My account is so old it was Rainier Bank, then Puget Sound National and I think it became Key Bank after that. I mention these banks because of the old timers reading this you'll remeber those days. I just was informed that Key Bank Visa has closed my account. It goes on to say due to inactivity. WHAT?! This account is FIFTY YEARS OLD! I used the account once a year paid it off in full to keep it zeroed out and open. This is a gold star on my and anyone's credit rating. Twice I had written 4 digit checks to pay off previous balances. Since then I kept a ZERO balance on it. The letter claimed, "they doubt it would affect my credit score." Oh Really? Read on.... That is a LIE! Here are the FACTS and harm done because I was not giving them any interest on by using and living on credit. PROOF banks are only looking for PROFIT$. Equifax just sent my monthly notification and upon reviewing I see this action resulted in dropping my credit score EIGHTEEN POINTS. On Equifax it's still listed as :Very Good: by their standards, gee drop 18 points = VERY GOOD from 855 to 839. It's effing criminal. La-tee-effing-Da After this experience as a loyal customer of FIFTY YEARS with perfect credit record (pre-covid my score was 821) I say people AVOID them like the plague. If you do enter your debt card, you enter the complete transaction and at the end it says "Can't complete the transaction" and ejects your card. This place is beautiful on the outside, but a complete fail with any service being used.
