Shipley's is usually a one stop shop at this location. You can get everything done in one swoop. I was scheduled for a new primary care appt but left before I was seen so I can not speak towards the service. Only can speak to the lack of regard for my time or mental state after waiting forever to see the new physician. I asked how much longer she said soon I said you told me that nearly 45mins ago. I said if I rescheduled would I be waiting long like this again she said maybe I said don't worry and left. No respect for peoples time nor any concern for their health.

From the folks you talked to when you called to place an appointment, to the front desk staff when you arrive, everybody is very friendly, helpful, but also professional. Dr. Martin's support staff is also great. When you're getting your vitals taken, you're never treated like they are in a rush and they also always make sure to answer any questions you may have. Dr. Martin is amazing. She is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, but takes a whole body approach. She asks a lot of questions and gives you time to share any of your concerns with her. Neither of us have ever felt rushed when we were. The office is very spacious with a large waiting area and very well-maintained. If you need lab work done, they even have a lab downstairs in the same building; so it's very convenient. If you're looking to switch primary care providers, I cannot say enough great things about this practice.

It's funny how patients can wait 15 min or more but doctors can make you wait much longer. This doctor decided his time was just too important with an empty waiting room. Totally unacceptable. Johns Hopkins apparently doesn't have a late policy at all locations... From a quick web search: Johns Hopkins has different late policies by department, but generally, being more than 10-15 minutes late may result in rescheduling or being placed on a waitlist for later availability, so it is crucial to call the specific clinic ahead of time. Some locations also apply a grace period, while others consider lateness a no-show, potentially leading to a fee or even discharge from the practice for repeat offenses. Not good customer service. I think I'll find a new doctor and new location.

His manner is calm, competent, and thorough. Subsequent visits have been the same: the waiting room might have many patients, but when it's my turn to be in the office, I feel like I have the time I need to talk to him about my concerns. I have never felt rushed in my appointments, and because I am not feeling pressured about time, I am better able to express my concerns and have a productive, efficient visit. I don't get rushed out of the office thinking, "Shoot, I meant to ask about this..." By the way, you might get his answering machine sometimes when you call the office to make an appt., but they always return my calls very quickly -- last time they called me back within about 15 minutes.

A week later, my biopsy results reveal an acute cancer...and I'm admitted to UMMC for immediate chemotherapy treatment. I do not recommend. Listen to your body, and fight your way through until you're priority.

The results were sent last week but could not be found and had to be requested again and refaxed to them again. Had to leave not knowing if results would or would not allow surgery. She also stated that they did not have EKG results to compare to. Had to remind her that I had it done in that office with her in 2014 and at the physical 4 months earlier she selected not to do one. Leaving that practice. Long waits for the appt. They don't read the comments in the patient database and now lose and don't follow up with results.

Unfortunately, every attempt to schedule that follow-up was handled extremely unprofessionally. My first follow-up appointment was canceled 10 minutes before the visit after I had already left work and arrived. The second time, I arrived to a locked office with no staff answering the phone. The third appointment was canceled because the provider had left the practice. The fourth time, I again arrived to a locked door and waited 35 minutes before receiving a call from the receptionist saying she had been at lunch. After four failed attempts and multiple instances of taking time off work, I cannot recommend this office. The level of disorganization and lack of communication was extremely frustrating and unprofessional.
