My daughter ordered an extra small, beautiful prom dress online for her very petite full-figured stature, which makes it difficult to buy clothes. The new dress needed hemming at the bottom and straps needed adjusting. I am new to Novato but although I'd regularly used another alterations place already in this town, the ladies there were thoroughly backlogged being closed during Covid, and I didn't know of any other place to search -- but I knew I had seen Mondi's sign before on Grant Street which I'd driven by countless times. My daughter and I kept our fingers crossed as we dashed over to "Mondi's Sewing" to see if anyone could get the dress ready in a snap before the impromptu "prom," which was actually a formal affair held at a home by parents (because there were no regular proms during Covid), and this was their senior year before going off to college. I am so glad to say we were graciously treated and welcomed by Mondi who squeezed in our alterations wishes and accommodated us so professionally and considerately. I highly recommend Mondi for caring and conscientious alterations services. And I can see Mondi is a one-stop shop for alterations, dry cleaning, and other services, all of which I will seek for future needs since our experience during the prom-dress-mini-crises was handled with perfection during a busy time of year with all the restrictions on businesses, and absolutely Mondi made the dress fit like a glove with her magic touch. read more

I just picked up my Down Comforter and four pillows, and I'm quite impressed on how new they look and feel! The new owner Mondi is friendly and that helped make the whole process enjoyable. After initially examining two of my pillows (which are feather filled) she offered to sew an additional layer on them to help minimize quills poking through. I loved the idea and was happy to bring her two older pillow cases to use. I went to Mondi's when the zipper on my bag insert was stuck. She fixed it at no charge, which was great. I recently took some jeans to be shortened and because it's a small fix she said she would do it as soon as possible even though she has much bigger jobs. Furthermore, she's very friendly and accommodating. I just moved to Novato in March and am happy to support local businesses. I rarely need dry cleaning services, however my friends and I had a semi-formal party at a park and I had a dirt stain on my skirt. Additionally, I had brought in a delicate lace dress I wore for graduation while it was 97 degrees out. Mondi is very kind and makes you feel welcome from the time you enter the door. When I gave her my items, I had great confidence leaving them with her as she was very friendly and understanding of the situation. I came here originally to thread my eyebrows and saw that she had a cleaning service. She destroyed the skin on my face and returned the clothes more dirty than when I originally gave them to her.. I had an altogether bad experience with "Modi". I found her to be deceptive, not straightforward and at the end of the day her charges were excessive. There were also less important irritants like arriving at her shop during posted open hours only to find it closed. I brought Modi one pair of suit trousers the needed one inch increased in the waste area and 1 inch off the pants length. No cuff was needed. We discussed both needs. She said that would be $35. I thought this was reasonable, it wasn't a very big job and at the end of it I would give her a nice tip. Instead, Modi was full of bad surprises. She decided to do one thing at a time. First did the waist which was completed OK. I had told her that I had a 30-inch inseam for years and the trousers were 31 inches so all she had to do was make the pants shorter with no cuff. Instead of this being simple she invited me into the dressing room and took about four minutes pinning up the pants. We then went back to her cashier area and she informed me that the next step would cost another $40. I complained and she took me to the dressing room where it showed there was a minimum $15 charge on fitting. And then she said the charge for the shortening of the pants was $25. Altogether a simple job cost $75.00 which I found excessive read more

Fairly new to Novato and read some good reviews of Novato Sq Cleaners here and on Google, but I've stopped by three times on three different days during their posted business hours and they've been closed in the middle of the day. Each time there was a chalk board note on the door saying they were open that day, but would be back later. Three wasted trips to drop off laundry and sadly won't try a forth, even after trying to call and see when they are actually open. read more

I was looking for a cleaners/alteration service in Novato that is open on Mondays. I did a google search and called a few places. I learned that this cleaners is under new ownership as of November 2019. I brought a bunch of clothing that needed little things fixed and some bigger things. The new owner, Mondi is a doll. She is so friendly and the place of business is immaculate. Her work is impeccable. She is always on time and will work with you if you need a rush. Sometimes she will call you back in to try on your garment before she makes the final stitch so that it fits perfectly. Being a practical woman she looked at the receipt, something I hate to say I was NOT doing. She brought to my attention that I was paying a LOT for my shirts! I just moved here a little over five months ago and figured I would give Novato Square Cleaners a try until I got settled in and found a dry cleaners I liked near me, but now I think I'll just stick with them since they have yet to disappoint. Everytime I pick up my clothes, it always smells amazing and everything is perfectly folded as you would hope.They are extremely professional and responsive too. And I love the fact that there is the option of a scent free detergent, since I hate strong scents. Mondi also offers quality tailoring and alterations. My washer broke and my husband who is the DIYer was out of town. I had piles of laundry, I am not exaggerating! I took a hatchback FULL to these sweet folks. Two days later I picked up clean and beautifully folded laundry. (Only one teensy issue of no fabric softener but maybe I needed to ask for that?) It saved my sanity.
