todd actually deducted items off of the estimate that were not used in the installation. This meant a great deal to us as most companies we have dealt with would have just collected the original estimate amount. I typically get 2 or 3 estimates for such a large purchase, but I was always comfortable with Todd and trusted him from the beginning so I didn't bother to call anyone else, and I am glad I didn't. My journey of designing and planning for a home theater began by reading all that I could find regarding home theaters. Of course I spent a great amount of time pondering the design, the type of components, budget, etc. The many questions only added to my research. Fortunately, I had six months to plan while my new home was built. Once I was comfortable with having a decent idea on what I wanted, I began interviewing installers. I interviewed six other installers and none of them came close to Todd's genuine approach of truly wanting to know his clients' wishes. Todd walked me through each step of home theater design and even volunteered to examine and ensure proper wiring was installed when my builder framed the home theater room. Upon examination, Todd accurately assessed that the wiring installed by my builder did not meet the specifications for the Goldenear speakers that I had chosen. On a Sunday afternoon, Todd rewired the room and made sure that the speaker outlets were in the proper locations. No other installer identified and/or discussed how builders rarely use suitable speaker wire and how it is best to locate the speakers in the proper locations before the drywall was installed. Todd's exceptional service does not stop with him applying his excellent knowledge to your project. For example, I required the absolute latest Sony projector for my home theater. Unfortunately, Sony experienced supply issues due to the popularity of the new model. Todd recognized and appreciated my desire for this particular projector, so he volunteered for me to use a projector he had until the new Sony projector came in. Todd immediately installed the demo projector so that my family can enjoy the home theater. Due to Sony's significant challenges to supply the new projectors to the market, this wait lasted three months. Todd and his team (Mike and Spencer) did an incredible job on my new home theater and living room. The customer service was outstanding and the finished product is spectacular. My family and I will definitely enjoy both rooms for years to come...not to mention our friends too. Everyone is blown away by the quality of sound from my Polk Audio speakers driven by a Yamaha receiver and the clarity of our Epson 3020 Powerlite Projector (all recommended by Todd to maximize my bang for the buck). I gave him a price point and he nailed it. I did my research and he certainly kept his word on maximizing the quality while keeping it within my price range. If you want to complete a project like this "DIY" style, you will waste countless hours and spend extra money attempting to achieve the same results. Building a media room can be an expensive proposition, and my wife and I wanted to be sure that we would get a fair deal and excellent quality of work with someone we felt we could trust. We shopped with multiple vendors and never really felt comfortable with any of them. We always felt like we were being treated like just another quote that the sales person had to fill out. Then we met with Todd from Modern Media. Todd came and visited with us on several occasions, taking the time to really talk to us and understand what we wanted to get out of our media room. He spent time researching and investigating different options for us, each time talking to us about the pros and cons of what each option entailed. The team at Modern Media are excellent at their craft. Whether you are like myself, kind of lost with regards to Information Technology and smart homes or you are already smart home smart, I can't recommend the folks at Modern Media enough. They come in and listen to the customer, then they show you things you may be unaware of and before you know it, your home is smarter than you ever thought possible. What I really liked was that I never felt pressured or upsold. The owner, Todd Forgan, provides that personal touch ensuring you understand everything that is being done and can talk technology at the Doctorate level all the way down to the 3rd grade level ensuring anyone can understand his message. My only regret was going with someone else to install my home theater system. Their customer service was cold and they left me feeling like I was a number and not a name. For me, I had Modern Media purchase and install TV's on brick fireplaces, improve my home wi-fi systems, add camera systems surrounding my home, install smart light systems throughout the lower level (which are way cooler than I can describe) and added a smart / camera doorbell and smart lock on my front door. I cannot recommend Modern Media enough if you are considering taking your home to the next level. Todd and his team did an outstanding job from start to finish. Todd came out and me with us, reviewed what we wanted to do in the media room, family room, and patio. He put a quote together in less than 24 hours for us to review. The quote provided options for a range of speaker options to provide alternative costs. Ultimately, we asked Todd to revise his quote for a different way of connecting all the rooms together. Again, he did this and did it in just a few hours. We scheduled the installation for the following week. Todd came out with his team and reviewed what we wanted and where. The room looks and sounds great! Todd from Modern Media made the choice of contractor easy. He arrived promptly for the estimate, and helped tremendously with choosing the equipment that worked for my budget. He offered references of previous installs, and I was able to visit with the previous customer and get their review. The Epson projector on the 92" screen is perfect for my small media room. The picture looks great, even with the sconce lights on. The Yamaha sound system blew us away, especially watching the dinosaurs on Jurassic Park. The kids love it, but the only problem is, they never want to come out of the media room now. Todd and crew were very professional during the install - arrived exactly on time and cleaned up after themselves. Speakers were recessed, and painted to match the wall color. Both Todd and Mike were thorough and patient when explaining how to use the equipment, especially the all powerful remote! I even used Todd's recommendation for a painter to paint the room before the install. The cost was about 1/2 my other estimates. Todd purchased all of the equipment, so the system was truly "turnkey". My check of equipment prices showed me Todd was giving better prices than I could find, so I truly believe I got the best value for my money. Okay, I seriously considered crawling under our 75 year old house to wire my vintage JBL speakers myself. I couldn't be prouder, nor more protective of these babies because James B. Lansing was my Grandfather. Ultimately, the "respect for quality sound" gene I inherited beat out the "don't pay someone to do something you can do yourself" gene I also carry, and I called in the uber professional, uber kind, uber knowledgeable Todd from Modern Media. They installed a new 70" television for me including surround in my family room, a 110" screen and projector with surround in my theater room, and three more televisions in various rooms including one outside in the brick wall of our covered patio area. Todd Forgan and his Modern Media technicians installed a home theater system in our home including a Yamaha receiver, 5.1 speaker system, and a programmed Harmony 650 remote control. From start to finish, Modern Media was a professional, experienced, and extremely knowledgeable company to work with. Todd guided us through the selection of equipment, even giving suggestions on an entertainment console to house the equipment in. They showed up on time, installed the system, including four in-wall speakers flawlessly with no mess, and instructed us on the use of the new system. My previous "system" included a JVC receiver I purchased in 1985 and two speakers a friend had made for my wife when she was in junior high! We had a great experience working with Todd. We have always built our homes in prior relocations and created our home audio and video to our specific needs. This time we bought an existing home with existing infrastructure. Working on a phased program, Todd has done a superb job at integrating our existing equipment with new equipment in building out whole house music and a surround system in our family room.
