The restaurant is very good and spacious. We had a reservation for a large party so we did have to wait a bit to get sat. The French 75 was so good - I love when they put it in a flute, and the cherry was a fun addition. The lettuce cups and hummus appetizers were AMAZING. You have to get them. They were just so good. The definitely don't give you enough pita for the amount of hummus though, so we ordered extra. I got a noodle dish - a damn good bowl of noodles. Would not recommend. I'm a huge fan of Thai noodles and was expecting something along those lines (even though the noodles are Singapore inspired) - this was not the case. They fell flat for me and didn't have much flavor. Everything else was truly incredible, though. The burgers were amazing and had tons of flavor. The lobster roll was huge and juicy. For dessert we got the cheesecake and the crème brûlée. Both were very tasty. The cheesecake was on the soft side - if you like it soft you will LOVE theirs! Our server seemed like she wasn't having a great time, but you never know what else is going on + we were a very large party. I'm excited to return and try new dishes. Our first time at Monarch and it was impressive. It lived up to the hype on the reviews--great vibe, exceptional service, and solid food quality. Faur warning--better to reserve on a weekend! We arrived right at 5, sat in the bar area, and watched the place get packed with a decent weight by 6. We started with shoshito peppers and carpaccio and both compare to anything we've had at great Chicago restaurants. The Romain salad and salmon followed and both were very good. Neither my wife or I are dessert eaters, but our server convinced us to try the caramel cheesecake and the pudding. Holy smokes!!!! Cheesecake was good, but the pudding was go into a dark corner so no one can watch you luck the bowl good. Prices are a little high for the QCA, but worth every penny and more. It was a rough day and had a party of 12 for a 2pm reservation. They were able to accommodate and that's what they did. We were seated in the private dining room and it was a bit tight but great for the situation. Server was fantastic and everything came out quickly and correct. Can I suggest the grapefruit margarita and the sidecar in the drink menu. We had an array of items on the menu and everything was delicious. We had a fantastic evening at Monarch. We reserved a table and when we arrived were seated immediately. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was fun and efficient. I ordered the pepper burger. The menu looked outstanding, yet I love trying different burgers. I should have stayed longer to try to talk with the chef, but something about this burger was amazing. Yes, the beef was fantastic and the chef grilled it to a perfect medium rare, yet there was a smoky-goodness spread on this badboy that made it truly spectacular. They also served enough french fries for three people. When we return to visit our daughter and son-in-law we will certainly return to this fabulous restaurant. read more

Had carry out hake and chowder. Extremely salty chowder. The hake fish is a cousin of cod and was pretty tasteless and SALTY. My husband had the Italian pasta bolognese. Enormous amount. He said it was very spicy and salty. I could tell he didn't enjoy it at all, but he did eat most of it. After all it was my birthday. This, my friends, is a sign that they are doing something right! I like the wine selection - that's my beverage of choice. The bartenders have always been very nice to me. Shout out to Jamie who is the coolest!!! On one of my recent visits, server Erica, part of the OG crew, took care of my friends and me. She was very warm and welcoming - great service! The food was soooo yummy. I had the filet mignon with crab plus a side of mashed potatoes. INSANE. Cooked to perfection! My buddy, a frequent flier, suggested I add bacon and cheese to the mashed potato order - and BAM! That really made my taste buds happy! No dessert for us - too full! At the end of our meal, Chef Matt stopped by to say hello. I love putting a face to the person behind the food. I'm watching instagram for the update on when his infamous potato soup is back on the menu! I am looking forward to my next visit. Just had amazing experience! Manhattan was just sublime, one of the best in the QC. Jess took our order & was perfectly attentive without too much interruption. The beet salad and bread service was very good- the olive oil was very good quality, low acid & bright taste. I had a glass of very decent Pinot noir with dinner, like the least expensive & it was still good. The bolognese was just perfect & the saltimbocca (I only got a taste of my wife's) was very very good. Overall the vibe isn't old school Italian or classic steakhouse but it's cool & calm. Passing through town picked this gem for dinner. Bustling atmosphere for a Tuesday. I had four small courses. Very interesting chef. Bread service came with salted butter and EVOO. The EVOO had balsamic trapped beneath it within the ramekin, so I had to dig around to reach it. Fun. Tried the "caviar", which might be better labelled as potato pancakes with American sturgeon caviar garnish. Very good, if slightly oily and a seemingly skimpy on the caviar due to its headline billing, and price. Then the chicken liver pâté. This was a surprising flavor combo. It was like a winning Top Chef challenge, where they had to combine unusual items. Rich chicken liver pate with gherkins, arugula and mustard on the side, but with blueberries and strawberries on top. It works. Finished with the hearts of palm and crispy mushrooms, which did not need tomatoes. Interesting combo there but it felt like a work in progress. Too much sun dried tomato flavor crowding out a subtle dynamic. I could imagine roasted broccoli hanging with the dish, but then, too many green things? The colors all seemed to matter. Great wine list. I overheard, "bottle of Rhombauer..." Really? Davenport, I had no idea. Pleasant staff as well, very hospitable. read more

Pan Roasted Northern Walley at Monarch. If one happens to be considering what to get whilst sitting in a cozy-comfortable booth at Monarch, try the walleye. I don't post much about food (text or pics), but I just had a delightful meal along with excellent service at Monarch. The walleye was fresh and sweet against a not-too-cajun-but-just-right bed of sausage and rice. The flavors merge perfectly. Our server, Jess, was exactly the kind of person who makes going out to eat a pleasure--warm sense of humor, completely professional, and perfectly paced service from start to finish. My server I believe her name was Haleigh(?) and everyone who worked 11/9/24 all deserve a round of applause for such great service. This appears to be a relatively new restaurant and I really liked the atmosphere inside and out (modern, clean and open) - and the food quality was excellent! For my main course, I ordered the Power Bowl with Grilled Chicken (see picture) and my wife ordered the Beef & Broccoli (see picture). As we always do, we shared tastes of each others dishes and found both of them to be quite delicious - so I'd highly recommend either if you are visiting. The quinoa was so tasty and the grilled chicken was done well - with a good amount of moisture intact. The Beef & Broccoli was a bit salty to our tastes (probably from the soy sauce), but still very tasty. I would highly recommend this place - while the value is a bit on the pricey side, if you can get past that - you will thoroughly enjoy a stop here. An absolutely amazing restaurant. First off the service is fantastic. The servers are all so nice and happy to be at work. The bartenders make great cocktails and the atmosphere is great. The inside is well laid out and a great ambience. Now the food. Just wow. Everything we have gotten off the menu is fantastic! The steak and frites, lobster roll, and the pepper steakhouse burger are just a couple of my favorites. If you get anything with fries, ask for a side of the creamy spinach to dip it in! Absolutely amazing! And their desserts are amazing. My girlfriend like to go there just for cheesecake at times! This is an absolute great meal and fantastic date night spot! The food was absolutely delicious. A little pricey but definitely worth it. The drinks were well made. I don't drink whiskey at all but the Apple old fashion was absolutely delicious. Didn't taste like whiskey at all. The carpaccio with the added lime juice was a great surprise and assed loads of flavor! Our waiter was so nice and checked on us to make sure we had everything. From the moment we walked in our experience was amazing, the setting ,the lighting everything was on point! Waiter knew his stuff and was constantly checking to make sure we were okay even tho is was a full house. Now let's get to the good part!... Food, OMG!!! A great start with a few kinks to work out. We dined with Monarch last night and overall really enjoyed the experience. I'll start with the areas for improvement as there were only a couple. The dessert menu needs to be re-worked completely. Between the three of us, we have tried three desserts and all of them were not any good. The blueberry lemon crumble, which you'd expect was a coffee cake style, was pudding style stuff in a jar with granola on top. That was a total disappointment. The apple crisp and chocolate mousse was also disappointing. The salmon dish sounded promising but the salmon and potatoes lacked flavor. The most flavorful part was the salad which overpowered the plate. Finally, the poke bowl was disappointing. The full size for $29 has the amount of protein you'd expect from a sample. I eat poke very regularly in locations across the US and I have never seen so little protein. Now for the good stuff. 1. The decor is top notch. Truly beautiful from the bar to the bathroom. Very sophisticated, high end look - dark and moody. 2. The service at the bar, table and front is top notch. The bartender (short red haired female) was exceptional and we loved her. 3. The peppercorn burger, steak and shrimp and beef carpaccio was incredible. We really enjoyed these and have re-ordered a few times. The complexity of flavors on the burger are surprising for the quad cities but greatly welcomed. 4. Great drink variety - we loved the J & J. What a great surprise! This was a highly unexpected gem of a place. From the moment we walked in, I could tell that this place was the right choice. The decor is very tasteful and flowing. Modern, upscale, yet elegant and obtainable. They have the aesthetics of the place down to a science. The service was refreshingly wonderful. Our server was beyond amazing. She was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and pointed out the strengths of the items we were on the fence about. Her timing on the drinks, appetizers, and entrees was impeccable and some of the best I've experienced. With these things in mind, I had high expectations of the food. And it did not disappoint! The hummus and shishito pepper appetizers were great! Simple yet completely balanced. The crispy rock shrimp was some of the best shrimp I've ever had. It was absolutely incredible. My grilled salmon entree was the icing on the cake of this experience. The entire dish was perfectly presented, cooked, and seasoned. This place is amazing! Solid 3 stars... We had a few hiccups upon being seated, but the professional staff comped our first round to wipe the slate clean. Great list of custom cocktails and local drafts...I liked the hazy slap witch for my first. Noticed the joint is quite noisy when filled...need some sound dampening panels on the ceiling. Started out with the bang bang shrimp and hummus...shrimp was great, hummus lacked flavor, but a bit of salt and pepper brightened it up. I chose the "best chicken" dish....crispy chicken quarter served on mashed potato and broccolini.... Potatoes needed seasoning, and chicken was slightly overdone which could have been more moist. Saved room for the strawberry shortcake...great sweet biscuit, macerated strawberries, and topped with a scoop of ice cream...great dessert! There was a bill mixup, and another tables appetizers got added after we had signed the check, but the staff caught it after we left and called us to fix the issue... no harm no foul! Ambiance is spacious beautiful brasserie, prices were slightly above expectation, and staff was friendly but at times discombobulated... I think this place will end up great, it seems they need to work out the kinks before our next visit...at first glance this joint does not make the list. read more

Very much enjoyed both lunch and dinner here, have tried scallops, salmon, orange chicken as well as some salads, the caviar platter, and desserts. All have been fresh and flavorful. My only critique is on the desserts; the salted caramel is so very good... almost has a burnt caramel flavor (in a good way) and is so delicious. However, both the cheesecake and mousse seemed to lack their proper texture. Both were more like a pudding. They taste great, but neither give the texture that you'd expect from cheesecake or mousse. Still highly recommend, but generally I skip the desserts now, which is a shame. read more

The first time I went to eat at Monarch, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was and how nice the atmosphere was in general. I first went here for a work dinner and now it's sort of a go-to place whenI'm planning events and need a simple good place to eat. I've been here for multiple work dinners, birthday parties for friends and more and have always had a good time. The food can be a bit pricey as this was something some of my friends complained about but the food and service are great! They also have a private room for big parties you can book which I've used many times when I go there. The only reason I'm not marking it as 5 stars however is because the last time I went there, a friend of mine found a hair in her food. Despite the hair, they responded professionally and replaced the meal with an apology. read more

Don't skip the fries or dessert, they're both deliciously amazing. What's great about Monarch is that it's BYOB. They don't charge any corkage fees! However, if you're like us, and the one bottle you brought wasn't enough. They have an extensive list of great wines that you can select from. My friend and I just went last weekend and picked out a tasty green wine from Portugal. Can't recommend Monarch enough. Definitely the best in the area if you are looking for a nice dinner with family or friends. Lastly, they're opened on Mondays!! Huge bonus points since so many restaurants in the area are closed. Wow! Really good. We met another couple for lunch on a warm Saturday September afternoon. We were seated promptly on the patio and got in our drink orders. After a bit, we all ordered our entrees and they arrived after a bit. We were enjoying our conversation, and it did take a while for the food to come out, but we were fine with the pacing. I got the BLT with the $1 addition of cucumber as suugested by the chef...it does add a nice touch to the BLT, as does the aioli. I got the side salad with it, and the Bleu Cheese dressing was fantastic, as was the mix of greens. My wife got the Salmon BLT, which was equally good, and both our sandwiches had the crispy bacon, which was amazing. Our dining companions got the Veggie Plate - which was an eclectic mix of veggies, which she enjoyed very much, and the other person in our party got the Tuna Poke Bowl with Pommes Frites. The Pommes Frites was a large serving of slender, crispy fries that he enjoyed very much. Service as pleasant and paced well for our purposes, and you pay via a portable reader at the table, which I like very much. Overall a very good experience. Definitely recommended. read more
