I went with friends on a Monday night for trivia!! We were easily the youngest ones in the bar LOL, and I was worried that we weren't going to know any of the trivia questions. The host asked a lot of different questions though, as well as a "name the song" category" which was a good switch up. We all had a great time and actually ended up winning 2nd and a $20 gift card. Good priced drinks and we sat out on the patio, which wasn't too cold. There wasn't any music playing because of the trivia, so the traffic and cars on I-45 were pretty loud. Overall, I liked this place a lot more than I had anticipated! I'll definitely be coming back next Monday for more trivia, or on a Tuesday for karaoke (but definitely not alone). read more

We've been here several times now for trivia and it's usually fun. The bar is a smoke bar, so it can be pretty smoky. The outside patio is nice and the bartenders are always super nice. If Smoking and Southern Star brews are your thing, Molly's is your Pub. So after investigating some good drinking spots on Yelp, I settled on Goose's Acre Irish Pub in the middle of suburban Woodlands. My lovely date trumped me by suggesting we go somewhere you could let your hair down and thus we headed to Molly's. Molly's is an old school, freestanding bar along I-45. Your big reminder that you're not in Houston anymore is the cigarette machine (9 bucks a pack at this writing) in the entrance of the bar. As it was already getting dark when we arrived the inside was even darker. It reminded me a little of the inside of an old wooden ship. Drawn by the lights from beer signs, we settled in at the bar where we were served by Scott, the friendly and knowledgeable bartender. Now as close as Molly's is to the Woodlands and points North, I had to order the local Conroe brewed Southern Star Pine Belt Ale. For a young brewery, they show a lot of promise. Along with a lot of other beers on tap (and in a bottle), Molly's carries the Southern Star's Buried Hatchet Stout and Bombshell Blonde. The Stout is a delicious and smooth brew coming in at 9 percent alcohol. It compliments that massive amount of smoke that many of the patrons (my date included) exhale into the hold of the pub. Not being a smoker, I imbibed on some decent pub grub including the spicy boudin and a nice knockwurst with sauerkraut & mustard. We had a nice little crowd in our corner of the bar and a genuinely nice time at Molly's Pub. I suspect that different nights and different crowds will give you uneven experiences here, but I have to say that I'll be back next time I decide to travel 40 miles out of Houston. And here's my tip: Run down to the Texaco down the street and save enough on a pack of cigarettes to get another pint of Lone Star. read more

Sub-par bar. Enjoyable environment, however the actual drinks consisted of water more than vodka. The taste was pretty unbearable, so we cleared out. Turns out it costs about 9.50 for two very poorly made drinks. All in all I spent about 10 minutes here, I'd suggest starting your night elsewhere. read more

This sounds silly considering that when one thinks of Texas they most likely think of ten gallon hats, country music, and line dancing - bunch of COWBOYS! Hahaha -- and NOT the classic Irish pub. About four years ago I came out to Texas to visit family and my sister-in-law took me down to good ole Molly's. I remember thinking it was so far away from her house off of Sawdust (lol...only like 5 minutes) and I was like, "thank you, God, it's a normal pub." It makes me nostalgic for Fiddler's in San Fran. What I like best about Molly's is the outdoor bar area (when the humidity isn't too overbearing, that is). It's mostly covered with overhead fans and a roundabout bar area. There are a bunch of picnic tables and round tables atop beer kegs. The best part is that there are trees that grow up through the floor and are covered in white Christmas lights. There are four flat screen T.V.s outside, too. It's a great place to go and watch the Olympics. The inside is classic dark wood and caters to video arcade and darts. The only thing I wish they had was a pool table. The clientele ranges from mid-twenties to early forties and the occasional elder (I saw a couple in their seventies there last night with their canes - it was so cute!). Most everyone is friendly. The bartenders are flirty and will chat it up with you when you're sitting alone. And, as always, I have no trouble meeting new folks here. If you're an out-of-towner and don't know anyone, molly's is a great place to go to and not feel uncomfortable or weird for going out alone. read more

Grabbed a drink with a buddy from high school here while in town for Thanksgiving. Most of the reviews on here sound right. Feels like the definition of a dive-bar, a nice antidote to most of the more fancy places in The Woodlands if that's what you're looking for. The beer is cheap and there is a good selection. After a couple of drinks I ordered some chicken nachos and they were really weak. Service at the bar was great, at my table was horrible. This might be obvious to most people, but I think it bears repeating: ITS SMOKEY IN THERE. If you don't want everything on you smelling like cigarettes afterwards, probably not the place for you. If you want a relaxed bar where you can smoke a pack, you'll probably love it. This bar was not my scene (I hate smoking), but I appreciate that a place like this exists in The Woodlands. read more

Seeing the huge banner promoting their Crawfish and live music (didn't see live music when we went and it was a Sat. afternoon), we thought we'd give them a try. Now we have been here on several other occasions but never been too tempted to try their food. BUT for crawfish that's $5.00 dollars a pound, what is there to lose. People here are not too friendly for the exception of the patrons in the bar. Pretty chill/happy crowd. The waitress there came up to our table ONLY to ask for our ID's and never came back. You could feel that she had no intention of serving us. We had to get our drinks and crawfish order in at the bar. She had no problem walking up to the table next to us and taking their orders for the remainder of our visit. We got the crawfish and it had a mix of small and large ones, but a lot of them you could tell had dead even before they boiled them. The only seasoning the had was the one they sprinkle on top but the crawfish. The meat itself was so bland. It is too bad this place is close to our house but we shall find other hangout spots. read more

Right outside of the Woodlands bubble (and I mean right outside) sits Molly's Pub. If you want a low key bar with affordable craft beer this is a good place for you. The only other bar in the area that serves about as many beers on tap is the Fox & Hound and I hate that corny place. This is way more affordable and the bartenders actually know what the heck they're talking about. When you ask one of Molly's bartenders what a certain beer is they'll tell you its style and flavor and not just it's color. It's not the shiniest bar on the street, but for my money its the friendliest. Molly's doesn't seem like it's trying to prove anything, and that's ok with me. read more

You never have to guess what you're going to get when it comes to Molly's. As with most Montgomery County establishments, this place is smokey on the inside, but if that bothers you, you can always head out to the patio. The view of the I-45 feeder is nothing special, but it gets the job done. Even back in the days when I didn't drink beer, this place always makes me feel like having one. To that end, I have no idea how they pour a mixed drink, but my guess is heavy on the liquor. The crawfish in the spring are not the best and not the worst, but they are quite inexpensive just like everything else at Molly's. If you want to kick back and relax with a beer or cider in hand, this is the place to go. This large pub contains a large indoor and outdoor patio where you can hang out with friends. There is a bar both inside and outside, that features several beers on tap. They even had cider, which is my favorite drink, but is not offered a lot in the states. The outdoor area has plenty of tables, where a pack of cards would come in handy to play some drinking games with your friends. The interior contains a large room with tables as well, in addition to a jukebox, a large ipod (where you can play a song for $1), and 2 dart boards. What a great place to go if you are interested in a night at a pub. The only downside of this bar is the smoking. The smell of smoke will remain on your clothes when you leave this bar. Smoking should be banned from bars in TX. A non-smoking pub would make this pub even better. read more
