I just moved back west for a new job and realized I had nothing suitable for my new position, let alone a 'grown up' wardrobe appropriate for a four season weather. Tired of buying on impulse at your local fast fashion place and tossing out bags of clothes, I contacted Mona for an autumn/winter wardrobe. Let me just say first that all the reviews on here are 100% true. Mona is ridiculously good at her job, a pleasure to work with, and not judgmental at all. I am 39, just had my third child, and am busy. I knew my clothes didn't really work for me but I didn't know how to solve my problem. At each showroom the Designer or a representative told us about the collection and them and we were able to shop from samples with prices which were considerably less than WHOLESALE! She gives style information and is very personable and knowledgeable with regard to anything in the fashion industry. This is a tour for any-one who is interested in "behind the scenes" in the garment industry and also those who are interested in saving a little money! So this tour was cool, different, and not like any other. Mona is supposed to take you to 6 showrooms, but we only went to 5 because we didn't have time for the last one. These showrooms were cool because they ranged from older women business casual, to cashmeres, to psychedelic 70's, to older women summer dresses, and then to scarves galore. I would say the tour is not for younger crowds unless you dress like your in your late 30's/early 40's because that is the type of clothes they all pretty much had. The tour started with meeting Mona in a lobby of an office building. As we waited for the rest of the group to arrive, we got to know one another. She is friendly and interested in our backgrounds to try to figure out our style in fashion. As we arrived at the first showroom, a guy walked in and she asked if we would mind taking photos for her website (www.MonaSharaf.com). 3/6 of us said no because two girls are models and by contract they can't and I am camera shy/really hate pictures. So as we leave the first showroom, Mona asks us to hold empty shopping bags so the photographer can take pictures from behind of us walking down the street to make it seem like we all bought items.. Next couple showrooms, the photographer is chasing down my friend and I after we clearly told him we do not want to be photographed. Photographer is a nice guy, but too persistent.. No means no.. Anyways, as were talking to the photographer, we learn that he is working for Mona for 2 hours on his own time. Is it me, but wouldn't you want a little incentive for taking 2 hours of your personal time on a Friday to take pictures? Unless free marketing equals to free advertising, then I understand. As were in the middle of the tour, one model leaves the tour group. During the middle of the tour, another girl meets us in a showroom (who knows if she was even part of the group). At the last showroom, another girl left early.. During the tour, Mona would try to show my friend and I some items to try to get us to buy something, but we thought every item was not our style at all. Towards the end, it felt as if Mona was distant and mad we did not end up liking anything or buying anything because her mood completely changed and she kept calling us "young shoppers." To conclude, in general, I would say this tour is for someone who is willing to spend $400 on a suit jacket and for people who have older style. If your into that, then enjoy the tour! I hired Mona for a shopping day and could not be happier. I've struggled with shopping frustration my entire life. I'm petite and a hard fit. I got on a call with Mona and she automatically put me at ease. She totally understood how difficult it was for me to find pieces that fit me right. She was patient, bright and seemed to really know what she was talking about. I walked into a fitting room of pre-selected items for me and was so surprised at how much she found for me. She found pieces I would have never picked out for myself but really loved. She also informed me of what to wear the pieces with, where to wear them to and what they would go with in my existing wardrobe. It was also really fun! If you are intelligent, over size 14, and dislike condescending mannerisms and remarks, this trip is NOT for you. The shopping with Mona began with a phone call that left me concerned about the upcoming shopping adventure. I called to verify some aspects of the trip and to let Mona know a bit about the crew that was coming. There were 4 shoppers, 3 of the shoppers were size 14 and up. I alerted Mona as well to what price point we would like to stay around to maximize our spending and for what occasion we were out together. When we met Mona, it seemed as though she did not hear/listen to anything I stated prior. She focused on the shopper that was about a size 4. She constantly shared that we would not be able to find any clothing in our size unless we were shopping for someone else. Mona continued to speak to us as though we had poor body image and had no idea what to like. She continued to pick up clothes that better fit an elderly woman on a holiday cruise. Mona's presentation was offensive, as she began to explain how the garment district began by making clothes for slaves, which is true, but should have been avoided or more tastefully presented to four African American women. The tour started in a small boutique that didn't suit any of us and the price point was double of where we asked, The 2nd and 3rd shops were nice but the 3rd shop started at triple above what we asked. Mona's saving grace was the second stop which had an awesome salesman that took care of me and my plus size crew. We stopped the tour in the middle simply because we were unable to take any more of Mona's manner, or her pushiness to purchase items that we did not like or want. read more
