So I came here after a visit at stitch by stitch, comparing some numbers and what not and how I feel about this place would have been the same even if I didn't visit the previous place. The oh so kind owners of the previous place suggested we go here and she must have known that this place wasn't much at all welcoming and that we would come back to her eventually. She was not worried at all. Any who, before walking in theres a sign stating if you are any kind of way shape or form sick do not walk into their store, drop a note I believe. Check out the pictures, it's posted. So that threw me left field. Walk in, the carpet is very much old dirty and ran down with patches missing. The walls have holes in them. The ceiling is missing spaces of rectangles. He has one of each product they sell to view which is good. Back stock is lined up behind the register. Overall the place was not invested into looking nice at ALL. The guy who helped us was helpful and stated there is a 2 week turn around but they charge for colors and if buying in bulk there is all kind of small charges if you want them diff colors and what not. Very close in price with the DB on base but their beanies are cheaper. Would I come back? Yes for the beanies but any business that tells you to stay out if sick, I wonder what else I haven't seen that is rude and not looking to witness either.

I took my 4 items to this company to have names printed on them August 28, 2019. I was sent an email to approve the design on August 30th, which I approved the design the same day the email was sent. After I approved the design the email listed a pick up date of September 13th. I presented 1 week after the pick up date and the items had not been started on. I was told he would check on the status of my order and contact me the next day. I was told I had time since Christmas is in December. It was not his place to make that statement to me. He had no ideal what my plan was for these items. He never contacted me via phone or email. I stopped by the store each week for four weeks to be given an excuse/lie each time of why the items was not completed. I ended up picking up my items today (10/15/2019) and they still had not been worked on. The person at the Lansing location never apologized for not making an effort to start/complete my project after over a month of having my 4 items. I will not refer this company to anyone. Shame on Brown Bear Printing. SHAME, SHAME on your business practices.

This business sells items that the inmates of the United States Disciplinary Barracks make in their vocational shops. From sheet metal to graphic design to embroidery to laser engraved wood - I have seen everything from custom grills to embroidered shirts for local businesses. Extremely decent quality especially for the price. The only downside that since it is a prison is that it can take 30 days from the minute you pay to the time you receive the merchandise; and probably longer if the shops close due to a fight or something of that nature. This is definitely a hidden 'secret' in Fort Leavenworth as many people who can purchase these items probably don't even know the store exists. If you have a chance, I would at least check it out - as the inmates are only probably limited by your imagination.
