My husband and I each switched primary care providers to this office several years ago. Each of us see Dr. Martin and she is fantastic. From the folks you talked to when you called to place an appointment, to the front desk staff when you arrive, everybody is very friendly, helpful, but also professional. Dr. Martin's support staff is also great. When you're getting your vitals taken, you're never treated like they are in a rush and they also always make sure to answer any questions you may have. Dr. Martin is amazing. She is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, but takes a whole body approach. She asks a lot of questions and gives you time to share any of your concerns with her. Neither of us have ever felt rushed when we were. The office is very spacious with a large waiting area and very well-maintained. If you need lab work done, they even have a lab downstairs in the same building; so it's very convenient. If you're looking to switch primary care providers, I cannot say enough great things about this practice. read more

I had an appointment with Danny Huy Nguyen at 2:30PM. Unfortunately I arrived 15 min late. They had to check with the doctor who decided to turn me away. It's funny how patients can wait 15 min or more but doctors can make you wait much longer. This doctor decided his time was just too important with an empty waiting room. Totally unacceptable. Johns Hopkins apparently doesn't have a late policy at all locations... From a quick web search: Johns Hopkins has different late policies by department, but generally, being more than 10-15 minutes late may result in rescheduling or being placed on a waitlist for later availability, so it is crucial to call the specific clinic ahead of time. Some locations also apply a grace period, while others consider lateness a no-show, potentially leading to a fee or even discharge from the practice for repeat offenses. Not good customer service. I think I'll find a new doctor and new location. read more

Dr. D has been my doctor for 15 years and him and the rest of the staff at Johns Hopkins Community of Physicians are the upmost professional. The location is awesome and parking is plentiful. The offices are clean and they respect all COVID protocols. I can't think of a better place to take my business. read more

My parents are both long time patients of this facility but recent events have pushed us to the decision to look for a new provider- tough to have to stomach at their age of 72. My father suffers from Parkinson's and recently had a stroke so is no longer able to drive and my mother has never driven. Getting them to and from appointments is challenging due to my schedule. I was quite happy to hear at their last appointment that they qualified to have home care. That is where the good feeling ended. It almost seems as if their provider (after switching their care) has washed her hands of them. My father was prescribed a new insulin injection pen which was shipped direct to their home. Imagine my disappointment when going to administer his first shot to find that not only did they not come with needles, but they were never actually prescribed! I called the office 3 times to request a prescription be sent as well as sending a message through his chart. My father's appt was on 11/19 when the pens were prescribed, and after receiving no response, I ultimately had to order needles for him from Amazon on 12/12! ALMOST 1 MONTH! Now let's get to the home care portion of my story... He was to have his first visit on 12/13 and we were given a window of 9-4 and told we would receive a call when the doctor was on the way. My brother took the day off to be with my parents for this first visit and I patiently watched my phone all day waiting for the call. At 3:45 my brother was concerned and reached out to Hopkins only to be told that the doctor was out sick and would not be coming! This would have been nice to know as soon as word came in that the doctor would not be working that day! Working for a doctor's office myself, I find this sort of thing extremely disturbing and cannot imagine allowing my parents to continue being cared for (or NOT being cared for in this case) by John's Hopkins. Went to this location to establish care with a primary care doctor, as my previous one retired. I arrived at the office just 1 minute before my appointment time. The front desk was able to check me in right away. The wait for the nurse was quick, about 5-10 minutes. My appointment with the internal med doctor was quick and efficient. There is a Johns Hopkins Lab on the ground level of this building for bloodwork needs. read more

This review is for the Odenton office. I recently started with a new primary care doctor at this location because mine retired. At my first visit, Dr. Gadiwalla changed my blood pressure medication even though it had been ordered by my cardiologist and was working well for me. At my second appointment, I had tested positive for Covid at home and was very anxious because my brother-in-law, with no risk factors, had contracted Covid and died within 3 weeks time. This doctor was incredibly condescending and rude to me about my concerns. I'm in my sixties, and on top of hypertension I also have asthma and chronic bronchitis. Before seeing her for the first time, I had a bout of bronchitis lasting 8 weeks where I had to be on prednisone and antibiotics twice during that time period. About four weeks after that is when I tested positive for Covid. I was scared. This doctor did not care that I was high risk. She refused to order Paxlovid because my blood work was 2 years old and she said I might have renal failure. I was also told I couldn't get blood work to prove my renal function was fine while I was positive for Covid. I have no risk factors for renal failure (my blood pressure has always been well controlled), my renal function blood work has always been normal and I have been at this practice for several years so she could check my medical record. She then said it was because I was on a new blood pressure medication. I told her I had been on that same medication for years prior to my cardiologist changing it to the one I was on at my first appointment and my renal function had been fine. Again, she could check that, but she didn't care. She was not going to budge even though Covid was obviously a much bigger concern for me than renal failure. After I continued to protest, she finally agreed to order the renal dose Paxlovid and told me I might want to find another practice, I guess because she didn't like me convincing her that there was no reason for me not to take Paxlovid? I recovered from Covid but I now have long Covid symptoms. I went to see her a third time and she told me I didn't need to see her and that I could have gone to Urgent Care or another practitioner (she was the only one available for the week when I called that Monday morning-I wonder why...) She then basically bullied me and said to cancel my appointment for my physical with her in December and find another primary care doctor. Believe me, after her lack of compassion and absence of any effort to know my medical history, I certainly will. I left this appointment feeling like I had been bullied by an incompetent doctor. read more

Although I like their hours and location, those factors are not enough for the lack of competence displayed. I tolerated the long wait time and poor bedside manner, but the poor record keeping, the lack of followup and the dismissal of symptoms are where I draw the line. After six visits, two misdiagnosis, the fact that the doctor repeatedly asked me for information about 2 referrals he never gave me, the fact that I had to call back because I was prescribed (for a second time) a medication that was not working for me and on this last visit he didn't even take the time to familiarize himself with my chart. I was done. Dr. Saade is new to this location but if you can avoid him do so. He incorrectly diagnosed my condition and tried to dismiss my complaint. When I asked for a referral he ignored me. Then told me to read a book and figure this out. This is beyond reckless to me. I get that my issue has been causing me pain for months and after my 10 minute visit he gets to go on with his life. But at least send me to someone who could address the issue. User beware, I would not want to subject anyone else to this. If you want a doctor that partners in your health, choose someone else. In my personal experience with him, I found that he DOES NOT listen, DOES NOT communicate well and DOES NOT follow up. But he DOES collect your copay and insurance money. read more

I went here as a new patient and Dr. Spell may be the least compassionate doctor I've ever met. She immediately dismissed anything I told her. I've never walked away from a doctors appointment feeling so terrible. Her bedside manner is awful and she had absolutely no concern for how her patients feel. I left comments with Hopkins but never heard back. Don't ever go to her unless you enjoy feeling like a worthless meat sack. I'll be switching doctors for sure! read more

I've taken my children here on 3 occasions this year, and every time you call to make an appointment, the phone number is for an appointment line, and they tell you to arrive 20 minutes before your appt time. And so each time, we come early, only to be checked in, and then finally a nurse will check height, weight, temp. And then you sit in a room for 20 minutes before the doctor comes in. I'm a patient person, but this is a peds office. Toddlers have nothing to do in confined spaces for that long. The patient rooms don't have books or toys or cartoons, so why would you make children wait in there for an extended period of time? Today I had a follow up appointment for my 20 month old, and after waiting for 45 minutes I walked out, and as I passed the front desk a woman called out my name and asked if I was leaving, I said yes, I can't wait for the doctor all day, she replies, I'll page her, I said no, she should've been 'paged' when I got here, or when I was put in the room. I continued out the door and heard her say 'she's there now' and I dont know if she heard me but I started rambling while walking to my car with two toddlers about how I didn't care and my time isn't free, I took off work, and had spent all day yesterday in the emergency room. Obviously I don't know, but I was the only one sitting in the waiting area when we arrived, and when I left, there was only one person waiting. So it was the least busy (at least it seemed) visit I've ever seen there. Wtf. read more

Wow, Vida & Cindy's reviews are polar opposites. lol I had been going to this doctors for the last 10 years--and then I grew up and got my own insurance. Here's the breakdown of JHU Bayview: 1. You can get an appointment easily for the newer physicians or the more unpopular ones. Once you get in the groove with your doctor, they gradually become less and less available. In the last 3 years, I've been through 4 doctors (the best one had an almost 2-month waiting time...good thing I wasn't about to DIE). I've had enough. 2. These people are MAD expensive! And for what you get, honestly, it's not worth it. 3. They have absolutely no capabilities on site except blood withdrawal, it seems. No X-rays....no MRIs or anything..I remember earlier this year, I sprained my toe and could barely walk--they didnt even have a shoe or a crutch to give me. I hobbled for the next week (I refused to buy that shoe for something that was going to go away. lol) I know that's somewhat of a luxury for medical offices, but it was kind of a letdown having to get referrals and try out new places every time I needed something to get looked at. 4. Generally, they're on time, if you get to your appointment on time. 5. The desk staff isn't very professional...I ALWAYS have to wait for somebody to come back to the front desk and realize that I'm there (with the exception of the main office since it's generally always busy). It's a bit unnerving standing waiting to be seen when you can hear the receptionist having a pointless, personal conversation with the nurses behind the wall. If they're going to do that, they need a bell or something. This was more than enough to make me leave. I hate the idea of trial and error in the hopes of finding a new doctor, but I can't take these people anymore. I'm going to try my luck in Columbia. read more

I have been here twice and find this clinic wonderful! As a military spouse who has only been with military hospitals, I found this place a breath of fresh air. As military, I am grateful that we are offered the option of going to a Johns Hopkins Medical Center. The care my sons have received has been outstanding and will be sad when we will PCS from the area. I have never had an issue getting appointments and my picking up prescriptions is quick and convenient. As for a previous reviewers, I have not been disappointed, I have been to a few military installations and knowing that my medical and more importantly my children needs are being met by JOHNS HOPKINS, I am satisfied with the level of care. read more

My children and I have been going to the Odenton Clinic for the past four years and have been very happy with our experience. As a military spouse I choose to switch to Johns Hopkins after having a disappointing experience at the Kimbrough Clinic on Fort Meade. I love my physician, Dr. Larson, who always makes appointments easier by allowing me to schedule my kids in back to back appointments with her. She is fast, efficient and caring and the kids love her! I never wait for more than 15 minutes for an appointment and if immunizations are needed we can get them done during the appointment. They also have a walk in flu clinic each year that is fast and easy. The only negative experience I have had is waiting on hold forever while trying to schedule an appointment. I also think they should have a staff person dedicated to answering questions and handling paperwork and scheduling requests. read more

The service is horrible and unprofessional. The doctor works part time and no covering physician coordinates care in her absence. The care team is inadequate and give false information just to rush you off the phone with your concerns. I've had lingering health issues and within two months I have yet to formally know what is ailing me. They make inadequate referrals without properly completing the prior authorizations or peer reviews. In the meantime I've been left with the same existing ailments and no proper follow through. read more

I waited 3 weeks for a new patient appt, and had expressed some concerns for health issues I was having, just to be called an hour before my appt and told that they would have to reschedule the appt to over a month later! The receptionist that called me was curt and didn't offer any other doctors or any suggestions on how to address my health concerns. I was so disappointed! This is one of the worst places I've ever been to for healthcare. I took my daughter here to see the Gyno, the Allergy specialist and a primary care Dr. My daughter had complications from endometriosis as well as a rare blood disorder and the doctors were not very knowledgeable. The primary care was patient and attentive but when we needed additional documentation she ignored me. The nurses there are fantastic, but the level of care I got there was worse than Kaiser. The Specialists in Baltimore were no better. We see wonderful doctors outside of Hopkins now and couldn't be happier. And definitely do not go to their ENTAA allergy people unless it's just routine seasonal allergies because, their doctors don't know anything outside of that. I had to take my daughter to another allergy specialist who diagnosed her with MCAS which I had never even heard of. based on her histamine reactions, new doctor said it was good that she got treated sooner than later as she could have bad complications from histamine intolerance. read more

Lots of problems with this office, you need to schedule appointments weeks out. If you are scheduled for labs or 2nd appointment make sure it's in the system and you have a copy from office/ Dr before you leave office. It's common practice that they forget to enter the data in their system and you waste a day try to fix the problem. And the kicker is that they expect you to an extra co-pay got their mistake. read more

This place really deserves ZERO stars. We scheduled an appt over 2 weeks ago at JHCP-Odenton for my step-son for a new patient appt. He is a college student, drove to this office between classes and was told upon arriving that there would be a 2-3 hour wait due to computer glitches all day...and BTW they close at 5 so they had to reschedule him for a week later. This is totally unacceptable and we will be looking elsewhere for internal medicine! Why didn't he/we receive a call to reschedule prior to arrival before he wasted his time and gas money on this appointment? I've never heard of such incompetence at a doctor's office. We go to another location of JHCP for family practice and have had no problems at all. read more

I don't think this place deserves even 1 star. I have been coming here for 13 years and I now find that the doctors here don't care about the well-being o their patients at all. I saw a cardiologist because my Primary physician said that I had mild Left ventricular hypertrophy and the cardiologist just told me that I really don't and nothing is wrong with me without running any tests or further diagnostics. Having hypertension for 13 years is not nothing and not being able to climb a flight of stairs without feeling like passing out is not nothing. I am not overweight and have heart disease in my family. If it isn't my heart, then tell me that it could be vascular, but don't talk me out of diagnostics and tell me nothing is wrong with me. I am so upset. Don't come here. They really don't care about you or how you're feeling. read more

I wish I could give a half star. I'm very displeased with the customer service here. I have been utilizing this facility for pediatrics for 8 years. And have had several situations where I have felt less than appreciated. However, I am usually not one to demonstrate my frustrations. But, this most recent episode of mistreatment toward me was the breaking point. This is the second time I have trotted all the way up there to retrieve paperwork that the doctor filled out, of which I was told that they would be mailing to me, only to find out when I get there, they HAVE MAILED IT OUT A WEEK AGO. During this visit, again the second time this has happened since we have been using them, the receptionist, Gail, was not patient, did not have a conversation with me, did not apologize for any inconvenience, pretty much said nothing to me other than that they were mailed. Unacceptable. But I continued to be calm cool and collected as I asked for help with another issue. A paper I had was incorrectly completed. I was trying to discuss this with Gail, and she was of no help, did not seem to care about my problem and dismissed me. Finally, I had left my insurance card in a kiosk months prior and being a busy mother of three did not get back up there to pick it up for some time. I explained to Gail, that I received a call from their staff stating i could come pick the card and to tell reception that the card would be in the safe. Gail said give her a minute, got up and left the reception area. Mind you, I have my two boys with me (5 and 2). They are running all over the place and misbehaving and having to use the bathroom. I am trying to keep them from being disruptive and having an adult conversation with Gail. Gail appears to not notice my struggling with my kids and continues to work at a snails pace. I continue to wait as patiently as possible for her return. Suddenly, another person who appears to have some authority comes to the reception area and says, "Where's Gail? She asked me to get something from the safe for her and I can't find her anywhere." Well, I turned to this female and say very calmly, she is looking for my insurance card. The female was quite unprofessional. She looked at me from the side of her eye, then looked away without acknowledging me in the least (other than her dissatisfied expression that I even had the nerve to butt into her public conversation that pertained to me). At that point I stormed out of there and said mail it to me. I was so upset. I felt quite unheard, disregarded, unappreciated. I am writing this because I hope that Johns Hopkins Community reads this. I tried to make a complaint on their site but could not find out how. And quite frankly, I do not want to waste anymore of my time with this situation. I find it outrageous that those who work with the public, who work with people who have to have their children with them, are inefficient, unfriendly, and just plain rude. More training is necessary or consideration of transferring such people to a department where interaction with patients is not part of their duties. We all have bad days, so I was trying to be patient in the beginning, but by the end, when the woman who ignored me came out to find Gail, who I had been waiting for, for an extremely long time, again with no explanation or apology for not being able to help me, I was really brought to the edge. I will be looking for a different pediatrician office. read more

Dr. Larson has been my PCP for several years and I like her very much. I feel like she genuinely listens to my concerns and takes her time treating me. My husband sees her as well and is pleased with her. However, it can take forever to get an appointment with her. My irritation is the main office. I find it unacceptable that more than just a few times, I call to make an appointment and the phone lines are not being answered during business hours. I have been calling today since 8am and it's now 9am... they have supposedly been open for an hour. UNACCEPTABLE!!! read more

I had an appointment back in March and have called to speak to the nurse for follow up questions since April 1st. Five phone calls and one in person visit and each time told that I would get a call back. Today I was told that they will not call me back unless it is marked urgent. I commented while it was NOT urgent, to mark it urgent if that is the only was I can get a call back. Highly considering changing doctors. read more

This applies to the blood lab which is absolutely unacceptable. I went in there for bloodwork. There were 3 people ahead of me, 4 women sitting behind the counter doing nothing noticeable and, for 15 minutes, no movement. I was finally called up only to be told that I had to go next door and get paperwork. During this time, a small 2-3 year old girl was screaming as she had her blood taken. One of the women put her hands over hers ears, singing la-la-la to herself. If she cannot handle what is normal from a small child, she should be encouraged to find other work. If it requires more than one person to manage the desk, they need adult supervision. If at least 3 of the 4 cannot draw blood, reduce then staff! Bottom line...I will drive 30 minutes to Annapolis rather than 5 minutes to the Odenton facility. I prefer to deal with professionals! read more

Please note, that a lot of the previous reviews are as old as 2009! So much has changed at this facility since then...so much. They have most services you'll need on-site now and it's very convenient. I have been going here for about 8 years now and have NEVER had a problem. Of course I'm a healthy person, for the most part...so my visits are mostly annual exams, or just little issues that crop up (broken bones, etc). read more

Review is for the JHCP Gaithersburg Maryland location, who apparently doesn't have a Yelp entry and I can kind of see why. I just spent 22 minutes in que position 1 on hold waiting to speak with my mother's doctor care team, and that happens fairly often. The staff on the PCP care team lost a physicians form for my mother for an adult-day care program twice. and the day care facility ended up having to fax it directly over a third time, before the PCP even saw it meaning its taken over a month to complete a form that should have only take a few days. The only thing I really like about JHCP is they will arrange a sign language, or many other spoken language, interpreters on request. That is very much appreciated since my mother is deaf. read more

I am having the terrible misfortune of going to this clinic now. Having had real insurance, I have never been found of anything resembling a military base care. Unfortunately, anywhere in this region you are stuck with either on base or Johns Hopkins. That is to say if you are military (past, present or future). Beware of this if you are thinking of joining the military, or marrying anyone in the military. Other regions you are treated like an adult and allowed to see actual doctors of your choice. Ones based on your criteria and your preferences. Here sadly you are no more than a number and a grunt. I will stay specifically with this clinic. I have not been able to get appointments in a timely fashion. Unless one considers 4 weeks a timely fashion. I have actually been told to go to the ER more often than any other place on the planet I have ever lived. Currently, my kid has a fever and this nasty little virus that I have and the clinic is still making him wait 4 weeks. Hello. Medicare or welfare would be better. There is nothing worse than having a kid with the same crap you have and although you are on antibiotics your child is told to wait it out till the appointment. Yes this system is completely screwed up. Getting a prescription is easy. However, personally I got accustomed to Walgreens where I could simply order on line and use the drive thru. Because again, me...personally when I am not well I don't want to move.. let alone stand in some pharmacy waiting around others. I am sure there is some great thing about this place but I have yet to find it. I would love to try the one in Baltimore but this system seems to have real issues with anyone making a decision about their own care and how far they are willing to drive to get quality care. One more thing to keep in mind- anytime a company tells you there is a commitment to use them....run. They require you to use them for a year after you sign up. Good service never requires or needs a contract. The only exception is a contractor. ok there may be others (extremely few) but you get the point. They should not need one if they are "all that". We have had good experiences with our kids here. I book our appts online through MyChart. We see Kim Crim, who we love. The nurses are good, the receptionists are good, the blood lab people are good. In the waiting room they play movies, have a bookshelf, have places for kids to sit and play. Our wait times have been short. Our kids always get stickers. I like the printouts we get with our well child visits. I have nothing to complain about :) read more

I have been bringing my son here for a couple of months now. The people are friendly, the waiting room is nice and not usually crowded when we arrive, and the wait isn't too bad. Occasionally I've had to wait a little longer, but as soon as I ask about the wait, the staff is quick to reach the provider and get us back there ASAP. Attention Pediatric Customers!! This clinic is one to stay away from! For the first few months there have been more than one warning flag. From the attitude by the front staff, no sense of responsability or integrity all around and the general lack of sincerety...I would save yourself the time and headach of having to change Dr.s. Just don't bother with this one in the first place. Being military, we've had a chance to experience care from all around the US and World, this one ranks among the bottom. It takes up to 10-15 minutes just to reach them on the phone, there are many redundant forms you have to fill out before your seen and no one seems to care about your concerns with your questions or impression of their office. Do yourself a favor and drive a little further into Columbia, Crofton or even Annapolis to get the care you and your family deserves. read more

I've been a patient for five years, as have my husband (retired military) and son, after our private practice doctor retired. I've had no problem getting an appointment when I need one, and I'm always able to get a same day appointment if the problem is serious. My doctor is absolutely wonderful, his nurses (there have been two) are always pleasant and efficient, and I have no complaint with the front office staff. I've never experienced a terribly long wait time beyond my appointment. Over the years, I have dealt with private practice physicians, civilian hospitals, and military clinics, and I can say that my experience with Johns Hopkins Odenton is among the best. read more

I've been here numerous times. The building is nice. There always seems to be some drama with the front staff and another patient about half of the times that i've been there. Be aware that this is a facility that sees MANY people, so if you're looking for a more intimate relationship with your doctor, look elsewhere. Don't expect to actually be able to get in contact with your doctor unless you make an appointment. The wait time on the phone to make an appointment varies drastically, but i've waited an average of 10 minutes to make an appointment. My doctor, Dr. Strain, is very nice and empathetic. She's a decent doctor for the everyday sickness, however i'm very disappointed with her lack of medical knowledge on more extensive issues. After being put through 9 months of physical therapy for radiant pain from my spine, she finally sent me for an MRI. Thereafter, she did not even give me a specific diagnosis, but referred me to pain management where i received an explanation from them. I did decline pain management. I didn't want to cover up the symptoms but actually prevent them, if possible. Also, I've been dealing with Lyme disease. If you have Lyme Disease you cannot trust these doctors to properly treat you. If you have finished the antibiotics and still have symptoms, please see an Lyme literate doctor. And a heads up, most Lyme literate doctors do not accept insurance because the insurance companies are known to take them to court because they cost the insurance companies so much money. read more

This is the worst place to take your child...for our daughters one week appt the the weight scales were off by a pound and the dr dr bott made us rush to the hospital and the emergency room and made us feel bad because she was a pound lighter when we got to the emergency we weighed on 2 different scales and come to find out john hopkins pediatrics scales were off... not to mention all of the women that work the front end are all extremely rude and unprofessional. They wear low cut blouses with their books hanging all over the place where they work with children.... heaven forbid you have a question to ask them... they get all ghetto and ignorant and start shouting...
