completely ignore you when you are waiting for service. you can stand there for 45 mins and when they FINALLY bother to come to the gun counter, they help the guy that got there 5 minutes ago and completely ignore whoever was there first, or the order they arrived. theyve lost at least 3 sales from me doing that crap. read more

Went in morning to find a replacement for my current edc gun. When I walked in it looked like I was the only customer in there as this was around 0930. The store opened at 0900. The staff were all huddled around each other bs'ing. I already knew which gun I wanted to look at and waited 15-20 minutes while they were chatting it up. I was outnumbered by the employees 3 to 1 and not one even bothered. Only after I got fed up and started walking out the door did one of the girl asked if I was helped. Of course not you idiot, you all were bs'ing while I was just staring through the glass at the gun I wanted to look at for the last 15-20 minutes. Beware if you stop here because the employees rather talk about what tv shows that they watched last night than help you. read more

I purchased a revolver at a Gun Show in San Antonio and when I took it to the range, it wouldn't fire. The firing pin was making just a slight indentation in the primer but not enough to fire the bullets. I called a shop (that will go unnamed) and they said it would be impossible to analyze the problem over the phone and to bring the gun to their shop and they'll look it over. The next day I did just that but my reception was ice cold. The two fellows working in the shop were clueless when it came to my gun and seemed disinterested in helping me. Basically they just threw out all kinds of "maybe it is this" and "maybe it is that" but didn't offer to try and fix the gun. So I went to Modern Pawn. Their gunsmith was fantastic. I explained the problem and he set about trying to fix the gun. He spent about one hour working on the firing pin but the gun would never fire more than about 2/3rds of the rounds in the cylinder. The gunsmith said it was probably a problem with the firing pin and suggested I purchase a new one from an on-line retail supplier. I did as he suggested, installed the new firing pin and all is well with the world. My gun fires first time, every time. The customer service I received from Modern Pawn was commendable. It is rare to receive that kind of professional attention. In fact, today (about one week after my first visit to Modern Pawn) after successfully firing the gun I went back to Modern Pawn to let the gunsmith know the results of his recommendation. Expecting to need to identify myself and my gun, and explain what had been wrong with my gun --- I was completely surprised when the gunsmith knew before I got one word out who I was and asked me if replacing the firing pin fixed the gun. I told him yes, and again thanked him for his fantastic service. Having spent over an hour while the gunsmith worked on my gun during my first visit to Modern Pawn, I had the chance to observe very closely the conduct of the sales personnel. They were all first class. Each took all the time necessary to help each customer with their specific issues and questions. All the sales reps seemed really concerned that each customer was helped in such a way (whether they bought anything or not) that made sure all their questions and concerns were thoroughly answered. One thing is for sure --- compared to my experiences with other gun shops in the Corpus Christi area, this shop is tops. They now have me as a loyal customer and I recommend them to all my friends and neighbors. So if personalized and first rate service is important to you, take your business to Modern Pawn. You'll notice once inside that it is not like your average pawn shop. It is about 95% guns and gun related items --- so in my mind it is more of a gun shop than a pawn shop. Of course prices can be negotiated on used guns and their prices for new guns is the same as most retailers. What you do get here that you won't get from other gun shops or large retailers is service after the sale. Plus they can retrofit your gun to a myriad of configurations. So whether you want a new or used or special-purpose weapon, visit Modern Pawn first. You'll be glad you did and you'll save time and money running around from one shop to another. I'm glad I waited to leave my review. What was a 5 star review for service and inventory plummeted today when my husband brought in the Kimber Crimson Trace Pro Carry I bought for him recently. Approx one week ago he picked up the gun, as we had to wait (like always) on a BGC hold, and after finally taking the piece to the range last Tuesday out in Uvalde where we have a place, the damn laser stopped working. It would start to dim within 1 second of pressing the sensor. So this morning he brought the $1,300 handgun in for a replacement battery and THEY MADE HIM PAY FOR IT. You have the nerve to sell us a gun with a dead CTC laser and don't have the common decency to rectify it by simply replacing the $20 battery? We had intentions of making many more purchases at this store for the aforementioned reasoning, but due to this crap customer service, we will just use a $20 FFL and shop at Bud's. read more

Thank you for the sacrifices you have made to help me maintain my constitutional rights of free speech, and the ability to keep and bear Arms. I am a medically retired service member searching the state for good deals. As you can see on the Modern Pawn and Gun website, that the PWS weapon system is a good deal. However, what is on the website, and what you get is not the same. Underneath a picture of the item there are two descriptions of what is attached to the item. One states BCM accessories, the other description has Magpul. The picture has some kind of pop-up sites attached which are not included on the weapon system. Now once you place the order online you will receive a conformation email telling you the order has been placed, and you will be called once the order is in. Expect no call. Expect to call the establishment to get a sit-rep on your items. As per the website online purchase policy; If an item's description contains an error such as incorrect photo, price, accessory or description and a customer makes the order, we will not process the order without first contacting the customer. If the order is mistakenly shipped, we may advise the customer to return the item in an unopened condition and we will refund the customer. By placing an order, the customer agrees that Modern Pawn & Guns will be the final arbiter of discrepancies in the online catalog. Now approximately a week or so later (when I call to verify my purchase is there) I take a drive from central Texas to pick up my items. The store itself was in good order. Scanning from left to right. You see an assortment of rifles, to glass cases filled with optics, to attachment accessories hanging on the walls. Center rear you have the main register, and what appears to be a store room/gun smithing in the rear, with workers walking back and forth. Once I was seen by an associate I told them I wanted to pick up my online orders. Yes plural. I also ordered a scoped rifle to see if they would bore sight it in. They did. Paperwork as always. But overheard a worker asking what to do with a pile of it as he shuffled through them. Not very reassuring to me. Got my PWS, and continued to inspect the item. Asked about the online description, and what I had. The older gentleman there told me they don't really keep track of the online purchases. I can buy a pizza at domino's for less than 8 bucks. They have a pizza tracker to show the process of my pizza being made and when it is ready for pick up, but i cant even get a phone call after dropping at least 2 grand on guns?!
