Although the stylist, level 3, was not fit for her level. I mentioned to her that i wanted layers, and she first said that she will cut layers after styling. That is the first i am hearing. Then she changed her mind and did layers right after the cut, very rushed. Then with styling, i had asked for outward curls, whereas she did inwards. As i pointed tthat her technique was not wrong, she mentioned that it was my hair that was a problem. My teen-age son who never paid attention to my hair today asked me what was wrong with my hair. She uses all hi-end products that are gentle on your hair. I came in one days refusing to get another relaxer and wanted to do the big chop! She's smart and caring and of course wouldn't let me, so instead she coached me through the transition to keratin. Best thing that has happened to may hair in a long time! It was difficult to get an appointment! I submitted a website forum and called the work phone several times. The best way to contact is via text message to the work phone! Totally understandable that they are busy, but I didn't get a reply for 3 weeks. The salon is decently sized for 2 stylists! Jess is the owner and manager; Abby is her work partner. I am older--almost 80--have artificial knees, and a driveway that can be difficult in good weather; 13" of snow with ice on top made it hard to know if I would be able to get there, even though I really needed a haircut. I've been going to this salon for almost 2 years during which time the owner, Jessica, has never greeted me or even acknowledged my presence; we've never had a conversation and she knows nothing about me, so I was truly baffled by her behavior. After this experience and after reading the reviews on this site, I think this business may cater to--or want to serve-- a much younger crowd and am guessing that's what the owner prefers. EDIT: the reply from the owner is untrue: I don't know who her "Staff" might be other than Abby (who was my stylist)--I have never emailed her and in fact do not know Abby's email address. And my "Disrespect" was limited to my reply "have you looked out the window?" at the accumulating snow when asked about keeping my appointment. Now that I've read them, the reviews support my belief that this salon prefers a young clientele--the words "chill" "vibe" "chic" "adorable" are pretty unmistakable. Please take note: the owner has not disputed my narrative of the facts of what transpired here or my sense that she prefers to serve young clients and is not interested in serving older people like me. Having never before encountered this kind of bias, I failed to recognize it for what it is and that is why I submitted this review.
