I've been letting my brows grow out for about a year and decided that I would take this mini-vacation opportunity to have them waxed and tinted. I went onto Yelp and almost immediately found this salon. I read all of the positive reviews and decided to make the call. I had no problem setting up an appointment for the next afternoon. I am so happy with my visit. Tamara was truly wonderful. She helped me choose the best brow shape for my face and really took her time in understanding what I was looking for. She gave me some helpful tips to assist in covering some of the sparse patches in my eyebrows. Her's was the least painful wax I've ever had. I have sensitive skin around my eyes and it is usually red and inflamed after a wax, but not today. After a beautiful waxing, she moved onto a tint using henna. Her attention to detail was so apparent and appreciated. She truly takes pride in what she does. She also gave me a referral for someone locally when I return home. I left today feeling so happy with my new brows. I will most definitely visit this salon again the next time I am in town.

I always feel brand new when I leave. I have been to many salons, from Jacksonville Beach to Saint Johns areas. None of them were as good as this place in Fernandina Beach. I drive 45 minutes for Danielle because she makes sure my hair is done right and I'm happy. Serendipity does not always have someone to take calls but be patient with them. They will call you back and they will ensure you get what you want. You will not be disappointed with any of them women here.

I went in for gel builder nails, and what I got was unbelievably bad: thick, ugly, and completely botched designs. Every single nail was so poorly done that I had to go down the street immediately and pay another $70 at Happy Nails just to fix them. Thankfully, Happy Nails was kind enough to discount me while they salvaged the disaster, because literally every nail came apart during the fix. The worst part? I tried explaining the situation in person and even called later to speak with a manager -- no one returned my call. Zero accountability, zero care. Do yourself a favor: avoid this place. Outdated nail techs who shouldn't be doing anything beyond a basic manicure. Truly the worst nail experience I've ever had.

My first concern was for the constant turn over in stylists & staff. My second major disappointment came after I had an appointment that was scheduled almost 2wks in advance, only to be called 20 minutes prior to my appointment asking me to reschedule my appointment in order to accommodate her last minute walk ins. Ms. Deena stated that she didn't want to let her walk in's down who had not planned in advance for a holiday weekend (yet, I did plan in advance and even mentioned while setting the original appointment that it was the Saturday before a holiday & would work perfectly). I wasn't even given the option to not give up my scheduled appointment. I was made to feel as if I had no choice. She did suggest another day that was very inconvenient for me, insisting that I come in on that day AND bring a 3 yr old along to "hang out" for a minimum 2 hr process. It's not the most child friendly space, with lots of things she would have likely gotten into. I was deeply disappointed & hurt. I would not have enjoyed my time, nor would the child (and probably not anyone else who would have been there as it was during the child's lunch hour & nap time). After thinking heavily about the situation- and considering other factors - I decided to cancel that appointment the very same day that I was asked to reschedule (not the day I was rescheduled for). 3 Days later I received a text from Deena with excuses that had not previously been mentioned during texts in which we agreed on which process to apply - a full foil highlight w/ my last foil highlight being @6mos ago. I was satisfied with the cuts & colors I had previously received, but I was not satisfied that my time & needs were less important. It was an important holiday for me & my family as well. My husband summed it up perfectly by explaining to me that our business must not have been that important to her if she was so easy to cancel me without regard to my time & needs even though she was made aware that I was not comfortable giving up my appointment, bringing a toddler into the salon for such a long appointment, nor having to rearrange my entire schedule (which then effected two other uninvolved people as well). Maybe this was just a fluke ... and doesn't happen often, but it only took once for me. * original review: After stopping in for a consultation - I was completely won over. The team at Deena's Salon are simply awesome. I felt very comfortable talking w/ them about what I was looking for in a long term cosmetologist & what I was thinking of doing to my almost virgin long hair. They really listened to my concerns & ideas, then offered several options for me to consider, noting which ones they felt I'd be most comfortable moving forward with. I'm so happy I chose to stop in. There were some other folks coming in and out, and the stylist was extremely polite in attending to them, but I couldn't help but notice the clock ticking. And then I remembered to chill out because "hey, no rush, I'm on vacation anyway!" We New Englanders can get a little uptight about efficiency sometimes, so a dose of southern relaxation was extremely beneficial. However, if there was one thing to improve, it might be this. Really appreciated the candid recommendations. I originally thought I'd do an all-over color plus highlights, but Deena convinced me my base color is totally awesome already. I also pulled one of those "oh just do whatever you think will look good" comments, but Deena gently pressed for specifics to ensure I would be pleased with the end result. (Good thinking.) Great conversationalist, really cool local insights, and Katie the manicurist was charming, too. The reason for finding a different salon is the lack of customer service. They ask on their website when booking to be courteous and let them know if you can't keep an appointment. However, they don't extend the same courtesy. I called to make an appointment for July 4 at 12:30. I talked to someone and he repeated my appointment to me. I received a confirmation. They never contacted to let me know that they would be closed on that day instead. I drove from out of town (over 45 minutes). I left a voicemail asking them to call me the next morning to reschedule and they never called.

I am so lucky to have found my heaven on earth salon, I am so happy to have Janet as my stylist. I couldn't find the 2 items I needed, so I asked one of the young employees. When I told her the items, she led me to one of them, but for the second one she took me elsewhere. She continued to try and sell me on this new product, applying what she thought was a good color for my face. It was too dark and then she started to add contour. I told her I barely wear makeup and didn't want contour. She proceeded anyway. I was hesitant about the liquid product and how dark it was, so I asked for a lighter shade. She applied a lighter one on the other side of my face that blended in seamlessly. I told her I liked the second one. She continue to push me on the darker one and the contour. I told her I was going to skip it completely and just get my normal products. Then she stated the above quote.
