As Demi's condition deteriorated rapidly, it became painfully clear that he was no longer experiencing a quality life. We made the heartbreaking decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge and reached out to your office for assistance in ending his suffering. Your office requested documentation from Demi's primary veterinary provider. We promptly contacted their office to have the paperwork completed and sent. After waiting over an hour with no confirmation, we followed up with your office only to learn that the documents had not yet been received. This necessitated an additional follow-up with the vet's office. Throughout this back-and-forth, Demi continued to suffer unnecessarily. To illustrate the delays, we first reached out to your office at 8:56 AM, leaving a voicemail, and received a return call at 9:47 AM. We followed up again at 11:27 AM with another voicemail and finally received a callback at 11:38 AM. The final response came at 12:28 PM. In total, we endured a wait of four and a half hours before receiving a resolution from your office. To compound our distress, we were later informed that the euthanasia had not been approved. It is unclear what information was relayed to your office by the primary vet, but the lack of coordination and communication between your offices was deeply troubling and unacceptable. Under these circumstances, it would have been both appropriate and expected for your veterinarian to contact us directly to fully understand Demi's condition and the urgency of our request. The manner in which this situation was handled fell significantly short of the care and empathy we expect from veterinary professionals. Consequently, we have decided not to utilize your services in the future. We have shared our experience with our family and friends. When entrusting veterinary teams with the care of our pets, we expect they be treated with the same compassion, urgency, and dignity as if they were their own. This experience is particularly disappointing given the positive interactions we have had with your office in the past. When your team came to our home in November 2024 to assist with the aftercare of our basset hound, Koko, we were deeply grateful for the kindness and professionalism shown. Additionally, a family member had a similarly positive experience with your office in 2020 during the passing of their pitbull, Sammy. Unfortunately, the events of Tuesday, September 9th, have left us with a lasting negative impression. I urge you to consider how you would feel if your own pet were in severe pain and you encountered delays and resistance while trying to do what was best for them. The heartbreak and frustration we experienced during Demi's final hours is something no family should ever have to endure. Demi was lovingly assisted in crossing the Rainbow Bridge at 2:50 PM by a compassionate veterinarian who recognized it was time to let him go peacefully. He is now free from pain, running in Heaven, no longer suffering--something that, regrettably, should have been facilitated sooner with greater urgency and support from his veterinary care providers.

I can not give enough stars to recommend the compassion and empathy they give you when a member of your family is sick and dying. I wish everyone could have the loving time to say goodbye to their pet babies with Stillwaters Veterinarians. The hardest part is making the right decision to call them which I will never regret.

Dr Nichols uses DIRTY NEEDLES…read more My amazing vet passed away who cared for my pets for 25+ years. so I chose Dr Nichols to try for my dogs moving forward. During my first visit he lifted my 75lb lab up on to his exam table by her leash - I should have known then this was not the vet for us. He proceeded to give her spring shots & I thought I had observed him cleaning a used needle with rubbing alcohol but thought no way this couldn't be happening . Right who does this ? Second visit she needed a shot & again I observed him turn to his bottle of rubbing alcohol ,he pumped a few pumps into a cotton ball , grabbed the small vile of vaccine to which the needle was clearly stored in it , he took out the needle , rubbed it generously with alcohol , stuck it back in the vile ,drew up the med & gave my dog a shot. A shot using a dirty used not sterile needle !!! I Couldn't believe this I was shocked I called him the next day - he returned my call & I asked him "did you use a dirty needle on my dog yesterday " ? He replied " yes I use them more than once I've been doing it this way for years it's no different than poking through your dogs dirty skin & hair . I rinse them in water then with alcohol " . I'm in total disbelief at this point & I asked how do clients get a clean needle he said " well you have to request one" I repeated if we want a clean sterile new needle for our animals shots we need to request one he replied "yes" . He then asked me if there was anything wrong with my dog - I said well I've been at work all morning , I am not a Dr so I'm not entirely sure . He said " well if there's something wrong with your dog bring her back & I'll fix her for free. Oh hell no I'll never step foot in this filthy dump ever again. Shame on those working there who know this happens with every single animal & doesn't speak up - you are just as much at fault ! Speak up this is wrong WOW just wow If you take your fur babies to Nichols in Skaneateles I strongly urge you to try to find a vet that doesn't run their practice this way , one who offers clean new sterile needles for your animals . & one who cares about animals . Lord only knows what happens behind his closed doors in surgery . If your questioning my experience & are I. Just as much disbelief as I was go ahead & call him , ask him if he uses new needles for every vaccine on your animal , ask him if your baby was stuck with a used needle . Go ahead & ask him .

Great Veteran Hospital…read more Friendly, helpful and caring staff. All wonderful from the receptionist to the Vets and everyone in between. We've been going to Stack's ever since we moved into the area and could not be happier with the quality of sincere care from day one. Yes, a total Friends and Family recommendations.

Then he developed a severe limp and they put him on gabapentin, again we called and repeatedly brought him in for exams and consistently called about him having a problem with the drug not helping him. At this point I insisted on xrays and ultrasound be done, they had us do bloodwork and told us if we paid an extra $89 for an official pancreatitis test that would be definitive diagnosis that would give us the result that we needed. They could not perform an ultrasound so we had to take him to the emergency vet on Bridge Street in a Syracuse. Come to find out our dog did not have pancreatitis as the vet said the blood test revealed but had full pledge lymphoma, (his neck and jaw presented with hard nodules by the ex vet) and we had to put him down. The emergency vet said the blood test that Stacks office gave us for pancreatitis was not a definitive test for that. So which is it? So disgusted with the lack of concern given toward our dog. It wasn't until i insisted on testing because I was concerned of cancer that a closer look was finally given by the Stack Vet. Extremely upset that we had to put our dog down. Think twice about going there. They gouge you for pricing and never addressed his health until i threatened legal action.
