I have been coming to Momas for 8-10 years- prior and new owners. In all that time i have never complained about a service or asked them to fix it. I had a gel manicure prior to heading to work conference on a friday afternoon. By Sunday both thumbs and lost half their polish. I was headed to Europe and couldn't fix the manicure but took a photo with the date stamp to show it was less than 2 days from the service. Within a week 8 nails had peeled. I went back to momas asking them to remedy and showing photo and was told i would need to pay for a new gel manicure. I was shocked and told them this was my first complaint and felt it was legitimate and would not pay to fix nails that didn't last 40 hours. The owner than raised his voice and which point I asked him not to speak to me that way, and I told him I would take my service elsewhere. I definitely miss the original owners; it's not the same. I have always paid for services and tipped well but I do expect some level of customer service. I cannot recommend this nail salon any longer. read more

Had a great experience w/my 3 gf's. We each chose the Green Tea Pedicure and it was worth every penny & then some. It was so relaxing but also, so rejuvenating & revitalizing. The lovely woman who did my pedicure was gentle and did a wonderful job!I also have to mention how clean this place is. They really take the extra step by lining the foot soaking tubs with new liners after each use and of course scrubbing and wiping everything down. Back & shoulder massages are also available for a few extra $ and it's well worth it. They do include a quick shoulder squeeze with your pedicure too, which feels so good, while you're feet dry. I was given this gift certificate for a birthday a few years ago. I had found it recently and saw that there was no expiration date marked. This gives me the impression that it would be accepted still. Even if this was an error on the seller's end for not marking a date, legally they should still honor the gift certificate since there was no way of knowing otherwise since it was a gift. I went in to get a pedicure today and the service was good, I'm overall satisfied with my experience. Except when I went to pay with the gift certificate, the owner refused to take it. He claimed that since he is a different owner (from 2021 onward) that he could not accept it because they use different certificates now. He claimed to not even recognize it, despite the business logo and address clearly printed and a specific call number assigned to the certificate in the top right corner. I feel that it is poor business to not honor a gift certificate that technically is not supposed to expire. I do not live in the area, and do not frequent this establishment, so there is no way I was supposed to know they're under new ownership nor that my giftcard would be invalid. By his logic, the giftcard would be invalid starting in 2021 when the new ownership began, which would mean it could have only been used for 3 months which is absurd, especially since it was not marked and I do not have the receipt for this as it was a gift. If anyone else potentially has old gift certificates, don't bother because they will not honor it. I have given Moma too many chances and this was the last one. I've been going here for years through various management, but over the past eight months all of my experiences have been less than enjoyable I'll start first was at their pricing practices are a little shady if you ask for verification about what you're paying for. The last time I was there I was asked if I would like a massage I said yes thinking it was complementary with perhaps an overlay tip but no I was charged $10 for 10 minutes and I wasn't given the massage that should've been done with my manicure. It's not clear what service as you get with a manicure versus a gel manicure for us is a acrylic manicure. Some include paraffin some do not. Again the nail technician has no idea what she's talking about which leads me to my next appointment. That is no one speaks fluent English, including the owner. When you're paying, you also have to specifically asked for the class before tax or you'll be tipping out on taxed amount. Last manicure, which was removing acrylic nails the girl literally burned my nail bed, also for my pedicure at the arch of my foot was completely scratched up and hurt. They have no email address which I find very interesting and their website is in their native language. Well first off I made an appointment to get a dip and tip than a pedicure on Friday at 1. I went in with my 2 friends who had also made an appointment and they made us wait an extra 30 mins and told me that I hadn't had an appointment. 30 mins later we got in and they did my pedicure great then they told me my nails were gonna be 40 for a dip and tip then changed it to 70. Have been a 'regular' for 2+ years and have never been let down. I always make an appointment because they can get busy, but always seem to accommodate everyone. If you come during less busy hours, you get extra attention and long massages. Very pleasant, kind staff, reasonably priced. I will be a customer for many years. Shellac manicures last 2-3 weeks; pedicures 6+weeks. And they know how to properly wax your eyebrows and not burn or damage your skin. ***Update - I'm sad to say that after 2+ years as a regular customer, I was 10 minutes late for an appointment. The salon was so overbooked, that I was told I'd have to come back the next day. I feel like this salon tries too hard to take on as many clients as possible, which I understand from a fiscal standpoint, but turning away a regular customer for a very small first offense is kind of ridiculous. Just had one of the rudest experiences at Moma's Nails. Walked in with my friend and waited at the counter for five minutes for someone to help us. When we were finally acknowledged, I politely asked if there would be a long wait for two manicures and pedicures. She mumbled something inaudible and then shoved the appointment book in my face and told me if I could find any time available on the schedule then maybe she could fit us in. A simple, "no, we don't have any availability today" would have been fine. They may want to brush up on their customer service skills. I will not be back. read more

A total nightmare! If I could give ZERO stars I would. My daughter and I came in and I sat down to my pedicure while my little gal waited for her turn. What unfolded was what I assume was a miscommunication with the 'manager' (or in this case, NO communication at all from the manager) and my 8 year daughter and I left. The manager did not state or articulate a matter of policy (I assume?). As ten+ other Litchfield women looked on, she scolded us, all the while her colleague (or husband?) continued with my pedicure. For a few very humiliating and dead silent moments, I tried to ascertain what was unfolding before realizing she was throwing me and my 8 year old daughter out. It was awful! We had not made a peep beyond picking our nail colors and sitting quietly. (I've seen people be incredibly loud, drunk (!!!) and obnoxious at this place, so this was all rather mystifying). If the manager had communicated the policy (in any form!) when my little girl and I came in to the salon, we would have gladly complied. Instead, she said nothing. As we walked out and tears streamed down my daughter's face, we both felt the hot burn of humiliation on our cheeks. We are still flummoxed by such shabby treatment from someone whose business's singular purpose is to make people comfortable, content and relaxed. We feel quite the opposite. We've come here 50+ times for mother/daughter time. It is a very odd place (and kind of dumpy to boot). The kindly technicians don't utter a word and seem to be in total fear of the manager, with her faux professorial glasses. I imagine they're trying their best to ignore the heated, hostile exchanges she shares with her husband/co-manager. This exchange truly took the cake for all-time embarrassing situations. As I tried to comfort my teary, embarrassed child, I realized that this woman is not meant to be in the service business and quickly needs to learn how to a) communicate (use your words, as I tell my young students) to avoid, b) totally embarrassing people who come in hoping for a positive, affirming experience at this place of business. They took me almost immediately which I was impressed with...most nail places seem to not honor appts. My pedicure was fantastic with an awesome massage. I got a gel French manicure. I think one of the owners was the one doing my nails. The end result was great but the experience wasn't. She was answering the phone and helping people which wouldn't have been a big deal if the phone didn't constantly ring and people didn't constantly come in the door, causing her to keep walking away. I would never go there without an appt based on the way she treated walk ins. When people asked how long the wait was she would just say "a long time". I would probably return here since my nails came out great but definitely wouldn't go during busy times and always with an appt. read more

I was thoroughly surprised by Moma's. I called on a whim to see if they were able to take my mother and me for a pedicure and they said yes. We arrived and were immediately greeted and taken to chairs to sit. The pedicure began immediately without waiting and the additional massage that was included was fantastic. My tech went above and beyond in my opinion. While my toes dried, my tech gave me a neck massage as well. This was 10x better than the place I usually go to in Virginia and I'm planning to go back the next time I'm visiting. My wife tried to make an appointment for my daugher's 6th birthday - 3 girls for manicures. She was told, despite repeatedly explaining that it would be three 6-year-old girls who shouldn't be waiting for a long time, that it would not be necessary to make an appointment and there would be no problems. When she arrived with the girls, she was told that it would be an hour wait. Lots of ways to deal with this situation on the business end - take the appointment, tell us ahead of time that it wouldn't be a great idea, suggest coming at a different time - any of those options would be great. However, I haven't gone in months because last time a different lady (Jeannie, the owner) did them and messed them up badly. One was almost a centimeter higher than the other, they were different shapes, and just looked awful. She never even asked what I wanted, just went ahead and did them.
