I used to eat here pretty often but in the past few years it has gone downhill. their rice has an off flavor, they are always out of several toppings, they charge way too much to add guac, and the tofu is completely tasteless. Don't order online- they will mess up your order. last time i ordered online, picked it up, drove all the way home just to find they put chicken instead of tofu on my burrito. Love coming here with the kiddos. Service is fast, the food is fresh, and we always like coming here. I usually get a steak bowl, and the kids love the quesadillas kids meals. There is never a fight with the kids about the food, which is always nice. read more

The food and service here are not great. When I walked into here, I felt like I was going into a Panda Express. The girl at the counter didn't seem to understand what we were saying. We had to repeat ourselves a few times. When the food came out, it was extra greasy. You can tell by all the oil at the bottom of our plate. All I could really taste was the oil in the meat. Yuck. Besides the oil, the meat was cooked fine and I liked the chips and salsa. The place was clean and had a variety of items on the menu. The food is also cheap so you can have a somewhat healthier lunch than fast food. I wouldn't say this food is very fresh or healthy, but since it's the only place like this around, it's the not-so-better alternative to Taco Bell. read more

This place is extremely mids. The environment and staff is okay while the food is mediocre. If you're going to the strip mall where this place is at you might as well just go to Don Sol because it is way more authentic and the food is tremendous. The only other thing I gotta say is that while dining in here, I used their restrooms and there was some random guy laying in there passed out on the floor next to the toilet. Not really sure what he was doing but he was either free loading or off something. It's Carbondale you know? I would just recommend not ordering online. Last 2 times I've ordered online the order has been messed up in some way. Today I got a homewrecker burrito with chicken and veggies. I order a burrito and mainly got rice with my added ingredient. They put very little meat which was disappointing to me. I also got nacho's and Salsa and they forgot my mushrooms, and salsa for the nacho's. I do however have a LOT of tortilla chips for some reason. My wife and I were hungry and looking for something to do. Moes is always a good choice to eat and this time they outdid themselves. I ordered a Joey Bag of Doughnuts with everything and extra steak and the server managed to fit it all in a neat package (without any spillage). My wife had a chicken quesadilla with all the trimmings. We both got fountain drinks and it only cost a twenty. Outstanding meal! I highly recommend this place! read more

Very average food and service. The lobby could've used a little cleaning, the crew was very monotone bordering unfriendly, and the Coke freestyle machine was out of most options (no Coke Zero, no root beer, and neither of the two exclusive Moe's drinks). The chips and salsa are free so that is a plus. Although the chips seem like they are the store brought Kroger brand kind -- Chipotle has the edge on the chips even though you have to pay for them. The rice was a little too over seasoned for me so I didn't finish my food, but I had two friends that had burritos that they seemed to like. The burrito Monday deal is very affordable. Dear Melan, I'm not sure what happened to Moe's. Moe's used to be great. There used to be a crew that worked here in the evenings that was fantastic. They would greet you with kindness and would be happy to serve up some great food. (I think his name was Kunal? - great guy). Anyway, now it sucks. The people that work there are not friendly. One guy (looks like a skinny Herman Munster) will just assume he knows what you want... Seriously, you order a burrito, get to the fixings and he will say "cheese, salsa, onions, lettuce, sour cream, guac?" This is a la carte. I don't think he gets the idea. Another guy, gets mad if you don't request the ingredients in the order he thinks they should go. For instance, if you order an Overachiever (it comes with sour cream and guac!!) and you have to ask for them (which you shouldn't because it is what it comes with) to put it on there he will wait, put it on last, and then smash the foil wrapping into your sauce which screws up the entire taco! Then he'll look at the other worker like he thinks it's funny. The bathrooms. YUCK!!!! They are gross. There are brown smears on the walls. Boogers wiped on the walls. It is never clean. And, if the bathroom isn't clean.. what does that say about the rest of the place? The kids burritos used to be big. Now, they are REALLY small! The junior burritos used to be bigger too. If you order two of the same things, good luck figuring out which one is which (e.g. which one has onions) because they never mark the food. Welcome to Moes? How about, welcome to hell-nos. The FOOD IS FANTASTIC. Somebody's abuelita is up in that kitchen throwing down honey. I don't understand some of these reviews. To each her/his own. Best nachos this side of the MISSISSIPPI. I ain't gone lie to you. You are gone wish you had 2 stomachs. That salsa is salsa. Not salsa soup. Zesty, and you can get that Verde salsa if that's what you like. The presentation is on point. The portions OMG! My portion could've fed 2 people. I had to eat some and save some. I have no complaints. The chips are crispy. Well seasoned beans. Freshly chopped cilantro. Tomatoes are not runny. They're firm and fresh. Avocado is not stale and brown. Friendly service. Lettuce is fresh and cool as is the peppers. You can get grilled peppers if you like. Take out or eat in, you will not be sorry. The food is really good. Queso cheese LOADS of queso cheese. It's not a fluke. My review is not based on a chance encounter. Since moving to Carbondale from Los Angeles, I have been missing Mexican food ALOT. That's not to say that Moe's is authentic. It's not. It reminds me a lot of Chipotle, just not as good. I used Moe's for catering for a professional event. My team here at my company love the food at Moe's, but catering-style service is not their forte, at least not what is required for a professional event or training. A few issues: 1. Delivery was 15 minutes early, which resulted in the delivery person not being able to find me outside the building as I had previously coordinated. We spent several minutes with me standing outside, on the phone with the restaurant, and him wandering around the building looking for me. 2. The delivery person needed my signature on the receipt but did not have a pen with him, so for sake of expediency I offered to drive to the restaurant later and sign the receipt. 3. We ran out of both serving utensils and plates--again, good catering service takes into account that the customer is usually off-site and therefore away from a kitchen. So, if the order includes paper goods, you always provide a few extra in the event one gets dropped, or people want seconds, etc. 4. When I went to the restaurant later that afternoon to sign the receipt, it had not been rung up correctly and did not include either the tip or the delivery fee as I had called the previous day and requested when I provided my credit card number. I offered for them to re-run my card with the appropriate charges included as I had requested, in spite of my bad service experience, and the woman at the register acted exasperated and said "No, just consider that you got free delivery." Then I started walking out with the copy of the receipt, but apparently it was the only copy that existed so she hollered at me to come back and acted exasperated again at having to go into the back office and make a copy for me. And I'm thinking "Of course I need a copy of the receipt. This is my company's credit card." Anyway, I think this is just a case of not very much experience doing this kind of business. For catering for professional events such as seminars, trainings, or other meetings, I recommend sticking to McAlister's or Panera or, for the very best service and a step up in quality of food, Honeybakers. read more
