The first thing I noticed right away is they actually answer their phone when they call so that was already a plus for me. I was able to schedule an estimate quickly and get someone out to help us address our main issue which was our kitchen not venting correctly, in addition to a fireplace that we would soon need because of the cold Detroit winter. As a new homeowner, we did want to make sure that the fireplaces were in good working condition before we actually started using them so we requested a estimate on what the service and maintenance could potentially be for the fireplaces that we had in our house and any recommendations that they would have. The process was very straightforward. They easily walked us through the quote and what was needed and why, in addition to what the current condition of the fireplace was in to what would need to be done and how it would fix the problem as well as what comes after the service what could be expected what they would be able to help us with should we come across any hiccups after the fireplace maintenance and what warranties came with the products that we purchased. We purchased dampers some gas fire logs, and had our fireplaces updated so that we could use them last winter. From there coming this winter, we assumed that we would have to have the fireplaces serviced again because it was a new year, though we only had a handful of fires in the living room fireplace they scheduled the appointment. They were prompt and scheduling, as well as coming out for service and transparent enough to say we haven't used our fireplace enough to fully warrant a cleaning. This was refreshing to see this type of honesty from a contractor. Then we ended up having an issue with the smoke coming into our house on our serviced fireplace. They were able to address solve an analyze, the reasons why the smoke was coming in to our living room, though everything looked up-to-date and ready to go. It was next level problem-solving skills that they would rarely run across because of the unique fireplace that we had in our Historic house. It was very appreciated that they did not just give up and ask us to spend a gazillion dollars to throw money at a problem. I highly recommend Detroit City sweep for the professionalism the availability, and of course, the quality of the work.

The owner was here and actually did more than I expected when he repaired some badly rotted soffit. During the initial visit, I advised them that I was aware that two underground drains were plugged. When they completed the job, they insisted that all the underground drains are plugged, plus the connection is below ground and they are not going to dig to get to it to remove the " connection and install a 6", so all drains now run off to the ground. There was one specific run that the gutter had a reverse slope. I advised them that that was important to me because that was where most of the actual run off was occurring. When they finished the same section had a revers slope. I will give credit that they came out a few time to address this. One time the employees walked around and did nothing. Another time the employees got on ladders but when they left the gutter had the same slant. Finally after complaining they came out and bent a foot of drain to run down the spout. It's difficult to give a rating when part of a job is done well and part is not so good. I considered giving one or two starts but I want to be generous. If the job is uncomplicated they will perform well. In my case, not so well.

I literally do construction inspection for a living. I spent 2 months doing research and picking a roofer, I educated myself on all the different products: GAF versus CertainTeed versus Owens Corning... drip edge, starter strips, ice and water shield, underlayment, different types of shingles, ridge caps / vents, can vents, talked a lot about ventilation! I ended up cold calling 8 places to get 6 quotes, 4 of which were all great. I could have went with any of the 4. Made an excel spreadsheet... But C.H.I. just stood apart. Excellent customer service, and Jim took care of us every step of the way. From the moment we met Jim, we could tell he was our guy. Very nice, not pushy at all. Jim quickly responded to any questions I had from my "research" phase, answering all my questions about the different products, all the way through "roof install day". I called him when I had a question the morning my roof was being installed. He answered right away and gave a great answer to my question. Chris the Foreman was great, too. As the roof was being installed, Chris answered all my questions and forwarded my messages to his workers and, another thing that set them apart was that they didn't follow the exact same "design" of my roof from the 1990's: Chris and his crew went above and beyond to add a few vents and things to do it the right way, because he (in his expertise) thought it looked better and would be better if the roof was installed "that" way instead of the original way from 30 years ago. I totally agreed, glad they decided to add a few things to my roof. Customer Service was top-notch! I learned when it comes to roofing, you'll read different things about the material companies. Some people swear by GAF, some people swear by CertainTeed. The material is what it is - it's the INSTALLATION that counts. If the roof SYSTEM is not installed correctly, that's when you'll have problems, regardless of material. In the end, that's why we picked C.H.I. - someone we can TRUST to do it right. I've always heard "time, money, quality: pick 2". This is my first time doing a project on the house where I honestly believe a contractor gave me all three: quick responses, quick installation (time), VERY high quality products and installation all the way through, and a VERY good price. Allied was recommended by our next door neighbor. Seemed like a fair price so I gave them the go ahead to do the work which I was told would be done the following week. A week later on Tuesday I called as I had not nbeen contacted with an installation date. I was told it would be done that Thursday ad they would give me a call the next day to the specific time. The next day comes and goes, no contact. Thursday morning I contacted the rep (MIKE), told him what happened and he told me the installation was going to be done on Friday, and that I would receive a call on the specific time by noon that day (Thursday). Still no call by noon so I followed up with the office. They blamed it on rain, (0.00" that day) and said they didn't know when they could schedule. I then called Mike (rep) who offered NO help. The office then called back that day and said they had NO idea when they could do the job. I told them to CANCEL my order. I have never dealt with a company that had such poor communication and lack of integrity! REVISION: Shortly after writing this review, I was contacted by the owner concerning my issues. He made no excuses, but asked if he could make this right. He sent a crew out first thing in the morning the NEXT day and they took care of the job. They were friendly, professional and did good work. The owner acknowledged they need to work on communication within the company, but the finished job was just what I asked for.
