As a first timer getting threading done, Mona made such an incredible first impression. I've been hesitant to get threading done on my brows due to many horror stories/reviews I've come across online. I found Mona's Threading just on a general Yelp search. The countless 5-star reviews convinced me to reach out. The appointment process was a breeze. I filled out a form online at night, and received a text message the following morning from her. She confirmed my availabilities, and was able to accommodate me for a same day appointment. She was working from home that day, so I went directly to her home. She had a station set up right at the entrance and got to work. She was also able to squeeze my husband in as well! Overall, Mona is very thorough and knows what she is doing. I have been living in San Bruno for the past 2.5 years. I was looking for the best place to get threading done, as my favorite place to go to was located in the East Bay, where I'm originally from, so it's a little distant from here. Desperately needed a facial after a long travel during the holiday season and I found Mona on Yelp. Even though she is closed on Sunday she accommodate me because she had no appointments available on Saturday which i greatly appreciated. I went for the Brazilian and facial and both were terrific. Mona didn't do a cookie cutter standard facial but took time to examine my skin and do a custom routine and she suggested some great products (she doesn't sell any products so no pressure to buy any of them ). I trusted her advice so much i ordered the face cream she recommended from sephora as soon as i got home. Her attitude and space were very calming and her waxing was super efficient. I scheduled an appointment via text and used the "1 free eyebrow" check in offer to try her out. Based on the previous reviews, everything is true! Mona is so down-to-earth, professional, and quick. I have never threaded my eyebrows before and I'm so happy she introduced me to it. I was afraid it was going to hurt, but all it felt was a little ticklish! She explained how much better threading is compared to waxing because there's more control & precision. She told me she's going to let my eyebrows grow a little, considering how much hair my precious eyebrow place took off through waxing. So I normally go down to Sumi Beauty in Mountain View to get my brows done, but today didn't feel like making the trek. After researching eyebrow options in my area, I went with Mona. Mona was quick and did not pinch my skin as some other threading places. She did a nice job cleaning up my brows and was really adamant about how she thought they should be shaped. (I'll upload a before and after.) I would have given her 5 stars, were it not for what happened at the end of the appointment. When she was done threading, she began to make motions to apply some stuff in a bottle to my skin. I asked her not to, citing really sensitive skin that breaks out easily. She put it on my face anyway, saying that she gets whatever it was from India and it doesn't cause breakouts like American stuff does. (Of note: whatever it was smelled exactly like nail polish remover.) She then proceeded to tell me that my skin was sensitive because I didn't wash it correctly (something she could not possibly know, as I was a new client) and started going into how I should only use cool water to wash (I do) and a bunch of other stuff. Everything she said about why my skin is sensitive was incorrect: it's sensitive because of medication I use that can have poor interactions with other products. I was really put off by that portion of the experience. Up until that point, I was planning on switching to Skin Mantra as my regular threading location. For now I will remain loyal to Sumi Beauty and go to Skin Mantra for emergencies. read more
