I visited in the middle of the day on a Saturday in between my nephew's AAU basketball games and was pleased that it was not crowded. I did a tasting and ordered the cheese plate. I thought I was going to be hungry and need to order something else, but that was not the case. I ended up getting a to go box. The outdoor and indoor seating areas were comfortable and offered options for everyone. My favorite thing about this winery was the specialty sangria they have. My daughter and I went here 09/14 and were amazed at how beautiful the inside and outside was! The property is beautiful! We did a wine testing and decided on getting a bottle! First visit for my three friends and they loved everything about Molon Lave Vineyards . We decided to go on Sunday, rainy day but nothing better than sipping on a glass of wine with friends, laughter, delicious charcuterie and live music in the background! Service was wonderful as I remember from the first time I visited them. KIM was checking on us periodically and offered us free infused chocolate wine to taste. Finally made it to this vineyard! Of course COVID means we don't get to do a tasting, but we did have the red,white, blue slushy and a bottle of Cab Franc. The Cab Franc was amazing! One of the smoothest I have ever had. We went with some friends and got to the vineyard just in time for live music. The two folks who were singing were really good and we really enjoyed the music and the ambiance. Great venue, beautiful property and the ladies working were awesome! I picked a perfect Day to visit, they have this nice pond where the ducks and geese hang out and it's rather peaceful; service was fine, it was only Jason and he was doing a tasting for another couple when I arrived so I let him know I was looking for both a red and a white but on the sweet side and not the dry side so he hooked up with a tasting and I bought a bottle of red and a bottle of white, I also took home a souvenir glass because the Molon lave motto with the spartan helmet you have to add that to your collection, right? I saw the olive oil dipping platter with the bread so I got that and enjoyed it, ran out of the dip with 2 pieces of bread to go but it was ok, the bread was soft and warm so it was fine to eat on its own read more

Deliberately misleading tasting. They advertise a flight of four wines with 2oz pours for $12. They seemed very small when we received them (smaller than a shot glass sized glass and that's 1.5 oz) and looking at the bottom of the cup, they were only 1oz. My first visit to Molon Lave - been on my "to try" list for some time... It was a Friday afternoon - and I was by myself - not many people visiting the winery at this snapshot in time. I tasted ten wines in all. We started with the whites, of which there were three, then moved on to the reds/desserts. Out of all the wines, I really liked their Chambourcin and the Merlot. I ended up buying a bottle each of these two wines. The winery tasting room was comfortable, and my wine host (I believe his name was Roy?) was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions. Visited for the wine, stayed for the surroundings. At $5 a tasting, Molon Lave (a very cool Greek term for 'come and get it') gives one of the cheapest tastings around. While my pours were on the slim side, for that price I can be forgiving. Most of the whites have a citrus or apple nose. I thought several were decent, but the standout was the 2012 Attica white blend. Definitely liked it. And by that I mean, I really, REALLY liked it. For me, liking whites is unusual; choosing to buy a white over a red is nearly unheard of. This was definitely turning out to be a unique tasting experience. The reds were harder to judge because they had recently run out of several vintages (note to self - must do more tastings in the winter). But I did get a sample of the Chambourcin-based 2012 Adiade port-style and Cab Franc. The port didn't have an especially bold taste like I'm accustomed to; I liked it for its smoothness, but I did kinda miss the bold alcohol flavor I get in other ports. The Cab Franc wasn't too bad either. While Molon Lave doesn't look like a big facility, I found it to be one of the best designed. The main tasting room has 3 wine bars alone; another bar is in the next room over, and a big reception room was in the back. The outdoor facilities were especially impressive; there's a nice patio overlooking the pond with several grills. Definitely a group-friendly location. read more

Visited Yesterday with a friend to use my LivingSocial deal and had a great time. The vineyard tour was a bit short and concise but it was very educational.The vineyard has the most amazing view and offers a bunch of different wines.Its really cool that they offer kosher wines and the fact that they are still a growing vineyard means that there are big things to be expected.They bottle and make their wine right on the premises. Our deal was just for the tour and the olive oil tasting but wine tasting was just $5 and that was for 7 wines and a sangria. Not bad and they also offer crackers and cheese to help change your palate when tasting the wine. The person doing our wine tasting was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines he was serving. These wines aren't aged as long as some wines so they have more of a crispness but hint of acidity to it. But to each his own when it comes to whether or not you think this wine is for you. Our tour guide suggested we do the wine tasting first before the olive oil since some of the oils were strong and would mask out palates. The olive oil tasting wasn't as large of a station as I was expecting but it wasn't bad. I wish that the bread wasn't so dainty. But you're there to taste the olive oil so bread should be a side note. But the olive oils were fabulous especially since the herbs were pressed with the olives when processing. I believe the olive oils are actually imported from Greece. Overall a great experience even though our tour ended awkwardly and we had to ask questions to find out how we were suppose to proceed with our tasting.Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

This is a very unique winery. The service was exceptional and our pourer was incredibly attentive and courteous. It has a very down to Earth vibe among the employees. The wine was ok. There was a lot of unique vintages of grapes and wine inspired in the Greek tradition. However much of the tasting menu is sweet wines that are fortified with brandy. I'm admittedly slightly obsessed with Molon Lave! I am pretty sure they could add me and my husband as dependents and the IRS wouldn't bat an eye. We have been coming here for years, but as of August, we officially became club members and discovered all that this little gem has to offer. First off, whatever the season, there is something truly spectacular chilling or warming behind the bar. The sangria in the summer is something not to be missed. They regularly rotate their offerings, but if you catch the Blueberry Mojito Sangria made with their Cabernet Sauvignon... you are in for absolute magic! In the fall and winter months, there is warm mulled wine, which I also find myself craving! There is ample room for tastings, they have bars set up in different rooms so not everyone is crowded together, yelling wine descriptions over each other. They have tables set up throughout their rooms as well as two tops sprinkled about. There are also two large patio areas that overlook the pond that are a great choice when the weather is nice. The tasting is $10.00 per person, the price does increase if there are parties of more than 8. (I think it goes to $15.00 at that point, none the less, worth every penny!) I won't go into details on all the wines, but a few that do stand out to me... their Chardonnay! Gasp! I said it. Me ... the hater of all things chardonnay actually just put into writing that I enjoyed one! Quite frankly, it's delicious. As I mentioned before, the Cabernet Sauvignon is to die for... and if you are into dessert wines (which I am) their Port is amazing. We always always always have a bottle or three floating around in case the occasion arises. (Like a Wednesday.) I simply cannot rave about this place enough. Every time we are there, we're treated like part of the family. It is always my first suggestion to anyone looking for a great winery and an absolute must for any guest we have coming from out of town. We recently held a rehearsal dinner at Molon Lave for my son and daughter-in-law. The rehearsal dinner was the perfect start to the wedding weekend, and we owe that to Evy and the wonderful staff at Molon Lave. Evy's expertise and guidance related to both planning the event, selecting wines, and working with our caterer made this event run smoothly. She made the whole process easy. She also kept up to date on the changing situation due to COVID-19 occupancy rules and safety measures and made sure she communicated those updates to me. She really put my mind at ease. Add on to her expertise that she is kind and pleasure to work with, and all I can say is that we had a perfect evening! The Molon Lave staff were also knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with and took great care of all the guests. I can't write a review about Molon Lave without mentioning the location and setting. The vineyard overlooks a small lake. We held the rehearsal dinner on the outdoor pavilion overlooking the lake and rolling hills beyond. As the sun set and the fire pits were lit, all I can say is this place is absolutely stunning! Unfortunately the wine has not been fermented properly, and has turned into vinegar instead of wine. I had two varieties of white wine, and they were both un-drinkable . I've read that when anything gets into the juice while fermenting, it can cause the process to stop and leave the product as a vinegar instead of a wine. Very disappointing. Buyer beware! I LOVE the atmosphere of this winery. Its located on a lake. Inside, they have these beautiful windows overlooking the scenery. They had a lovely double sided fireplace. We tried the wine tasting and the wines themselves were just ok in my opinion. The mulled wine was definitely the best and very good. It was perfect for a nice cold winter day. I've enjoyed the tastings and the service provided by the family who owns the winery. Overview: Molon Lave Vineyards is a family owned near Warrenton, Virginia. The vines were established in 2003, the winery opened it's doors in November of 2009. The family, originally from Greece, has done an excellent job establishing the property and wines. Set on a beautiful property with many acres of grapes, and a nice pond next to the winery provides a pretty setting for this winery. The wines also reflect the families work and passion for their wines, and they bring a different style with their European wine making traditions and use of Virginia grown grapes. My experience: The area surrounding the winery provides the setting for a beautiful and relaxing experience. As you turn off into the area, you drive past part of the vineyard and see the pond in the distance. As you walk to the entrance of the winery, you look around the corner to the pond and it's picturesque landscape. The winery atmosphere inside is open, with plenty of seating throughout, and a fire place in the center. The first time I went, there were many larger groups of 20+, and it was very crowded but still left plenty of seating and areas to enjoy a glass. I was greeted by Katherine Papadopoulos, who also provided part of my last wine tasting. Although I didn't realize the first time that she was part of the family who owned and operates the winery, she was still happy to help and provide a tasting. I was happy to have been served by her, she provided friendly and knowledgeable experience about the history and wines that I don't think anyone else could have provided it better. The tasting was good priced at $5.00 and the pours were fair as well. The wines consist of ten different varietals of grapes. The estate grown grapes include Chardonnay, Riesling, Vidal, Chambourcin, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more. I personally favored the Chambourcin, Merlot, and Kokineli. They also provided a taste of their Sangria which they made and was delicious. I regret that I didn't try the olive oil and saw that others have had olive oil tastings. I also don't know what food is provided, but know they had cheese to sample with a few of their wines. Overall: I would recommend this winery. The location and atmosphere provides a nice setting to try a wide range of their varietals. The staff, especially Katherine, made the experience exceptional.It's great to have a family run winery, and those who also pour, giving the best information about the history and an appreciation for the winery.The wines were fairly good, and I highly recommend the Kokineli, a traditional Greek style rose. My husband and I absolutely love Molon Lave, we recently got married there and everyone was so amazing and helpful, especially Evy! After our tasting it was so hard to figure out which wines we wanted for the wedding because everything tasted so good! We got lucky with the timing of our wedding and we were able to enjoy their beer as well, which was also delicious. The guests at our wedding were raving about the winery and how beautiful it is. The Kokkineli seems to be a pride of theirs, and their dessert wine is out of this world, but their more "normal" whites and reds are superb as well. The Sangria was amazingly refreshing, though I ended up leaning towards the Cab Sav more. Definitely do a tasting - it costs only $8 and you get to experience their entire set of wines. We stopped in and I was surprised by the Trojan/Spartan helmet as the logo. The tasting guide explained that this was a Greek winery and that the wines were made in the Greek tradition. We walked away with a bottle of the Viognier which seemed to encapsulate sweet, dry, and spicy in a single wine. The guide was a young guy who actually seemed engaged in what he was doing instead of just pouring wine. No fault of the vineyard, but there was a group of young women, cackling loudly (bachelorette party), which made it difficult to hear. Probably one of the worst wineries I have never been to. Went there as we had a Groupon. Tour was horrible..only was shown the basement and didn't get to go out in the vineyard itself which it was a gorgeous day out for it. No olive oil tasting which was part of the deal...and the wines...they tasted horrible and over priced. We have been to many wineries before and by far, this has been the worst on wine itself and customer service. We were the last tour of the day and got ripped off, rushed, and I would definitely not recommend this. By the way, they charge you for the wine tasting which they don't tell you. Sad to say, but we hated this winery. We have never poured out so many glasses of our wine tasting. We don't know if the vines are too young for grape production or what otherwise went wrong, but with only one exception the wines were either sickly sweet or had an odd medicinal tint.
