We love going to Mollys!! One of the best places for Saint patrick's day, watching the soccer matches, and Gaelic or rugby! A great spot just across the river from downtown Cincy, we often start here before walking across the bridge for an event or game. True Irish pub with all your Irish favorites on tap and you can rent out the upstairs space for events. The food is delicious and the service is always amazing and super kind people. Can't recommend Mollys enough if you are looking for a great place to hangout with friends and watch a game or two. read more

My family and I arrived in Covington around 9pm and dining options are slim to none in the nearby area after 9:30, so we chose Molly Malone's because it was open late and we wouldn't be holding anyone up. We got there at around 9:10 and were first offered a seat inside but it was so loud in there the hostess couldn't hear what we were saying and vice versa, so we got a spot on the patio. Our sever was very nice, but service was VERY slow for a Sunday night. She told us they were busy the night before because of a conference and they were still in town that day, so the bar inside was busy. After ordering our drinks it took about 15 minutes to get them, and she didn't even take our food order when she came back despite us being ready. We waited, no problem. We ordered a 'Spice Bag' and it was decent but took about 25 minutes to get to us despite being potatoes and onions in a bag. For 40 minutes we waited for our food and when it came out it was terrible. I ordered the Fish and Chips and Caesar Salad to share and both were mediocre at best and inedible at worst. If you come here: DO NOT GET THE FISH AND CHIPS. They were battered nicely, but aside from that the fish didn't feel fully cooked and tasted like nothing, with a hint of dirty water. The tartar sauce seemed homemade, but didn't have any flavour. The coleslaw was boring and watery, with no flavour. Our server never checked up on us during the meal, so I never got the chance to ask for something else, so I was just stuck with the fries it came with. I know what good fish and chips should taste like and it's not that. Others ordered the curry and the wings and seemed to enjoy it, which is nice. However, 30 minutes after placing our order we were told that the kitchen "ran out of rice" and they asked us what we would like to replace it. When the curry came out, it was missing the naan but again, server never came to check on us so we didn't notice until the end of our meal. Overall, it's a cute place that feels Irish, but service is slow and food is terrible. Our server was lovely and it wasn't her fault that she was busy with tables, but management should be doing more when they know there's a conference in town to set their servers up for success. read more

I was. . .underwhelmed. The food was decent, the decor was nice, but the service was profoundly lacking. I was here a couple of weeks ago, in town on work, and coming in for lunch because this place was within working distance of the office I was visiting. I love Irish bars, and regularly go to the one nearest me, so I was hoping for a good experience. As I said, the ambiance and decor was at least pretty good, and the food I had was a mushroom Swiss burger which was okay but not exceptional. The problem was the really bad service. I was there at midday for lunch, there were a couple of folks drinking at the bar, and one other table of people seated at around the same time I was. They took more than 5 minutes to simply come and take my drink order. . .and the server had an attitude when I let him know I wasn't there to drink beer. He started by rattling off beer options, and when I asked what soft drinks they had, he told me the soft drinks they had. . .then, dripping with sarcasm, he says "or we could fix you a Shirley Temple" with a really nasty attitude. I ordered my beverage, and when he came back almost 10 minutes later (!) with my drink, I place my food order, which he takes without comment. My food takes over 30 minutes to come out, and he never came back once to check on me, refill my drink or generally do anything. Once I politely asked him about soft drinks, making it clear I wasn't there for beer, it's like he checked out of thinking he had to deal with me. Things were slow before then, but got worse after that. It's not like the place was crowded and he had a lot of tables to deal with. He brought the check back, and he was actually prompt in taking my money for the check. Same fun people and atmosphere with good service and a nice selection of draft beers and whiskey. Bad news ? Food has declined in value and quality. Higher prices,fewer items and smaller portions. The most tragic issue ? FISH AND CHIPS, their signature menu item! More expensive,smaller portions and the fish is not nearly as good as before. Had to have the Irish breakfast, with all the trimmings, the picture does not do it justice. Very tasty, quick service, friendly wait staff, good atmosphere. We were visiting the area, and found the pub in a square with various other establishments, a great little social area. As for the pub, there was an English FA Cup game on, some fans watching the game, with a good atmosphere. We stopped in here for lunch one afternoon. The bar was quiet and our waitress came over and gave us menus and asked if we had been in before and no this was our first time. She answered any questions we had and gave us some time to look over the menu. She came back and I ordered the Dubliner cocktail and my friend ordered a Jameson Irish Whiskey. My Dubliner was a strong one and may have been the wrong choice for me for lunch but I will know for the next time in. She took our food order and I ordered the Shaved Prime Rib sandwich and I was given a choice of Saratoga chips, mashed potatoes, house cut fries, sweet potato fries, tots, fried broccoli, peas, or a side salad. I chose the Saratoga chips, I love them! My friend ordered the Reuben and also the chips. My sandwich came with au jus on the side for dipping. My chips were as I would expect them to be, a little thick and crunchy! I was not a big fan of the ciabatta bread on my sandwich but overall it was good. It is an Irish pub and looked good inside with all the wood. I think we will likely stop in again at some point. read more

Stepping in off the street, you can feel the old world tavern vibe, seems like a very storied place. True to their name, Molly's has a lot of traditional Irish fare to offer. We got the Guinness stew and it did NOT steer us wrong. We also tried their curry fries which were a good surprise menu item and rounded it out with their wings and stuff portobello mushrooms. Everything was seasoned and cooked very well. Serving sizes were adequate for the price, and the extensive beer menu was a big plus. so, I am not on to leave a bad review ever. That being said, I am only in covington for a Reds game. I turn 40 tomorrow, single mom that's been through hell. I stayed a night to celebrate while my kids drove home. I walked into the restaurant with the plans to get a drink and order take ou. waitress must have thought that I was just another drunk patron coming in after the game. I was not, I was treated as if I didn't matter. ordered my drink and food to go, enjoyed a Long Island while I Waited on my order. When the waitress came to get my card, I asked if I could get vinegar for the chips with my fish and chips. She made a deal and said it was already there, so politely I said good thank you. When I got back to the Airbnb I was staying in, an item that was included with my fish and chips the tartar sauce was missing. This would not have been an issue if I wouldn't have been treated so bad. When you spend l less than $40 for a meal and still leave a $10.00 tip on carry out. I at the bare minimum expect for what the menu says it included in your meal to be there. Being the introvert I am door dashed tarter sauce from the grocery before I didn't feel like I was welcome to walk back to get what was supposed to be be with my meal. All I ask is don't judge until you have walked in the other persons shoes. All I wanted was my meal after having a nice drink, go back to my room to eat and watch a nice movie. Great Irish pub and restaurant! We came here Saturday early evening and this place was packed. The food was good, service was fantastic, and they have excellent event space. The 2nd floor had what looked like a baby shower going on and we were able to celebrate a birthday on the 3rd floor. The staff was great - very friendly and accommodating. We were able to book the space, food, and drinks hassle free and even book a bluegrass band that plays regularly at the venue (they were fantastic). First place that I checked out while on my trip to Covington, Kentucky. Luckily I got in town just in time to find a good bar to watch the Sunday night football game. Little did I know that I was stumbling across the best Pub in town. It was the perfect place to not only watch the game, but to dine. I got the smash burger, which had a lot of fixings on it. It was absolutely delicious and I would eat it every week if I lived nearby. The service was incredible. The bartenders made me feel as if I was home. Tracy did a real great job of being attentive, responsive, personable, and helpful. I would come back just for the service alone. As far as the ambience, it was your typical bar setup with big TBS and a surround sound system which made it the perfect place to watch the game and snack on some good food. 10/10 love this place and hope to visit again. read more

The setting was a bustling fairly clean bar, right after a Bengals game (they won!). The service was on point and courteous. The waitress took my order right away, but did say it would take 30 minutes to prepare. I understood, given it was busy and they just had an onslaught of customers. However, the food, when it arrived, was just okay. The corned beef was the exception -- it was delicious and well-prepared - a good hearty Irish meal. My other dishes -- the cabbage and mashed potatoes, fried pickle chips (with the breading falling off of it), and Irish spring rolls seemed more representative of quick bar food than authentic Irish. Plentiful helpings and rib-sticking ingredients, that did satisfy if you wanted some kind of food to go with the fellowship and the beer. And this definitely looks like a great go-to place to watch a game with good friends and a brew or two. But I wouldn't come here just for the food. read more

I had a good experience at Molly Malone's for a Monday night dinner. I got the House Salad with ranch dressing. The salad was fine, but it was tiny, side-salad size. The menu did not indicate the small size, otherwise I would have ordered something else. Someone else in my party also ordered a salad and also found the size was insufficient for a meal by itself. To supplement, we ordered the vegetarian potato skins appetizer. The veggie potato skins were phenomenal, fried to perfection. Overall the restaurant was ok. It was fairly dark inside. The first booth we sat at had food left on the floor, so we moved to a different booth which was fine. The service was good. The music, the live bluegrass Monday night jam, was awesome!! It really contributed to the overall experience. The live band was my favorite part of the evening. I'm hoping to go back soon and give Molly's another try. read more

Checked out Molly Malone's in Covington and was seriously impressed by the wings. I ordered the garlic buffalo and the first thing you notice is the size, these things are huge. Not just big for the sake of it either, they were still cooked right with a crisp outside and plenty of juicy meat. The sauce had a great balance of buttery buffalo and garlic without drowning the wings, so you actually taste both. Good kick but not overpowering, easy to keep working through the basket. Fun pub atmosphere and a solid place to grab a drink and real bar food. If you're hungry, the wings here definitely deliver. read more

My family stopped in to Molly Malone's for brunch recently. Inside of the restaurant was so loud we almost left, but I am glad we stuck it out. We had some really tasty food and my family enjoyed several different shots and cocktails. Brunch was almost over when we arrived, so we were urged to order quickly. My brother got some sort of Irish breakfast platter and said it was one of the best breakfasts he had had in a while. We also got the stuffed portabellos to share. They were really unique and good and made me want to try making them at home. My sister got shepherd's pie and loved it. I tried the mashed potatoes from the top and definitely could've eaten a whole bowl of those. My husband and I split fish and chips and were very happy with our choice. My brother got a reuben and he said it was potentially the best he had ever had. Oh! And the curry fries! 10/10. I'd LOVE to get a bowl of the curry to take home and eat with rice. Delicious on the fresh cut fries. Sadly the downside to our visit was our server. Not only was she pushy when we arrived, in regards to brunch, but she would disappear for awfully long periods and not come back to take our order and/or check in. read more

We came in 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. We were seated right away, our order was taken quickly and was served fresh. My wife really likes potato skins so she ordered them as an app. These were not skins, this was 2 potatoes cut in half. I think the potato was mashed and put back in then covered with toppings ( chives, bacon, cheese,etc.) They were pretty good and a value for what you get. For entree she had the sliced prime rib sandwich with fries. She said it was the best bun she had in a long time and the right amount of horseradish was used. I had the bangers and mash. This is 2 sausages served on top of mashed potatoes with brown gravy and a side of peas. It was more food than I wanted to finish. The price was very reasonable and we would go back again. It is in the downtown district. As a tourist you never know what to expect but we felt safe, we saw several women walking alone and the area seems pretty quiet after dark. read more

As a business traveler, I'm often eating alone. Finding a great place where not only is the food excellent, but the servers are on point and friendly often seems like a needle in a haystack. Well I found my needle here at Molly Malone's. I ordered the Guinness Beef Stew and it arrived at my side quicker than a drive thru fast food burger. It was delicious my only complaint is I wanted more! The bartenders were friendly and chatted with me just the right amount (too much they're ignoring everyone else, too little they're ignoring me). The atmosphere was just right with it being brisk but not too busy. I imagine it gets pretty packed during Bengals games in there, but this was the night before. I hope for another chance to return to the area, you know I'll be back here. read more

We visited Molly Malone's for the first time in years. Fortunately, it was just as good as I remembered. After finding some nearby street parking, which can be an issue, especially on weekends, we walked in and were quickly greeted and seated. My wife ordered Shepherds Pie and I had fish n chips. Both were flavorful and satisfying. We also has Irish egg rolls, which were alot like the Rueben wontons at the Holy Grail. Regardless of the copycat (not sure which came first) they were tasty, just a bit too greasy. Overall, Molly Malones is a great place for a quick meal and a drink. We'll be back for the English Breakfast sometime soon. read more
