With attentive, knowledgeable, friendly service by Kiley, our dinner started with an amuse bouche of housemade "butter" heavy cream and sour cream with EVOO and a moist , flavorful foccia. My wife and I both continued with a richly flavored creamy mushroom soup and a special heirloom carrot salad garnished with shaved black truffles and sautéed artichokes. My wife reports that her entree of egg raviolo was very tasty and filling even though it appears small. For myself, I ordered an old favorite - housemade pasta with sautéed mushrooms and shaved truffles - Thank you Chef Nicolo for going out of your way for me. Momento is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We really wanted to like this place but wasn't meant to be. First off, their martini glasses, where the bartender doesn't even fill them full, feel and look like my daughter's play tea set. That's how small they are. They probably only hold mere 6-7 ounces at most when full. The price is extremely overpriced for what you get. Next came my wife's entree. She likes pasta. So she asked the waitress if her veal scallopini lemone can come with pasta instead of mashed potatoes, you know, a typical common substitution, especially at an italian restaurant. The waitress came back, after speaking with the chef, and said he could do it but it would be an up-charge of $8. Really? An up-charge of $8 to substitute pasta for mashed potatoes? You got to be kidding! Even the waitress commented, "Yeah, I know, it should be a simple substitution. We are an italian restaurant selling a lot of pasta. I don't know why they do that, especially when it's not busy." So obviously my wife didn't order that entree. To further make this dinner more unpleasant, my pasta was not even done correctly. The pasta had pieces of it stuck together which made some pieces hard. It was not al dente. Al dente should be cooked to be firm to the bite rather than soft or mushy, not a hard, raw texture like this. What chef would let this go out on a dinner table? All in all we will not be back. There are quite a few wayyyy better restaurants in the area who are great in their craft and care about the next entree that comes out of their kitchen. So so delicious!!! I have been here a couple of times and each time was a wonderful experience!! We called ahead since it was a holiday weekend in the Poconos. We were seated very quickly. Katie was our server and she was wonderful. She read the specials and was very knowledgeable of the menu. I was torn between the chicken Wellington and the roasted salmon. Katie said they were both delicious but recommended the salmon as it melted in your mouth. She was correct. It was delicious!! They are beginning a renovation and it will be stunning once done. If you want to experience a high-end Italian restaurant in the Poconos...this is the restaurant for you. You are greeted at the door by a warm hostess who seats your party. Our waitress was super welcoming, kind, and memorized the WHOLE specials menu (it was very large) ...I was impressed. The staff also changed out our silverware and plates in between courses (which I love). Food and Drinks: The drinks were perfectly balanced and tasted amazing. The calamari was so tender and light! I loved the two sauces they served it with and how they also fried zucchini and jalapenos for an extra kick. The lobster bisque was a show! The seafood was in the puff pastry and the chef comes out to pour the bisque around the puff pastry; might I add, it was also delicious. The pasta was also cooked perfectly, and the sauce had the right balance of flavors with a LOT of seafood! I enjoyed the dinner immensely! We had a dinner reservation at Momento to celebrate a friend's birthday. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, but they had it set up within about 10 minutes, so no big deal. Once seated, we looked over the menu, listened to the specials, and started choosing our dishes. Our wine arrived quickly, so we were off to a good start. About 30 minutes in, we received complimentary bread and fresh burrata, which was a nice touch. But unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Our appetizers--just two orders each of calamari and mussels--took an hour to arrive. At that point, we had already finished our wine and complimentary bread and burrata for over an hour. Then came an even longer wait for our entrées. Our reservation was at 8:00 PM, and we didn't get our main courses until nearly 10:00 PM. What made it worse was the complete lack of communication. No updates, no apologies--just our server walking past us repeatedly without acknowledging the delay. When the food finally came, it was... fine. Nothing memorable. But maybe we were just too tired and hungry by then to fully enjoy it. What's most disappointing is that this place is supposed to be a fine dining experience. The prices certainly suggest that. But the lack of service and care really soured the evening. For the cost, you'd expect great food and great service. Sadly, it was neither. Definitely not worth the price or the long wait. read more

A year later......Food was excellent. Service.....not so much. Maybe our expectations were too high. Our last visit was truly amazing. But this time, well, we arrived on a Tuesday about 5:30 pm. Very few people. After a few minutes we were noticed and then seated. Just the two of us. We waited. Other patrons arrived, were seated and given menus. We waited. Then the other patrons were asked about their drink orders. We waited. Eventually our server arrived with menus, said she'd be right back to take our drink orders. We waited. Unfortunately this theme ran through the entire meal. When we were finally served our meal, my pasta dish was hot, my wife's veal scallopini lukewarm warm. But delicious all the same. Might I add that the other group of 4 behind us finished their drinks and meals and paid their bill and left before we were served our meal. Have to say it wasn't like the service staff was crushed. It was Tuesday afternoon at 6:00. But the mantra for our table seemed to be "I'll be right back". And then she wasn't. Finally,I will say, our expectations for the next visit will be adjusted down to the average restaurant level. We are a little disappointed. read more

I came across this restaurant while away for work. I parked in their private lot. When I walked in I was greeted and decided to sit at the bar. Tommy was my bartender. While dining I kind of felt like they were paying extra attention to other patrons as opposed to me. I had to stare him down in order to get checked on while others had their full attention. I believe the owner was there too and did the same to certain patrons. Kind of awkward feeling. I ordered the black squid ink pasta and shrimp and it was pretty good even though it was luke warm and they had to warm it up for me. They added more squud ink and made it a little soupy but was good. The wine was good and so was the hot tottie. All in all I had an ok experience. read more

Given the number of waiters, perhaps it was unusually slow. Food: Limited vegetarian but innovative menu options - from Egg Yolk Raviolo to Burrata Ravioli with truffle shavings. Hits: Homemade Focaccia with olive oil (had a great salt lick), Mushroom soup and burratta ravioli were yummy. They customized the Capellini as a veggie option and was simple/good.Ok: Egg Yolk Rav, Eggplant Provencal, Zucchini blossom.. too much ricotta in the latter. Service: Great. Except they added a dish on the bill by mistake. Thankfully given the high price to begin with, I caught it. Pricing: NY level prices in PA. We had dinner here on a Friday night. Came in around 8 pm and were quickly seated. Nice variety of wines, cocktails, and whiskeys. I opted for one of their American single malts. Whiskey list was very reasonably priced. We shared a few different starters. I tried the fried calamari and the seared scallops with fried artichoke. Each was nicely prepared and came with a delicious sauce. For the main course, we shared the egg yolk ravioli, fettuccine with vodka sauce, and one of the fish specials of the day. Ravioli is one huge ravioli. It's a super savory dish which is best as a middle course for one or to be shared between two. Fish special was served with a delicious lemony butter sauce similar to a francese. For dessert, we shared their chocolate mousse which was ultra rich. All in all, we had a nice evening. Just as good as every other time we've been. Food is top notch. Some of the best italian and italian style cooking I've seen ouside of Italy. As of late we go for the specials as we have tasted the whole regular menu probably twice over. The oysters are my personal favorite. I still remember the time that the current wine cellar wasn't there but now with the wine cellar in full view wine pairings are just another aspect for this eatery that puts it over the top. Various classic wines from Northern Italy but also my personal favorites from Campania (Falanghina, Fiano, Aglianico) are available. If you have a problem choosing don't worry you're not the only one that is why there is a tasting menu available and when they choose the dishes you won't be disappointed but keep an open mind. Service can be a little slower but this food doesn't need a rush. It is to be savored and not rushed. Can't wait to go back. read more

Excellent dinner at the end of a fun day. Started with a Momento Bella (kettle one, elderflower liqueur, pomegranate liqueur and muddled cucumber). To wet the pallet, chewy focaccia. Yum. The appetizer was a polenta tart with pear ginger chutney, Gorgonzola crouton and Parmesan foam. Awesome. For the main course, I had the tagliatelle with Parmesan tutela cheese sauce, with short rib and short rib sauce. And my dining companion had the Pappardelle with a veal rugu. Both excellent. For desert, an almond crust cannoli with jellied jewels. So good. Nice presentation on the dishes. Excellent service and very attentive. My only comment is that my main course could have been a little hotter. But I would still rate my meal 5/5! read more

My wife and I had plans to stay at a local Airbnb and new one of our nights out. Was going to be back at Momento based on the fabulous review that I had provided three years earlier. However, I guess Covid really has impacted the restaurant industry, not just the noticeable ways like lack of staff, inability to get certain ingredients, menu reductions and higher prices. In the case of Momento, yes all the above may have been true, and could still possibly be true, but what really blew us out of the water was the exorbitant prices, and frankly an issue that we ran into you with an order of seafood which I'll cover in a second but let me at least say if it wasn't for the chefs daughter, this review would be a one star so I applied his daughter and a colleague for turning around as what I had turned and embarrassing customer experience moment, and that goes beyond the fact that our assigned server Lorraine had become MIA, basically ignoring us after serving our food. What start off the beginning we arrive with huge smiles in dissipation of another great experience. We were shown to a lovely table. Window side service came over to start describing some of the specials. We are aligned on a wine by the glass option. However, while deciding on menu items and looking at current job reviews, we were noticing a trend which caught us off guard which was I'm gonna call it exorbitant prices and not just because I used to live in New York and I'm used to that, but certainly not in Stroudsburg and certainly not outside a huge city and maybe things have changed since we were there last and this is the new business model for the chef and his team and that's their choice. Unfortunately as a customer, that's not my choice , there is a limit to what even when I'm willing to pay for a great meal. In the case of our entrées, my wife ordered the seafood fra diavolo with pasta, fresh fettuccine. And for me chicken masala with no pasta, but with a side of mixed vegetables.. Plating presentations were beautiful, but as my wife was digging into her meal, what was very odd, was at the mussel shells only of which they were three or empty, and she went digging in the sauce and found no muscles. The Kalamata pieces were extremely small like one prong with a fork needed to lift it And we felt for the price of $33 for the dish +4 dollars for the fresh fettuccine. At least we should be getting a plate with seafood. No I post it as an embarrassing customer moment in speaking with one of the staff and luckily for us it happened to be a chefs daughter, and she jumped on it immediately when we showed her what we were experiencing, and even another colleague kept checking in with us saying that it's being prepared. Now please be patient which we wore into our surprise. A beautiful portion of mussels, steamed garlic sauce was brought up and delivered. Not that we were asking for that size if you will, but that was a great way to turn around a rather strange experience and quite honestly that should've been the type of muscles that were in the dish in the first place. Not sure why it wasn't. Not sure if restaurants are cutting back on ingredients for Jack in price is not a good mix for a customer, especially someone like myself who writes on yelp often. Ask for my dish the chicken masala it was chicken was very tender. It was tenderized in the Marcel sauce was made perfect. As for my side it went to being sautéed spinach, which was not the correct vegetable. It was supposed to be heirloom mixed vegetables. Nonetheless, I enjoy the spinach, but still server put in the wrong item. As for our server Lorraine, she's not inexperienced, she's not new to the industry. She clearly is someone who has served and done this as a career but the way she handled the evening is far from what you would expect from a seasoned server and especially someone at this level of restaurant . Ask for the Yelp reviews that we had seen from some who made the comparison to New York City prices, etc. I did notice a very interesting pivotal response by the chef owner and that was to thank those people for comparing Memetos to New York City restaurants, mind you, while that was strategic on his part, sitting here on N. 9th St., in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania is a far distance from New York City . An additional note to self chef and owner, please update your Yelp statistics by adding two more dollar signs there are others in the area who show three yet they're the prices are lower than yours. Plus, will it be known as others have pointed out as well, and what we had seen on the menu, a lot of the core Italian dishes of the past clearly have been removed, making it harder for some to find comfort food, especially when away from home. So while this was far from the perfect experience, and the issue about the dish was mitigated and we did end up at least enjoying the meal, but in a soured way, hence, we more than likely will not be returning. read more

I'm not sure what all the fantastic reviews are about? stopped here for dinner with my girlfriend hoping this would be a higher and restaurant in a region not known for having great food. I will leave the pros and cons below. Good: our server Kylie was fantastic, friendly, attentive and knew the menu very well and explained all dishes to us. The fried zucchini flower stuffed with ricotta cheese appetizer was fantastic. In a ginger honey sauce with sliced figs, it was very tasty. The homemade pasta they use for their posit dishes is very good. Bad: i'm not sure where the chef learned to make Bolognese sauce, but what we were served was definitely not Bolognese. With pieces of cubed steak (not ground beef, pork, or veal) and in a brown, beef-based gravy, this dish reminded me more of stroganoff than Bolognese. My girlfriend couldn't eat it, sent it back and had rigatoni and marinara sauce with meatballs instead. Her dish was distinctively average at best. Meatballs were all ground beef with no pork or veal on them, and we're on the tough side. We were both very disappointed with her entrées. I've been closed pictures of the "Bolognese" sauce. I have eaten in many fine Italian restaurants in New York City and Philadelphia, and never been served anything like this before. with prices on the high side, we definitely will not be back. read more

The only thing I would recommend is the pasta wheel. Everything else was below par. Even the Chef was rude to our party while serving the pasta. The chicken was awful. Looked and tasted boiled. I went to school for cooking...."eye appeal is buy appeal" 4 people at our table ordered the chicken and no one ate it....at an upcharge of $8. each, We were not happy. The homemade rolls made from their pizza dough with homemade butter, the delicious cheese plate appetizer, homemade short rib ravioli with pork belly, the veal walker to their delicious drinks like the lavender lemon mule and heat wave and the delicious homemade desserts, blueberry cannoli and chocolate hazelnut mousse... everything was just phenomenally delicious from beginning to end. My wife and I went to Momento to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted right away and were wished a happy anniversary-! Never had that happen before even when we wrote it was a special occasion on the open table app. Great start! Lorraine guided us through the menu since we were first timers. Our dining experience at Momento surpassed all expectations. It was a pleasure meeting Chef Nicola who stopped by the table a number of times describing the dishes and serving some of the sauces and accompaniments. The foie gras was a stand out, it was delicate and crispy on the outside, while creamy on the inside, and was delicious. The fried calamari had an interesting twist with a kick, served with fried jalapeños. The short rib and branzino were so good we had to finish it all. Finally we had the deconstructed tiramisu which was creamy and light. There was a great wine selection, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming.
