I wish I could join the many raving reviews of this place. I didn't get the opportunity to enjoy their pastries by choice. Upon calling to place a large order I was greeted by nothing short of RUDE, impatient, short and less than helpful, on the other end of the phone. All I wanted to know was what she would suggest for a wedding shower because I had never ordered before. I was wasting her time and because of this woman's lack of simple common courtesy, I canceled the order just as rushed as it was created. Moeller's makes the best carrot cakes! I have been eating these since I was a little girl. It was the one exception to eating healthily for breakfast when I was a kid. My parents used to buy these carrot cakes every once in a while and we would eat them for breakfast. There are many wonderful items at Moeller's and we have a long history of enjoying this bakery. The original in Rice Village made every birthday cake I had from 1-10. Their little orange rolls make Sunday morning delish....... And the petit fours - they are truly the best. No one else in Houston can make them. Customer service at it's best! I frantically called around to local bakeries looking assistance on fixing a cake I bought elsewhere. At the last minute, they told me to bring in my cake, and touched it up for free. When I offered to pay, they refused saying they just wanted to make sure I had a happy birthday. Moeller's baked goods are incredible, but the service is so terrible that I can no longer justify going there for the cakes, cookies, petit fours. I've ordered three birthday cakes from there in the last year, and each one was wrong. The second one was a disaster because it was too late to change it. The most recent, just this weekend, was fixed in time, however, I received no apology, nothing for my inconvenience, in fact, I received the same crusty reception as any other time I've walked through that door. I do love baked goods and I love having a bakery in the neighborhood that has top notch items, but the service is truly not worth the experience anymore. reading some of the reviews made me very dissapointed and sad because this truly is the BEST bakery in Houston. My whole family has been going there for about 50 years and we get cakes and cookies and cupcakes for EVERY occasion there. the staff is so sweet and so helpful and never rude. the place i think is cute no ugly and trashy like some people say. i truly do not think that a bakery has to be in a state of the art store where its all richy rich looking because its a good priced place. i live in West U and have my whole life and everyone i know goes there so obviously when people say the smell and looks are bad other people really dont care. its a very family oriented place and makes the best desserts! their chocolate sheet cake is my favorite and i get it every time i go. everyone in my family has a different favorite which is how i know everything there is good. this place is more than 5 stars without a doubt read more

They let me sample a piece of pecan pie, a large full size slice. They also let me sample a petit four. Both pretty good. The pecan pie wasn't that sweet and didn't have pecans in the filling, only on the top. Very generous bakery and down to earth management and staff. read more

I went here based on the numerous great reviews and a few not so favorable reviews (in the minority). I decided that I had to go and make my own decision. However, I found myself agreeing with the latter group. I ordered some petit fours and some cupcakes based on some of the positive reviews - some chocolate and some yellow cake. The cake was dry and it did not have any taste to them. I would expect the chocolate to at least taste somewhat like chocolate. Instead it was just dry brown colored cake. I could only conclude that this place is popular because it's been around for ages and has become somewhat of an institution. I really wanted to like this place. Sadly, I think you can get better quality bakery at a chain grocery store. read more

My husband and I visited Moeller's for the first time and we got a sample box which included a chocolate petit four, vanilla petit four, sugar cookie, peanut butter cookie, spice cake, macaroon, and 4 other desserts (I just can't remember the names...).
