The usual customers for this type of business are obviously in need of food and deserve some peace of mind that they will get their food which they have already paid for. I am disabled and beyond appreciative of free/reduced cost prepared foods. The quality is below that, which I would spend any out of pocket money on but I'm not picky when something is offered. That being said they do an intake and confirm food allergies yet still sent me food that I had an allergic reaction to. I reached out 4 different times adjusting and reiterating my allergies to be put in a situation where I had allergic reactions on multiple accounts due to negligence and oversight. No one has actually thoroughly followed up with me, the customer service received regarding this was dismissive and almost blaming of me. My care providers hear these meals knowing they are within my dietary guidelines and should be safe to serve elderly and disabled patients. I was told that because my allergy isn't a "main" (nuts & shellfish) allergy it is not something they can filter. They ask me if I'm allergic to nuts or shellfish every time and say if that is not my allergy they can't help me. They have taken no responsibility for the fact that when I called in and placed my order (the only way you can there is no online portal or platform to select or change orders you can only call in, which is functions from the stone ages) I was assured and even reiterated my allergies spend an hour placing my order so the rep could verify my choices were free of Celery (my allergy) and yet meals still caused me to have an allergic reaction and I found out later had celery in them. There has been no concern for my well being or safety, no replacement or anything to make right these errors. I explained that I was forced to use an epi pen and thrown into a seizure due to this oversight. Nothing!!! This is DANGEROUS and needs to be adequately addressed and policies and systems need updating. They don't always come the same day or time and they just dump at your door, never ring the doorbell even after I have called and requested that they do so. Tried this home delivery service due to my spinal injury as I'm not really able to cook for myself currently. I also liked that they offered "diabetic friendly" meals. After receiving my first shipment I noticed how many preservatives and chemicals these meals contained as well as very high sugar content. The meals I received have all been either rice based or pasta based and almost all are 60+ carbs and under 450 calories. Some even less than 350! With the size of these small meals and the amount simple carbs and starchy foods they've been shooting my blood sugars very high. My breakfast this morning alone had 27g of sugar and only 300-ish calories. These are clearly not "diabetic friendly" meals. One breakfast option was pancakes that I have sitting in my fridge. Seems like a strange option for a diabetic. The quality of the food isn't that great either. It's like cheap frozen dinner quality. While it's great that insurance would cover 4 weeks of these meals I'm going to have to look elsewhere for healthier and better quality meals. I've also been dealing with stomach aches after almost every meal. My dietician and doctor agree that these are not well rounded meals nutrition-wise and don't contain enough calories. read more

Was referred to Moms Meals for pureed food as my father in law was coming home from the hospital and can not chew solid food. First delivery arrived 1 day late. No big deal... Placed our 2nd order to be delivered on 10/28, package never received and no tracking information... Called customer service and was told they would send a replacement box out Fed Ex Overnight this time... Package was to arrive on 11/2, that package never was received and tracking information only shows the label was created! Fast forward to yesterday morning 11/4, called and explained I never got our box and was told oh no, we will send you out another replacement box "free of charge" (mind you I paid back on 10/28 for my box)... your box will be delivered via Fed Ex Overnight and scheduled to arrive on 11/5. Well I just logged in to track my package and it shows only the label was created yesterday and nothing more! I'm so disappointed as my FIL likes the meals because they're not salty... My mom got 14 meals free as part of her insurance plan after a hospitalization. For free, fine. But if we had paid the 7.99-9.99 per meal that they normally cost, I would have been very disappointed. Many of the "sides" are soupy sugary fruit like cooked apples and cranberry etc. Lots of pudding and jello cups. High protein meals basically just add some peanut butter, string cheese or a pack of about 9-10 almonds. The meat in all of the meals we got was a joke except maybe the breakfast items that had identifiable diced ham or a link turkey sausage or a sausage patty on the sandwich. She loves any kind of stir fry but would not eat either of their 2 choices. The "pork" stir fry was mainly rice with a few diced veggies and about a teaspoon of sauce with 5-6 small (smaller than a marble) sausage crumbles. The beef stew had no identifiable "beef" but was more like ground beef cooked in to the thick broth. I put it into a soup cup to heat and it was literally a 1/3 cup portion (measured). As part of her 14 meal she also got 2 very, very small juice boxes of orange juice. I mixed and matched and opened several to make her a meal she would like. In a nutshell, some taste ok, but quality of ingredients (especially the proteins) are poor. It is sad we do not have better options for seniors. If you are getting these free as part of an insurance plan- go for it. You can supplement with your own actual quality protein. If paying, I would look elsewhere. My wife's insurance provided her with 28 meals after her week long +/- hospital stay. The first few days she ate the meals, complaining each day that they tasted terrible, by the time we figured out that you could actually specify which meals to order for the 2nd box (came in 2 boxes of 14) it was too late to place a custom order and received the same stuff as in the first order..... by then she had stopped eating them and I had started trying to feed them to the dog who would not eat them either...... I've read all these stupid reviews of how bad this food is, but let me tell you, my parents and I have been trying them and they really are pretty good! They came packaged very well, the order was correct, the only thing we didn't get was the 3 little margarine cups. Don't be deceived by the picture on the front of the menu with a nice big piece of chicken and two vegetables: the reality is a small chicken patty with only one vegetable included. The packaging only has two compartments, so there isn't any space for a third item. "Chicken with creamy mushroom gravy" is really made of "chicken breast, water, vegetable protein product, sodium phosphate, flavoring, salt." So that is not the same as a piece of chicken, and definitely no resemblance to the picture. That meal was supposed to come with grape juice--no grape juice, no beverages as all in the shipment. It was supposed to be chicken, vegetable, and potato. No potato. Barbecued chicken is basted with barbecue sauce and grilled. What they sent was another chicken patty, cooked via microwave or whatever process (no grill marks) with a dab of barbecue sauce on top. Flip it over: no barbecue sauce on the bottom, therefore proving the sauce was added before sealing the packaging, but not in cooking. The beef goulash over pasta is really rotini in meat sauce--no beef chunks at all. SO that is total false advertising. Beef goulash is beef chunks, usually chuck, over egg noodles. Goulash is an Austrian-Hungarian dish, Rotini with meat sauce is an Italian pasta dish. BUT the package does claim to be goulash over pasta. I defy anyone at Mom's Meals to produce a cookbook that says, "to make goulash boil some rotini and spoon on a little meat sauce." The meatloaf and the salisbury steak seam to be the same thing, ("beef patty of 'beef, textured protein' " The meatloaf has a squirt of ketchup, the salisbury steak has some brown gravy, both very dried out. The "pepper steak with gravy over penne pasta and spiced fruit crisp" is not a steak, it is just another beef patty (literally labelled "salisbury steak" on the ingredients), no peppers, some gravy with rice, not pasta. There was no spiced fruit crisp, but the compartment was about 1/5 filled with what I think were cranberries in a very sweet sugary syrup. The website (https://www.momsmeals.com/our-food/) says "safekeeping of meals in a refrigerator for 14 days from the date of delivery." The delivery was November 11, 2021. Wow! What a bunch of whiners on Yelp. Pandemic brain maybe? Or is it only the complainers that are responding? I've had a very positive experience with Moms Meals. At a stressful time in my life they've been a godsend. I'm grateful that someone has shopped, cooked, packaged and delivered these meals to my home. A nice variety with a menu that allows you to pick and choose what you like. And by the way, the staff I've spoken to have been polite, upbeat, and take the time to make sure you get just what you want. so maybe not every ingredient is organic, whole food that you might cook yourself. But people in need of this service might otherwise open a can of soup or a frozen dinner. Those have a ton of ingrediants that we've all grown up on. Still kickin'! This should be a crime! These are bold-faced marketing lies that have meaningful impact on people's health. First two orders went to two different apartments because they can't seem to get my apartment number entered correctly. I looked at the labels and it was a variety of every different category because it was my first delivery it was a variety of different samples of each category! They call this nutritious meals before I even got the order delivered well how can they be nutritious meals when each and every one of those has HIGH saturated fat, HIGH cholesterol count on the label, HIGH sodium, HIGH sugar content, HIGH carbohydrate, so how can these be nutritious meals and it's for one package and the portions are very small! This is absolutely the worst prepared meals you will order. This company was recommended after my elderly mom's hospital stay. She was to have a low fat, low sodium diet. Despite the fact that it was specified, they mailed a box of cheese burgers and everything sent had to be thrown away because it was contrary to my mom's diet and request. When I called to speak with a supervisor, I was told there was non available that I would get a phone call from one. That never happened. It was not until I received a phone call from them to verify next delivery, that I asked about the supervisor. When I spoke with the supervisor, she was sarcastic, rude and not helpful at all. I requested to cancel and they did not. I had to contact my mom's social worker and request cancellation through her. After all that, they still called me again for next delivery. When I said it should have been cancelled, they claimed they did not have a cancellation and that the box of food was going to be delivered. So, as you can see, their communication is poor or there is no communication. To have to deal with a sick elderly parent who was in two hospitals for 12 days and then put up with such rude and unprofessional people is unacceptable. My grandmother was disgusted. I tried it and I fell to my knees in regret for what I have put her through. I was prepared to have a great meal with my grandma, I was disappointed in the overall experience. My first impression is that the packaging is outrageous in this day of trying to take care of the environment. I checked the company's website and they admit it is not environmentally friendly. The website also says that they're easy to open even for those with arthritis. it is impossible to open these without using a knife. I received two month's orders and thought the food was ok. Some of the meals were very good, most average or worse. The packaging is awful - they put big bags of gooey stuff that's supposed to keep the food cold, but my packages were never cold. Something in the packaging has a chemical smell as well. There's styrofoam in the box, which is awful for the environment, and lots of cardboard. My third order was scheduled before Thanksgiving, but didn't arrive until the eve of, at almost five o' clock. I had already left for the holiday and when I got back two days later, of course, it was all ruined. Customer service was defensive and kurt. No "We're sorry" or any niceties. Just you should've been there when we delivered - sometimes we're there at 7 or 8. We went around for a few minutes with her reiterating her stance, to which I said, I won't be using your service anymore. The end. I guess they're actively looking to lose customers. read more

Mom's Meals has been a tremendous help to my dad and our whole family. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and after coming out of the hospital, preparing low sodium and low fat meals for him was not easy. Mom's Meals enabled us to give him nutritious food that is palatable given the stringent parameters of his diet. I cannot express in words how much I appreciate this meal delivery service as it gives both patient and caregivers the comfort and convenience especially during stressful and challenging times. Mom's Meals are horrible product. The taste is bland at best. And their menu doesn't vary or change hardly at all. And when they advertise that they have "99%" customer satisfaction their flat out lying. And customer service is an absolute joke. DON'T USE Moms Meals!!! read more
