I took off two stars because it's not a very beginner friendly place. For my first class, they gave me a super quick rundown at the front desk (very chaotic behind the desk as well so I barely heard anything) and then pretty much left us to fend for ourselves during the class. We had no idea what to do in the class, just following others as best as we could, which ultimately wasted most of our first class.. The instructors are great though (I've only had the one) and if we could have kept up with instructions it would have been a great experience.

The two of us came here for our first class and it was a zoo. We checked in at the front desk and…read morewere told we were on standby, which was confusing since we were not on the waitlist or anything, and booked the class over 24 hours in advance. I told the employee that it was our first class and she said she knew, yet she did not give us any info about the class or equipment like she did for the people we were behind in line. We showed up 10 minutes early just to wait to be let in until 5-10 minutes AFTER the class had already started! No one gave us a rundown of what to expect or how to work the equipment. Pretty unprofessional. It was very hard to jump in as everyone was already working out and we had to maneuver in the very dark, crowded room. The workout benches and treadmills are extremely close together and they overfill the class to the point where it's difficult just to put your weights away. It's clear that they pack the class in as full as they possibly can just to make more money off each class. I've tried numerous other work out classes in OC, and this was the most packed I had ever seen a class. There was a line just to get out the door! Very uncomfortable and way too crammed. During the class, our instructor, Mackenzie, congratulated all of the first-timers and named a list of people, but somehow our names were missing from the list... very bizarre! Also, how come all the other first-timers were able to go in before the workout began, and me and my friend had to wait until 5 or 10 minutes after it had already started?? On top of all of that, the music was WAY TOO LOUD. You could barely hear what the instructor was saying at times. My ears were ringing after class. Barry's gave me Cycle Bar vibes which I did not like. After this odd and unpleasant experience, we will not be returning.

I'm sure it's not easy to keep it clean and updated on low membership rates. They have all the equipment you need for working out, but it's old. They also have a good variety of classes, though I wish there were more evening and weekend options. A couple of the teachers are outstanding (Denise, Laura, Norma). The dance classes are not very good. The locker room is clean and well maintained. The room for classes is really in need of a remodel. There is a big slope in the floor, and parts are peeling or cracked and need to be replaced. The equipment is often dusty and some things are just dirty. There is a lot of dust everywhere, and they don't wipe down or sweep between classes, or disinfect the equipment in the gym or the exercise room. The mats get used and put back as is. Recently in a yoga class, I inhaled a mound of dust from being down on the floor and it was pretty gross! There are fans that need to be hosed down and every time they go on a little waft of dust comes out. I hate to complain because I'm grateful for the good things this gym offers (location, price, staff & members are very nice - no "scene" and nonsense!). But they also need to refresh a little bit would go a long way.

I grew up always wanting to be like my physically fit Mom and one day many years ago, she introduced me to Lisa Raffay, owner and personal trainer at House of Fitness. This became a life changing experience on so many levels. Lisa is an amazing expert at personal training. I love that she sincerely wants to get to know not just you, but what exactly your needs and expectations are for her and her staff. In my case, I was dealing with knee injuries, inflammation in my shoulder, and she was able to get me out of pain. I always thought my discomfort was just a way of life! Her personal training staff are by far the most professional, friendly, and sincere I have ever been around. The energy in the gym is upbeat and everyone is like a family always smiling and making sure your needs are met. I promise you will not be disappointed...quite the contrary, you will get addicted!!

I needed an added challenge to my daily routine and I was pleasantly surprised to find that challenge at Graviti fitness. The location is fantastic right on PCH easy to find and the area is big enough for group training. The variety offered at Graviti Fitness was what impressed me the most. From crossfit, to yoga, to cycling and rope climbing and there's so much more. Every workout in itself is always challenging and diverse. I feel great and full of life when I train there!

I was pretty specific when I started about what I was looking for. I wanted to ease back into strength and mobility training and was clear that I only wanted to train once a week to start. Despite that, I was encouraged to schedule multiple sessions in the same week, which didn't really align with the expectations I had set from the beginning. There are also a few things about the gym itself that I wish I had known before signing up. There's no air conditioning, which made workouts pretty uncomfortable, and there are usually other people training in the space at the same time, so you're working around other clients during your session. Some of the cardio equipment could also use some attention -- the elliptical in particular didn't really work. Once I knew I wasn't going to continue, I asked Michael if he would refund my final unused session. He let me know that all sales are final. I asked if he'd consider even a partial refund since I wouldn't be using the session, but he declined. I've since started working with a trainer at neighboring A7, and it's been a much better fit for what I was looking for. Everyone is looking for something different in a trainer and gym, but I'd recommend checking out the space first, being really clear about what you want from training, and making sure the environment and approach are a good fit before purchasing a package.

It gave us insights we had never had before, and the personal trainer used that data to fully tailor our workouts and even help us build a realistic game plan for when we are back home, including guidance around nutrition. It truly felt personalized to us, not a one size fits all program. We worked with Zach, and he was incredible. He was personable, friendly, genuinely caring, motivating, and super knowledgeable. He made us feel comfortable right away and really took the time to help us meet our goals. Honestly, this was the best personal training experience I have ever had. Beyond just our sessions, the entire gym has such a welcoming, positive energy. Every trainer we interacted with was kind, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do, which says a lot about the culture here. My boyfriend, who's more experienced with weight lifting and strength training than I am, was also obsessed with the equipment they had here - saying it was some of the best equipment he's ever used at a gym (usually goes to lifetime). Overall, such an awesome experience. If we lived here, this would absolutely be our go to gym.

The pool is useless if you are serious swimmer. Frequently 90°, I'm overheating after 300 yards. This pool is for geriatrics and kids. Also for their pool parties but not for real swimmers. Workout area is great, lots of racks. I hate the lighting though. The ceiling is covered in outdoor parking lights. I don't think it bothers anyone else but it's offensive to me. I wish there were designated stretching areas but you can stretch in front of your rack if that's where you are working out otherwise you just have to find a space. The locker room is bad, too crowded. Not enough lockers. Not enough toilets. The sauna - horrible. It only holds 8 people at a time, the steam room is even worse 5, if that. The showers are decent, plenty of room to do what you need to do. I've only done cycle classes, they are basically HITT workouts high RPM, High heart rate, but only 45 minutes.
