AVOID! In what should be a customer service first business, Moffatt & Raymond have it completely backwards and solely prioritizes maximizing your billing.
In my specific situation, I have been out of work for nearly a year and I requested that M&R simply "save me money any way they can" suggesting that if the grass hasn't grown significantly in a week to please skip that week of mowing. They responded by immediately going to mowing every other week even though we are in a peek growing season and the grass is very tall and in need of a mow every week. I was about to call and complain and ask them to mow every week when I received my first invoice for the mowing season. At least I was saving money, right? WRONG! M&R billed more than double ($205 vs. $90 for a normal mow) for each mow that occurred every other week!
The worst part is that when I contacted Lisa Raymond who runs their office (who you will never connect with live and have to leave multiple messages to receive a call back) she justified it as me requesting to go every other week (which is not true) and that even though she knew the request was "to save me money given my unemployment" that she knew mowing every other week would cost more (because it is more work), but it is not her responsibility to notify me of such (even worse because I NEVER requested to go every other week, but only requested to save me money where they could).
We use M&R for our snow removal service as well and have seen similar situations where they plow 3 times during one storm, or plow for a small 2" storm when it is 60 degrees and sunny the next day and would have all melted off anyway. Maybe this is what some customers would want, but given I had already contacted them given my unemployment and asked to "save me money where you can", this is clearly an attempt to maximizing billing with no concern for the customer.
I would highly recommend avoiding M&R at all costs. I am in the process of switching to another provider and if they provide quality service I will be sure to post a Yelp review to that effect to let you know who would make a better an alternative. read more
