Please take this warning serious! I wish I took other reviews more serious before putting myself through what I endured here!! I have been procrastinating writing this review because I am not one to ever leave bad reviews. The only reason I want to share my experience is to hopefully prevent anyone from going through what I had to go through with this business. I had a wisdom tooth removed back in early April. During the procedure a tooth in the front was chipped. I did not realize till days later since I was in pain from my procedure and the medication was wearing off, also they damaged a nerve taking out my wisdom tooth. To THIS DAY, I have hardly any feeling on the bottom right side of my lip. Just a slight sensation. When I brought up concern for my lip, I was met with lack of care. Same as when I brought up my chipped tooth. When I had my post op appointment, the surgeon made me feel, I was being dramatic about not being able to feel part of my face. Told me I could feel it because of a test they did and it will get better. How do you know what I can feel? July now, I have not regained feeling from that time. When I brought up my tooth being chipped and the pain, they asked me to come in. The dentist I saw told me, "Yes I see your tooth is chipped, but I won't fix it, I want you to see the surgeon first. We can keep an eye on it and if it gets to the point of needing a root canal, then we can do one." I'm sorry, but I don't want to be in pain while they "keep an eye on it" then I have to get an expensive procedure done. When one, it was their fault it was chipped, two my insurance covered the simple fix. They had me come back 2 days later, to see the surgeon, when I called prior to my appointment I asked will they be fixing my tooth. I was told "uhhh, no, you're only here to see the surgeon for post op. If you want your tooth fixed, your dentist (the one that refused to fix my tooth) will have to be the one to do that, and she's not here today, you'll have to schedule another appointment." I don't understand why any dentist wouldn't be able to fix my tooth and I don't understand why the receptionist could not understand I am in pain, I couldn't eat or sleep. No sense of urgency at all, the customer service here is awful and they need to work on in office communication. After seeing the surgeon and showing him my tooth, he called in Dr. Sasi, who is the only kind, caring person I encountered the multiple times I had to go to this office, she told me she was sorry for everything that happened and she said she would fix my tooth right away. I am so grateful to Dr. Sasi for showing me kindness, empathy and care. My anxiety was through the roof. I am not a confrontational person, all I wanted was to not be in pain anymore and get some answers. After all of this, I received my claim from the insurance and there were things on there that my insurance said was not covered because they shouldn't be charging for it, as it is part of the procedure. I let my insurance know what I had been through. The rudeness and confrontation I was faced with while trying to communicate with the office staff. I told her the manager of the dental office told me, that a grievance was filed and there was nothing they could do for me anymore. When I told my insurance, they told me no grievance was filed but there was going to be now. Finally today, I spoke with my insurance and they told me that the dental office received the letter back in early June, That they were only supposed to charge me a certain amount, well they continued to charge me $200+ more than what they were supposed to. Finally they are crediting me back what I shouldn't have been charged in the first place and canceling future scheduled payments. Only AFTER, my insurance called them and I asked why I was still being charged to this day. I wanted to share my story, there's honestly even more I could add on about my experience but this review is already long. Hopefully people take it as a warning to stay away from this place. Receptionist are not kind. Very confrontational, they will ignore you to try to evade situations. They close at random times and there will be no one answering phones. It can be so hard to get ahold of someone. Once they got your money and you have any type of trouble after, they make it so difficult for you. I'm sure a lot of people just give up and being a more reserved person I wanted to. But my family encouraged me to not be taken advantage of. This place honestly needs to be looked into! Please, please for your sake. Take a look at other offices, this place does not care about you, they want money that's it. I'm sure there are people who work there that care. Like Dr. Sasi, but as a whole and the majority, this isn't a place you should trust to take care of you or your family. read more

Been going there taking my 88 yo mother. Service is not good, communication not good. They wait til I bring her to say she needs antibiotics before the treatment. This happened twice. They do all these phone calls, texts, email reminders but not one mention of antibiotics needed. So frustrating I won't go back. We also left once because the wait was so long. read more

I came in on 10/23/25 for three simple fillings that had already been confirmed at my last visit. After numbing my whole upper left side, Dr. Mannem suddenly told me my treatment plan had to be changed and that I "actually needed crowns" based on my x-rays and her visual exam. I was already numb and vulnerable, and I felt completely trapped. They told me the $479 I paid for fillings would basically be wasted unless I agreed to the crowns. Then they added $826 more on the spot, and their financing system wasn't working. My grandma had to pay for me because I didn't have another choice in that moment. No one explained what was happening during the procedure, and I was there from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., scared, confused, and missing hours of work I couldn't afford to lose. I walked out feeling blindsided and taken advantage of. This was one of the most distressing dental experiences I've ever had. I would not recommend this office to anyone. read more

They charged me for two teeth that were already pulled they did not exist. Had a written agreement p to do for the work that was supposed to be done and they changed everything while I was sitting in the dentist chair they had me sign some papers and now my dentures don't fit I didn't get a bone graft that I asked for I got a heal for 3 months so my dentures don't fit and now my gums aren't flat because he didn't do the bone grafts and to do it now I would have to go get sliced open and do the healing time all over I'm not impressed I'm really not too sure what I'm paying for now because of this in the dental chair signing a contract that I can't even hardly read read more

Everything was fine until towards the end of a treatment the assistant (looks like the crazy girlfriend from the movie "get out") dropped this handheld imaging tool right on front tooth and chipped it and said "oh we have to fix that tooth anyways" and when I left I noticed the faintest chip on the bottom, I know my teeth very well I look at them everyday and that chip was not there before the appt. And I tried calling back months later to reschedule bc the fillings didn't last and the damn receptionist was giving me attitude. So please save your money and go elsewhere. read more

They love to schedule procedures that are not covered by your insurance. And you do not find out until the procedure is finished. Nothing is discussed with the patient, as though they do not want your input. I was charged three times the normal charge for a bridge. When they look at you, all they see are dollar signs. Stuck listening the receptionists complain about another employee. Guy with scrubs comes in. Starts complaining that another employee came in and I guess they weren't supposed to. Horrible overly loud music on. Finally get taken back at 910. X rays. Sit in the next room until 930 and said screw this and left. My mother was a patient of this office and was treated poorly and "punished" for canceling "too many appointments on the day of" when she was canceling due to being in the hospital due to a recent cancer diagnosis and then being unable to drive to her appointment due to her chemotherapy side effects. This happened only twice, with no warning, she was told that she has now canceled too many times and can not make any more appointments, she must call daily and see if they have a cancellation appointment she can take. I tried calling and explaining the situation and was told by the receptionist that the manager Javier, would return my call, but of course they never did. This is beyond disappointing and borderline abusive to treat an elderly cancer patient this way. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. They shaved down my teeth for same-day veneers that didn't fit, then gave me temps that cracked on the way home--this happened three times. Over a month later, the permanent veneers finally arrived, and they were more yellow than my natural teeth. I asked for a new shade, but they never even ordered them. I contacted this office because they were in my dental network, where I would pay 20%. I had gotten a cost from a non network surgeon, where I would pay 50%. Over the course of a month, I asked for their cost and was told someone would contact me shortly with that information. They didn't tell me the cost until I was in the office. It was $200 more than the out-of-network office. I would have cancelled before my scheduled appointment if I had known. I canceled at the desk and will not pay a late cancellation fee. June 20, 2025 I went to Modesto Modern Dentistry for their required consultation prior to setting up an appt to have my teeth cleaned (which I have been doing every 6 mo for the last 55 yr). I was told to arrive 30 min early. My appt was at 2:30 - I arrived at 1:55 pm. Receptionist was rude, told me to sit down as she had FOUR patients to check in before me. About 30 min later she called me to the desk to enter the information about myself (medical history, allergies, etc). About 30 min later another young girl called me in. She took digital photos & xrays of my teeth & a head scan, plus my blood pressure. Then I had to spit into a cup so they could check bacteria in my mouth. About another 30 min passed and I was moved to another room to see dentist. Dentist was nice and she showed the xrays to me, she pointed out several areas of concern (in her eyes) although I couldn't see them. She wanted to replace one crown (I have 2) and pull out the tooth with the other crown and replace it with a titanium implant & crown, plus give me a filling in a tooth she said needed one (again I didn't see where she meant). Then I was told the pricing. OMG! For ONE new crown they wanted $1,483. For the filling $132. To pull one tooth, they wanted $1191, and for the implant they wanted $7,049. PLUS they wanted me to pay an additional $620 to clean my gums with a laser (I never heard of that before). Of course, these prices were ON TOP OF what my dental insurance would pay. THEY are SCAMMERS! --- I went to another dentist today for a 2nd opinion. Was informed my teeth are beautiful and that I do NOT need anything the 1st office wanted me to have done. I'm older, and yes my gums have resided some, but that is normal for elderly people (like me). AVOID THIS PLACE. RUN AWAY! read more

I came here out of necessity for a procedure, and although the doctors and assistants are amazing, friendly, and professional... their check-in procedures knocks them down two whole pegs. You know that "new patient" questionnaire we all hate filling out? Well, if they haven't worked the bugs out of their new system, you'll be completing it (in its entirely) each visit. I think I ended up doing their lengthy questionnaire about 6 separate times because the system would not save my answers. Also, you will receive about a dozen "confirm your appointment" messages, texts, and emails... even if you confirmed previously. In conclusion: fix the questionnaire saving to the cloud and reduce the "hey, just confirming we'll see you even though you've already confirmed" contact attempts and I'd give you a higher rating. : / read more

I'm a 76-year-old who was hood-winked into a titanium crown (not covered by MediCare) which cost me $1,217 out of pocket. They didn't tell me a porcelain crown would only have cost me $652. (My dental plan rep told me that when I called them with a question.) Modesto Modern Dentistry got an extra $565 out of me for something that will last 30-40 years, when I don't expect to live 10-20 more years, realistically. A porcelain crown would have been fine. I actually really liked this place until my last couple experiences with them. The dentist himself was very nice however, the staff was not. They are all faces I had never seen before and were not friendly at all. One assistant was very rude/condescending to my 15 yo daughter. Both my daughter and I had a cleaning and the water or whatever is used to clean our teeth was literally dripping down our necks! Yes, we had a bib type thing on, but it was so bad that our hair was wet after leaving. Disgusting. I just called to schedule my follow up appointment and was on hold for almost 20 minutes and hung up. I never had this problem before. In fact, they used to call me to follow up. It seems either new ownership/staff need improvement. Whatever has changed there wasn't for the best. I don't usually like leaving reviews unless they are good, but I was very upset by how rude the dental assistant was to my minor daughter. I didnt appreciate how they handle their billing. I needed a whole mouth deep cleaning, which i know now should have been done in quadrants, but the office done it in one setting and didn't inform me of how it should have gone. I was left a $300.00 that was never explained on bills they sent just that I owed them $300 after I payed them $648.00 before I left the office. I tried calling the office multiple times in which I left messages with the receptionist and got no return calls that way. So, I also called the billing line which was. " sorry were busy at this time and someone will call u back;". I was never able to leave a message the phone call just hung up on me. I never received a call back. I only know what I know now thru contacting my insurance companies. Modesto modern dentistry sent my bill to collections and for the lack of communication and being non transparent, I will no longer go to that dental practice. In July 2023, I was diagnosed by my dentist with a need for a tooth implant due to bone loss. I was informed the process would require removal of my tooth, placement of a temporary tooth for cosmetic purposes, and addition of cadaver bone material to allow for a platform for the permanent implant. All in all, a 6 month process (due mainly to the bone material adherence process). As I have always maintained good dental hygiene and twice yearly cleanings, I was surprised by the diagnosis to say the least. As a result, I sought out a second opinion ultimately landing at Modesto Modern Dentistry. After a full mouth scan and examination by the periodontist and dentist, I was informed that my bone material was fine and that I needed a root canal and tooth height modification, followed by a crown. The root canal was performed in the afternoon and the tooth modification and crown were completed the very next morning! As I write this review in September (a month and a half later) I am pleased to express my complete satisfaction with the office, the staff and specifically with Dr. Sasi (Dentist) and Dr. Anstey (Endodontist). Both were highly professional and very transparent with diagnosis, required treatment and expected outcome. The office and exam/treatment rooms were clean and tidy and the on site equipment and capabilities, state of the art. They even made my crown onsite in about an hour and the color match was absolutely perfect. Modesto Modern Dentistry is a quality turnkey operation that I highly recommend! This was mine and my husband's first visit to this office, and our first dentist visits in a while. We were a bit anxious to see how it would go, but we were both very happy with our visits. Dr. Smart made sure we understood everything that was going on and explained things with detail. Everybody in the office was very welcoming and professional. We also appreciated the way that we were able to customize our care plan according to what we needed and make a payment plan that we are comfortable with. I really, really can not say enough good things about this office and I'm going to try to make this as short as possible despite wanting to share every positive detail of my experience. I was referred to an Endodontist by my regular dentist at the time (back in October-ish?) for a dying front tooth to determine if it could be saved by root canal or if it needed to be pulled. Cue major panic, right? I found Modesto Modern Dentistry via Yelp and scheduled my appointment with Dr. Badii who determined it could be saved by root canal. YAY! Now I am absolutely terrified of dental work so you can imagine the fear and anxiety I had going in for a root canal on my FRONT TOOTH. I can't recall who Dr. Badii's assistant was but he was the nicest guy and he made the process a breeze. I was basically in and out in 45 minutes to an hour - it was one of the easiest dental procedures I've ever had and Dr. Badii did it so effortlessly! You couldn't even tell I had anything done to the tooth. So the root canal went great, then we hit a snag with the holidays and a not-so-great insurance company. Sandra worked tirelessly to make the process as easy as possible and maintained communication until we finally got the approval for the crown. From that point on I worked with Dr. Lopez - such a cool guy!! Super down to earth. He prepped my tooth for the temporary crown and made sure to keep my expectations in check as far as what would happen next LOL. Two weeks later (which was a long two weeks, mind you, with a temporary crown on your front tooth), we had the crown and I'll be damned if it wasn't perfect. I could have cried today when I saw it in the mirror. Anywho, trying to keep this short - fabulous experience and excellent service. This office is truly a diamond in the rough! I'm glad to have found a dentist that I can trust and I'll be sure to recommend Modesto Modern Dentistry to both friends and family. read more

Still waiting for a call back. It's been 2 weeks+. Contacted this place on Nov. 6th, girl who answered phone wasn't familiar with my insurance(I've since been told it's a common one). Went in on Nov. 7th, with an old insurance card, she still wasn't familiar with my insurance. So she asked to copy it, took my phone#, told her my name. She asked if my name was spelled with a K or C & how to spell it...seriously, and said she'd give me a call within a few hours. I didn't realize it took a few hours to verify insurance much less a few weeks. So needless to say, I got all the signs from God telling me not to go here. So I found another dentist (recommended by my kids dentist), who is freaking awesome and the receptionist not only knew my insurance but also got me an appointment the next day. read more

This dentist office is amazing. I live in Sacramento and on a Sunday night using no sense whatsoever, and in a moment of desperation I bit down on a plastic bag trying to rip it open with my front teeth like a crazed animal. With one sharp tug my 10 year old crown came flying out of my mouth shattering into pieces and landing all over my bedroom floor. I panicked, I cried, and I began to call a list of dentist in the Sacramento area. All calls went to voicemails promising a call back in emergency cases, but not one call back from anyone. Finally I did what any normal human does in emergency situations. I called my mom for help. And with one call to her dentist office in Modesto. Ashley with Modesto Modern Dentistry had me scheduled with an appointment for the Next morning first thing at 8:30am!! I was so happy, and so thankful I really can't express it in words. The next day my appointment went smooth the dentist Dr. Kaur is so sweet and kind. She took time explaining things to me. The office is clean and modern. And if your like me and don't have dental insurance they have a dental insurance they offer which made the cost way more reasonable. Dr. Kaur and her assistant Nena put in temporaries and 2 weeks later I came back and they put in the permanent ones. Not only did they help me in my emergency situation, they also improved my smile. I am very happy with what they did, and because it's my front teeth I am extremely picky. For now on I will be driving to them for ALL my dental needs! All the staff at this office are very nice and professional. But Ashley, Dr. Kaur, and Nena help me personally, and I am very thankful for them. Thanks ladies! read more

The staff under the dentist are great. No complaints. That's whey they got 3 stars. That's the good. Here's the bad and why I left the practice. 1) as soon as i found a dentist I liked, she left the practice. The others always tried to up-sell me. 2) My review is based on the Dr. that dose the root canals and they way they process them. The Dr. came strolling in 10 min after my consultation. No respect! Later, as I was checking in for the procedure, they said they would need $700 in case the root canal was hard. This was not disclosed during my consultation. I would have had #2 pulled if I had this information during the consultation. I believe they do this at check in for that reason, to make the sale. My coverage should have been 100% covered. The procedure took 15min at most. Apparently thats how long it takes when its hard and cost an additional $700. I felt bait and switch. read more

From Veronica at the front desk who is a total gem and squeezed me in to their already busy schedule, to Leslie the dental assistant who is sweet and hand especially Dr Smart. Hey, you don't want to use this company for your dental work! They don't have in-house dentist. They have part time and temporary dentist that are not responsible for the work they do! There ordered by non-dentist office manager that directs and sets prices and step procedures and process! The quoted price changed from beginning to end and not given a copy you can read or understand of what you have and paid for! All in there codes! They'll verbally tell you how and what they did but won't give you a copy of summary of all the charges for work done! The best part of this story is!!!! They make your smile and teeth look good! Oops! Only to have an oral surgeon remove all the teeth in the mouth! The reason given was not sealed correctly and found all the teeth were grounded down to small! Told they were doomed to decay and break off as they did in weeks after they were all finished! Only eight had the crowns either break off at the gums or fall off! Two after a couple weeks we're glued back on which didn't hold!! Went for a talk with the dentist which has a regular practice in Stockton Ca. That did the work. He apologized in private and told us he was told how to do the work and just get it done! There way! He quit the position there and couldn't be reached afterwards! All the teeth cost $20K at this place! No one there would help with fixing there work. The manager would not talk to us or return our phone calls! We went to another dentist office to have them repaired! The dentist on coffee rd., Modesto told us can't fix any of the work done!! X-Rays don't show through the veneer's the teeth shapes or condition! Found some loose and at the bases of others decaying from not good preparation and sealing! Referral to a specialist was next! After an exam his opinion was he couldn't work on them and guarantee success to keep all the teeth! Suggestion was a removal of all the teeth and now have false teeth! $18K for this procedure! Went to an oral surgeon next. His opinion was the same! Can't be sure what's under the veneers until removal of them! The result was the same as two other dentist! Decaying, cracked and to small for support! I bet you can guess what was next! All teeth were removed and now adjusting to false teeth! Fun Hugh!
