Beautiful setting right on Lake Superior. Their food is very delicious, made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Many gluten free options.

A classic grilled white fish dinner with a well rounded mix of fresh fruit, vegetables, and fried rice to die for...

We eat here at least once every time we are in Grand Marias. By far the best restaurant within hundreds of miles. Not a secret, so you will have to wait - forever - but it is worth it!! The fish is spectacular, but we were even more impressed with their vegetables! Really, really good salads and sides. Their homemade salad dressings are always fun and tasty. So much fun!!

FYI there is an included 20% service charge/tip. I had fish of the day dinner, which was very nutritious. I could eat that for every meal. Food was served in a reasonable time frame despite it being very busy. Ambiance - very busy, a bit crowded, but probably for good reason.

Locally owned and sourced are just a couple of wonderful things about this quaint cafe that sits on the waters edge. Stopped in for dinner and ordered their house-made maple cream soda and their fish dinner. The fish dinner (along with the rest of their dinner options) offer choice of pasta or wild rice and a salad with choice of dressing. All dressings are made in house- I opted for the Tomato Basil and it was so light, bright and simply perfect. My white fish was grilled (you can opt for fried) and was a hearty protein. The in house sodas are not free refills and also, loved their less sugary approach to a flavorful bubble. Service was friendly, relaxed and informative. It really is a must for dinner.

Came here for a quick lunch on a Monday afternoon and wow were they busy! We waited about 15 minutes for a table and ordered the grilled chicken tacos and grilled halibut dinner plate (so cool that you can order from the dinner menu at any time). We really enjoyed the fresh food and the scenic views. What we ordered: - the tacos are more like wraps instead of real Mexican tacos. Flavor is good. - the halibut dinner was the highlight for us. The wild rice was yummy, salad refreshing, and fish cooked perfectly! Would order again.

The soup/salad combo is the perfect lunch choice on a cold/windy day off the bay. Everything is sourced locally and incredibly fresh. The soup in particular was outstanding - the bits of fish/vegetables were hearty and worth the price. We also tried the grilled fish and chips, but the soup was the star. Our waitress was really nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating, but I can understand how some people might have issues with the service speed. Likewise, it's worth noting a 20% tip is added to every check. It's a busy spot so be prepared to wait! For me the combination of views, portion sizes, and the service we received today made their prices valid.

So much amazingness at this place. Not sure there is enough space - everyone that comes to Grand Marais always says "this is my favorite place" and we finally figured out why. Location? A+++, Drinks? A+++, Food? A+++, Staff? A+++. Make sure you make a point to visit and enjoy!!!

Cute place right on the water - big windows with great views no matter where you sit. Simple menu with mostly one kind fish - grilled or fried. It was Herring the night we came. I got the fish tacos and they were tasty! My son said the burger was pretty good. My other son loved the fried fish. I liked that the kids meals were well rounded with protein, veggies, fruit and even a little cookie - which they loved! No cocktails but the house wine was good The napkins are tiny and a little awkward to use. Free parking on the street outside.

Best food of our trip so far! My husband had the fish and chips with trout chowder and I had chicken and chips. Everything was excellent. Service was fast even though they were packed. We watched several sailboats come in as we were eating.

Decent food and bad service. Much better places to go to in the area. I've eaten here a few times and was always under whelmed.

The blackened pork chop was cooked to perfection - moist and juicy. I really enjoyed the apple sauce and vegetables, which paired really nicely with the pork. The Malfadine pasta was also nice. It was my first time trying rabbit - if I didn't know better, I would have believed it was chicken. It wasn't gamey in the slightest. The truffle flavour was more subtle than I expected. Though it's hard to critique the cook on either dish, I wouldn't say it was outstandingly delicious or unique. I am not necessarily eager to come back to try other things on the menu. To our surprise, the restaurant also gave us 2 desserts on the house! The cheesecake and tart were both very good and not overly sweet. Though I wish I had ordered their signature raspberry dessert instead of the lemon tart as it seems more unique. Overall, very good food and service. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Once we stepped in, we were warmly greeted with a lively dining room, and were quite surprised with the diversity and uniqueness of the menu. We started with Canadian old-fashions, and crab cakes. For dinner had their bus 16 oz steak special which was very nicely done, and the rabbi pasta. We Wish we had more room to try the pizzas because they looked great. We Finished it off with the peanut butter cheesecake. The waitress was charming and very helpful with making our decisions, even though she was supporting a very busy room. A real gem for thunder Bay, great place and great value. It's well worth the five minute drive away from the touristy downtown choices.

There was an advertised dress code when it opened but am unsure if it is still there. I think the restaurant is having an identity crisis. If you went to this restaurant based on the name/description you would be disappointed. If you knew that it was a Vietnamese restaurant with a lovely owner and pretty good food, then you would be content. Diners who want Vietnamese don't know it's there, and the guests who visit based on the name Vineyards will be disappointed. The restaurant is still under reno and the tables/seating/atmosphere leave a lot to be desired. This restaurant may be the only place in town that has banh mi and I think they would do well to advertise that. I would recommend that they change their name, advertise the food offerings (banh mi, dim sum, noodle bowl, rice rolls) and change their hours to accommodate the surrounding businesses Tues - Sat opening at 11. Their website currently states 11-11 Thurs to Sat. They only open at noon the days I have been there. The food is alright, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired.

Our entire party of 7 ordered the Tavern Burger with garlic aioli and a side of their homemade kettle chips, and it did not disappoint. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the garlic aioli added just the right kick without overpowering everything. Despite some medium wells, well done or still mooing ,the cooks got it right. The kettle chips were crisp, well-seasoned, and tasted fresh. It was definitely a step above your typical side. The waitress boasted about them not having fryers. It thought this was cool. They did lose a star for a filthy high chair and not having a table big enough for a party of 8. One of the highlights was the setting. From our table, we had a clear view of Lake Superior, which made the whole meal feel a little more special. It's hard to beat good food paired with that kind of scenery. The service here was great.
