Very few choices for people that don't eat red meat or pork. allowing to choose from different menus would break the monotony of only four food choices. I received two month's orders and thought the food was ok. Some of the meals were very good, most average or worse. The packaging is awful - they put big bags of gooey stuff that's supposed to keep the food cold, but my packages were never cold. Something in the packaging has a chemical smell as well. There's styrofoam in the box, which is awful for the environment, and lots of cardboard. My third order was scheduled before Thanksgiving, but didn't arrive until the eve of, at almost five o' clock. I had already left for the holiday and when I got back two days later, of course, it was all ruined. Customer service was defensive and kurt. No "We're sorry" or any niceties. Just you should've been there when we delivered - sometimes we're there at 7 or 8. Mom's Meals has been a tremendous help to my dad and our whole family. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and after coming out of the hospital, preparing low sodium and low fat meals for him was not easy. Food not that good it looks like cat poo and doesn't even come close what they show in the website. Even my mother won't eat it. The biggest problem is their delivery service, there is no tracking provided and if the shipment doesn't arrived then you're really screwed. Nobody at Mom's Meals can tell you when where is your delivery and they tell you to wait and wait for something that might or might not arrive. I work as a nurse and have as part of members benefits offered mom meals. Majority of my members have been very happy and says moms puts meals on wheels to shame. I started having health issues with my age and needing to be on a low salt diet. Been on the meals over a month and have lost 10 pounds. The meals have higher fiber that helps to decrease the hunger, low in salt and not high in calories. The private pay is little confusing so that I wish was a little better. Ive been receiving moms meals since December 2023. Every single month there is an issue with food quality . Consistently every month the 14 oranges are garbage, either being so tough that they can't be pealed because they are so dehydrated or for the last 3 months they are delivered with mold and rotting!! Then of course there's the constant issue of the meal seals being broken and food slopped all over everything in the box! So at the end of day if you want to pay for something that you are going to immediately throw away, I would steer clear of this company that could care less about the quality of meal. A day late had nothing I had ordered with the woman I spent 20 minutes to with.i was getting all pasta meals with the first order so I ordered everything without pasta but one choice.i just received all chicken and pasta Alfredo. No other dinner meals. I'm also not a breakfast person but a couple sounded good so I ordered a couple well the other meals from the 8 pasta and chicken Alfredo were cowboy breakfast and oatmeal breakfast. That was it. Oh. The worst customer service ever I was in a coma for 2 weeks and my insurance shows mom's meals they spoke with the supervisor that was their representative I called mom's meals and because they fit me into a category I was only able to get two meals and when they were late on my meal I asked to switch to Salisbury steak instead of teriyaki vegetable and they wouldn't do it they didn't get the address right it was just a horrible experience instead of seeing what I could eat they put me in categories of what I couldn't eat which limited me to Salisbury steak and a vegetable meal teriyaki stir fry so I literally got 4 weeks of meal of teriyaki stir fry and nothing else When they made their mistake I asked if they could switch it to Salisbury steak at least I could you know switch them up they said no they don't do that they were not willing to budge an inch I would never recommend this company it's horrible read more

Moms meal nutrition facts are misleading and inaccurate. I order my mother the diabetic friendly breakfast and lunch (10) of them 5 each. There was more sugar content in 5 of the meals than in a fast food meal. I called to inquire, of course they gave me the hold on let me check with our Nutrition, she said they go by carbs. However, a diabetic sugar intake matters the most. They have a meal with white rice, for a diabetic. Smh. Someone needs to speak with doctors to see if these meals are actually healthy for the people who are ordering. My mother at the meatballs and wheat pasta lastnight, her sugar spiked 97 points. As our health declines the boxes are getting heavier due to ice packs. unload at the door or outside. Food is not good. We have gotten sick off some of the dinners. Brother tries to eat it then asks me to try it to see if it is just him. Nope got sick as a dog. This is the fourth time and not sure what to do. Veggies are either too spicey or undercooked. I chose the heart healthy meal plan and was a bit confused when they offered separately a heart healthy or a low sodium meal plan. The heart healthy meals I received were so high in cholesterol and sodium that my blood pressure was extremely elevated and I feared having another stroke. I went and got the label from my breakfast tray and saw that there was 260 mg of cholesterol and 570 mg of sodium. If you eat three meals each day that exceeds The cholesterol intake and sodium intake of a heart healthy person! They need a nutritionist to inform them that low sodium and low cholesterol are needed together to maintain a heart healthy diet! I called the company as I had checked of the breakfasts and dinners and noticed all of the breakfasts exceeded the cholesterol limit of what my cardiologist had suggested as cholesterol intake of no more than 200 mg and under 1000 mg of sodium per day. Just one meal exceeds these limits and unfortunately I did not get an option to change the diet preference to meet my specific medical needs! They offered me the same " heart healthy" box but would choose the meals lower in cholesterol but " unfortunately you will still have the high sodium content, so do you want us to send you that, because that's the only option my supervisor is offering, you cannot change meal plans!" I obviously declined the offer. That is no way to run a so called medically nutritious food corporation! Any dietician, or nutritionist would know these are not heart healthy or even nutritious meals! Shame on them! I feel bad for the elderly who either cannot read the labels on these meals due to poor vision or even cognitive limitations that they aren't paying attention to what they consume. I was just out of the rehab hospital after hip replacement surgery when I got a call from Mom's Meals, saying they had shipped me 14 meals (28 are covered by my insurance). I told them I was too weak and could not deal with 14 frozen meals at that time, but the lady said it was too late, they have already been shipped. I asked her if the driver could at least bring them inside the house, and she said she didn't know about that. The next day, an ENORMOUS cardboard box arrived. the driver, thank God, put it on the countertop in my kitchen. Had to use a cutting knife to get it open. Inside there were styrofoam trays and ice packs, and a huge number of black containers. I had to 1. clean out my freezer to make room. 2.Go through the meals. Six of them sounded really awful, for instance the pork fried rice. I coulnd't give that six away, so I I thawed them out then put them down the garbage disposal. 3. Drag the huge box out the front door so that SOMEONE...definitely not me, perhaps one of the neighbors...could cut it down to be recylced. Couldn't figure out what to do with the ice packs. So, when I tried one of meals, right away I realized that they were just awful, much worse than hospital food. Fake meat and always too little meat, undercooked frozen peas and carrots, rubbery eggs, unseasoned and basically, unappealing. Admittadly I am a great cook, but these were just, well, VERY BAD. So the nightmare went on when I called them to cancel the next huge box of meals. The lady on the phone really gave me a hard time, said I had "contracted" for 28 meals, and that I could not cancel because the next 14 meals were already on their way. So I said, listen, if anybody delivers more of those meals here, they are going to sit outside in the driveway and rot in the box. Forget what the neighbors were going to think. (Maybe) I spoke to one of the ladies on the phone, I asked if they made vegan means do to I can't have any dairy, eggs or meat products, the person who was a helped plan you meals insured me Vegetarian and vegan is pretty much the same thing well it's really not. I know I'm very blessed to have the opportunity to use this program and not have to pay for it ,,, there really is not anything I can eat and not get ill. I've been meaning to leave a positive word about this company for a couple months now. Our experience was through a medical insurance benefit for a couple weeks of meals following a hospital stay. The meals were simple in presentation and preparation, which was the main point for the given situation. For "stay-fresh-in-fridge" type meals that could easily be heated and served, the ingredients looked fresh and healthy and menus seemed colorfully balanced. And... well... he really seemed to like the food! ... (only the container and fork were left! I stayed out of the way to avoid losing a finger!) From my perspective, not having actually tried the food, the presentation was appealing and the food looked decent. It was a helpful and much appreciated benefit to have. I was thankful. The whole thing was very organized, the plan clearly laid out, temperatures listed, heating instructions, ingredients, calories, etc. listed for each one, and the variety of foods/meals that they sent was quite extensive. They even included a couple specifically vegetarian entrees. In addition to presentation and variety, I could tell the packaging and delivery of their product was a priority. Things were wrapped neatly and carefully boxed with big ice packs for a fresh delivery. Well, maybe not so much the one box, which honestly seemed like a complete fluke, but a couple of the meals had leaked on the others inside the box, where it looked like the ice block tipped/slid into and punctured the packaging. This was what actually prompted me to write this review in the first place. Mom's Meals handled the complaint (let's call it a grumpy old man rant!) with such professionalism and grace. The representative was outstanding, literally could not have handled the situation any better! She was polite and apologetic for this type of delivery and had an entire replacement order sent next day. Redirected what could've been a negative experience into a positive one! I received 14 moms meals from my Medicare insurance due to being released from the hospital. The meals were okay, I gave three stars because, hey they free. They called me and asked for my preferences, any allergies and so forth, I wish that I had said low calorie, hindsight. Almost all of the meals came with an apple type crisp, very sweet. The meals were very calorie dense with a concentration of simple carbohydrates. The directions were clear and very easy to follow and the entree was tasty. The food is ok, some of it average, some of it pretty tasty. The biggest complaints I have are the meatloaf and pasta came with barely a teaspoon of sauce...blech The apple oatmeal and scrambled eggs....the eggs were as expected but the oatmeal was gross looking. It was blended with a plop of what looked like apple pie filling on top. At first glance, it looked nothing like oatmeal more like a scoop of refried beans, I did force myself to taste it and after I doctored it up a bit, it wasn't awful but it was a stretch to even taste it based on the appearance. read more

We had to canceled the service. The main two reasons: 1. Food is barely palatable. Even when you can add spices and you follow the preparation instructions exactly, the meal is overcooked or undercooked. 2. Customer service: Communication within the company is very poor. Moms meal was responsible for food delivery through United healthcare but kept putting me on hold for '2-5 days'

My social worker approved me for these meals and told me I could get a vegetarian menu. The first order was a regular menu. Apparently this is sent out to everyone as a first order, regardless of your diet. There were only 2 vegetarian items and the rest I threw away. The mac and cheese was pretty bad and a very small portion. It was literally a half a cup of macaroni with a slice of cheese thrown on top of it. I found out there are only 3 vegetarian meals offered on the regular diet. A full vegetarian menu is only offered to private pay clients. They offer diabetic, low sodium, renal, and vegetarian diets. Except that is kind of a lie. They have 1 basic menu and simply point out things on the menu that "might" work for the other diets. This being the case, there are only a few menu items available to people who need special diets. Picking through the regular diet menu doesn't give you much of a meal selection. The people I talked to in customer service were nice but I got so many different answers to the same questions. The customer service people didn't really seem to know how the system actually works. It took me 4 different calls to get the information I related in this review. That was 3 calls too many. So my state paid for a box of meals I couldn't eat. I canceled the service and feel the taxpayer money really went to waste. I feel they misrepresent their services. I suppose if you are able to eat a regular diet things might be easier for you but after the mac and cheese ordeal I can't see how anyone would find them tasty. read more

Vegetables have no seasoning & undercooked. I have it in the freezer & hope I can find someone who needs it. A week after I got mine, a friend had his delivered & felt the same way.
