I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Brian Hutto of Modesto Oral Surgery for a tooth extraction that I had dragged my feet to do. Dr. Hutto explained during my consultative visit that he thought that the extraction was the best choice for this tooth. I returned for the procedure in a a couple of weeks after receiving necessary medication for pain and anxiety for the procedure. I took the pill 45 minutes prior to the appointment and after excellent local anesthesia the tooth was removed without pain with my groggy cooperation. After the procedure was finished without pain and with good explanation during the surgery with a few painless sutures I was driven home by my patiently waiting wife with an antibiotic and pain pils and anti nausea pills. I had no post operative nausea and took only one pill for pain in about 3 hours after the operation. I'm so grateful to Dr. Hutto and his staff for their patience and explanations for this challenging (for me) procedure! read more

Worst dental experience of my life! After waking up from surgery, I looked in the mirror and realized my 4 teeth had been shipped badly. I was devastated. My beautiful smile looked like the movie, dumb and dumber after they were done with my front teeth. He refused to admit responsibility or apologize. However, he did try to work with me on resolving it because I was freaking out. They gave me an extremely small refund, not very much. He also did a terrible patch job trying to fix my front teeth. I later had to have that fixed by another dentist. They had to shave my teeth short to make them line up on the bottom and I lost a lot of length. He also accidentally yanked the implant he had just surgically put into my jaw out. He was so aggressive in putting in a temporary crown that he yanked the implant loose. I had to have the implant taken back out, then had to put bone graft in and let it heal for six months. I had to go to another doctor to start all over again. Finally a year, a ton of extra expense, ruined front teeth and smile and some PTSD, I have an implant. What he could've done was apologize and give a full refund. read more

At first I thought this place was nice but wow 2nd appointment here and as im waiting in the lobby to be called in all of the receptionist are in a circle gossiping and shit talking patients. Not sure if they thought they whispering but they weren't. 5 minutes later they're talking about a different patient who was a Spanish speaker and how irritating it was to deal with them. Best. Oral. Surgeon. Ever. Hands down. And I mean it. HANDS DOWN the best place to go to for oral surgery. Here is some background story about me..... I am 27 and always known I had wisdom teeth. I have been to four different places for consultation and all said the same thing. That they will not do it and do not recommend me taking them out. Why you ask? It is too tough of a case and has a high chance to give me permanent nerve damage. Obviously, this is not something anyone would want to hear and very discouraging. So I stopped looking for awhile and went on in life. Recently, by word of mouth I heard of Dr. Hutto's office and decided to check him out. Everyone.... he basically changed my life for the better!! I made an appointment easily via phone. This place is so booked and popular you will be making appointments several weeks or months in advance. It needs to be said that the staff here are incredible. They are so inviting and hospitable upon you walking through that door. I met up with Dr. Hutto and he was very confident in being able to complete my tough, complex case. He is the first one EVER to acknowledge my situation and willing to give it a try (otherwise it will cause me even more damage if not taken out soon). An appointment was made and by early in the morning I was laying in the surgical room and out on wheels in 1.5-2 hours. The surgery was a success! I could not have been happier about the outcome. Dr. Hutto and all of his staff here have been amazing and even still accommodating to my questions, needs, or concerns weeks after my surgery. I've had problems with my wisdom teeth for years and going to doctors/dentists in general gives me extreme anxiety. That being said, Dr. Hutto and his team/staff made sure I was comfortable and answered all my questions/concerns about the procedure, he was very personable, well-spoken and professional during my consultation. Deciding to go with general anesthesia was the wise choice since it took under 1hr, after the surgery there was only slight swelling and minimal pain (Dr. Hutto gave me pain prescription but it wasn't necessary, I have low pain tolerance and that's saying something). They also did a follow up to make sure everything was healing well and if I have further questions to give them a call. Their surgeries were perfect with zero complications, even though their cases were complex. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed today. Two of which were difficult & caused me a tremendous amount of pain and frequent infections. Dr Hutton & his whole staff are amazing! I paid Dr. Hutto over twelve thousand dollars to put implants in for me. Now one of them needs to be taken out, and he is telling me "I put in one for free", and didn't charge you, and "three of them are still viable". There is no bone holding the tooth in. Why does he assume that the one he put in for free is the one that failed! REALLY!?? He wants me to give him the opportunity to fix the problem. Why would I go back when the work was not done right the first time. Do not go here, we had a meeting prior to my daughters surgery and were shown hardware that was going to be installed in her jaw, when the surgery was over he had installed completely different brackets and his excuse was he could not locate the ones he showed us so he put the wrong ones in that were way to big and made for an adult. We then had to go to a different surgeon to have those removed and the correct ones installed which turned a 1200.00 surgery into a 7000.00 surgery due to his negligence! I will be hitting my 40s this year and finally decided to get my 4 wisdom teeth extracted (thanks mom for leaving em in lol). I was really stressed after hearing a lot of horror stories from others. Dr Hutto's team was so nice from the start. The actual surgery was a breeze (thank you to the meds) and the healing wasn't too bad as I stayed on top of my pain meds as instructed by the team. This review should have been made about a year ago, when i got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, with one being broken/infected and being in severe pain. When i made the appointment, his staff made it easy to schedule me in asap. I dont remember much other than him being so cool and professional about everything, explaining step by step about the procedure. Once the IV was in, it felt like i was in and out within 10min. I highly recommend going to Dr. Hutto. Upon making the appointment i had no idea he was a Naval Veteran, that put me at ease as i use to Dental Assist to one as well. Now my lady is getting all 4 removed and isn't nervous because she saw how well i healed with minimal pain (everyone is different though). Once we got into the office it all kind of came back to me, and i remembered how easy it was up until i went under, and assured her that he is going to do a great job. Dr. Hutto was an amazing oral surgeon. He was so kind and talked me through the entire process and the assistants were great. However, the receptionist staff was awful, and the wait time was significantly longer than expected. My appointment was scheduled for 1, but I wasn't actually admitted until around 2 PM (granted my designated ride showed up ten minutes late, however I find a nearly entire hour wait seems a bit much, although this could have been attributed to another surgery that was running late). The receptionists were also gossiping behind the posts like a bunch of teenagers and don't have very much respect in terms of customer service. I work in customer service and I know for a fact I would never treat a customer/patient the way they treated myself and my designated ride because it was rude and completely disrespectful. The previous patient's ride was talked down upon too simply because they had to use uber instead of their own car for their own reasons. I would only ever return with my family for Dr. Hutto and his assistants, but not so much his front desk staff. read more

I had my right wisdom teeth taken out today (I had my left side taken out else where a few years back.) Last Monday I had my pre-op, they explained everything with both a video and the surgeon himself went through everything. Every little detail. He seemed very knowledge and answered all my questions. It wasn't intimating at all, felt very at ease. Staff was super professional and everyone seemed to be in a great mood. When I woke up I was fully alert and no pain, only the swelling (last time I did it I woke up crying and had to be carried to car.) Meds were given but I didn't need them. I've been icing it. I had FMLA paperwork they completed on the spot. My surgery was in the morning, this evening I get a call from the surgeon making sure I didn't have any questions and to check how I'm doing.
