    House Salad with smoked chicken

Moguls Tap Room is a great option post-ski, post-hike, or just during your resort stay. The food is rather good compared to the competition (and exceeded by expectations given it's a "resort restaurant"). The service is friendly and efficient. I recommend this above the other options in the area for sure and I commend the owners for keeping quality and experience high while effectively having guests be "captive". FOOD: I've had the burger and their salad. The burger was simple yet very much met my desires. It had a well chosen bun, good tasting patty, and perfectly crispy bacon. Truly simple yet perfect. The salad was beyond the normal level of restaurant salads. The protein on it (chicken) was flavorful and not a skimpy portion. This was an enjoyable salad (not a status earned lightly). I really do appreciate the ownership here for their food choice and the chefs for their execution of it. SERVICE: friendly, efficient. Nothing too much to say here. AMBIANCE: casual yet not too informal. Perfect for anything (friends, vacation vibes, or a nice date night)! I do highly recommend this option and will be back when I'm next in the area.

my husband goes up to Luton once a month for work so I decided to join him on his most recent adventure. He typically stays at Caribou Highlands or the hotel across the street but I prefer Caribou Highlands because of the amazing amenities and fun outdoor games! We hadn't tried Mogul's before surprisingly as we usually go into Grand Marais for dinner, but we just checked in and didn't want to drive anymore so just hopped downstairs to the restaurant. The staff was super friendly, super attentive, and super upbeat! We started with the artichoke dip that was incredibly creamy and cheesy! Wish we would've had a little bit more pita as the ratio was a little off, but it was still very good. My husband ordered the burger, which he thought was very juicy and I got the steak you can see from the photos it was perfectly cooked, so deliciously flavored, and it really filled me up! Highly recommend if you're staying at Caribou to make a quick trip downstairs and check out the grill and tap room!

My fiancé & I went to visit here while on a weekend getaway up the North Shore. There are not many restaurant choices up here. It was Late November so there weren't the amazing views available to sit outside. For entrees we ordered the Tenderloin Philly & a Salad that included apples. The tenderloin sandwich was very hearty & not expensive. Well worth it. The interior is nice & rustic since it is in the hotel of the ski lodge.

Quaint, nature views with fine dining quality menu. Lighting is incandescent. Accessible even for wheelchair users. We had reservations for 3 on a Sunday at 5:15pm weekend after Christmas-busy and got seated right away. Waitress and busser operated like ducks and kept their cool at all times. Never felt rushed. Asked for hot sauce and had an entire selection. Vanilla ice cream on the menu but asked to serve it turtle style and it was perfect!

We came to ski and snowboard at Lutsen Mountain and stayed at the Mountain Inn. Moguls was the closest restaurant and we could conveniently walk to it. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of food options. The wings were yummy especially the sweet Thai chili. The Walleye Cakes were delicious so was the Chicken Wild Rice Soup. The service was friendly and attentive.

This was one of our dinner stops while staying in Lutsen. The restaurant and resort looks very new and is decorated with a ski motif (hence Moguls). We visited in the summer and still enjoyed our experience. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We had a nice table near the window to enjoy a view of the resort games area and Superior Forest. I opted for a burger and side salad. The bacon burger (no cheese please) was $15 and to sub a salad for fries or chips it was an additional $2. $17 for a burger meal seemed a bit pricey but it was good. Husband had a Merica Burger and fries and he enjoyed his meal. Fries were crispy, thinner. I loved LOVED that they served wine from the winery just down the road. I had a Boundary Waters Red which was great. After dinner, we sat outside and watched families make s'mores around a gas fire pit. Not quite the same experience as roasting marshmallows over and open fire (good part is no one left smelling like a Yule log).

Service was very slow for the little amount of guests they had. The actual food was good, but not worth the price considering the wait and just being overall pricey with limited options. The views were pretty but would pick somewhere else if I had a choice.

Walley and sweet potato fries. Sorry for the crappy pic it is just so dark in here!

We sat at the bar and expected a little more out of the nachos for the price. Decent but not amazing. Cold beer and a fun staff.

Definitely the best restaurant in Lutsen. Food can be hit or miss depending on who is in the kitchen but overall a good place to eat.

Right around the time we were considering leaving, the owner walked by and told us we had to stand in a line against a wall in order to be seated for breakfast. (Other than her directions, nothing indicated us to do so) After sitting down and receiving our water and coffee (coffee that was nearly $5 and never refilled) we ordered our food. Pancakes and a breakfast burrito, each around $16. When the food arrived we received what appeared to be a tiny gas station burrito and four smaller pancakes with a little tub of lukewarm syrup. We both left hungry. I understand food and material goods can cost more in less populous places, but either portions should have been larger, or the price should be lower. Prices might be more reasonable for lunch, but for breakfast I highly suggest you go somewhere else! We had just gotten breakfast in Two Harbors the day before at Ruby's Cafe and ordered similar items. Coffee was better and refilled more often. The prices were lower and the portions were much larger, filling the entire plate and our stomachs. As someone who has driven across the US, this is one of very few local restaurants that I regret spending any money at.

With a rare, wind-free weekend, endless sunshine, and stunning harbor views, it felt like we had discovered one of the North Shore's best-kept secrets. The rooftop experience is truly special. The live acoustic music was outstanding and perfectly matched the relaxed lakeside atmosphere. Between the entertainment, craft beverages, and panoramic views of the harbor, it's easy to see why this has become a Grand Marais favorite. The male bartender team was exceptional hardworking, attentive, and always making eye contact to acknowledge guests, even during the busiest rushes. Their professionalism and hospitality stood out. During our six-day visit, the female bartenders seemed less engaged and often didn't acknowledge guests waiting at the bar, which was noticeable by comparison. That said, the overall experience was fantastic. Jeff and Susan Gecas created exactly what they envisioned when they opened The Gun Flint Tavern, a place where people can enjoy great food, craft-brewed beer, wine, live music, and one of the most beautiful views in town. The historic setting overlooking Harbor Park and Grand Marais Harbor only adds to the charm. We highly recommend stopping by for drinks, music, and the rooftop atmosphere. We moved downstairs to have dinner on the street-level bar and restaurant. Gabby is an exceptional bartender and server. He took care of every table in the restaurant effortlessly.
