Stopped here with a group after our grandson's hockey tournament. Food was excellent. Pizza was hot and delicious. Salads are huge, dressings are fresh made. I had the tortellini with Alfredo sauce it was very good, served with two bread sticks. Sandwiches are huge with lots of meats and cheeses. A must try when in Springfield.

The clientele in this establishment is amazing always so nice always greeting me as I'm walking and treating me with lots of respect no matter what.

Monical's for me is that memory refresher from college where I first tried a Monical's pizza and famous "red" sauce over 15 years ago. Fast forward and it remains to this day one of my favorite food spots to hit for pizza in the Midwest. My fiancé had never been before so a few weeks ago I finally took her for dinner and she loved the pizza as well; although my spirit was crushed when she admitted to not really liking the red sauce. The special sauce isn't for everyone but it is at least a must try with your pizza/breadsticks. We also ordered an appetizer of meatballs which ironically enough I have never tried; we both loved them and at first she said she didn't even want meatballs! Any Monical's in Illinois to me is a tradition worth passing along to others and passing along that tradition is easy when the food is delicious!!

It's a chain, expect restaurant chain service but the best go to pizza for the money.

Some of the best thin crust pizza I have had in a long time. Very crispy... Reasonably priced and good staff.

Not sure I understand the popularity of this place. Food-eh, service-eh, price-ouch.

Anyone else put the French dressing on their pizza at Monicals? I grew up eating this way...

The atmosphere felt dated, with dark wood-paneled walls and a dining room that seemed geared toward an older crowd. That's not necessarily a negative, but the food was the bigger disappointment. We started with the bruschetta ($14.50), which was not what we expected. Instead of a traditional bruschetta, it was essentially sesame-seed bread topped with olive tapenade, red onions, tomatoes, and olives. It lacked freshness and balance. I ordered the Shrimp Alfredo ($26.00), and it was simply bland. The baby shrimp, fettuccine, and Alfredo sauce came together in a dish that was forgettable and lacked flavor. My husband and son were similarly underwhelmed by their meals. The baked ravioli was probably the best thing we ordered, but even that wasn't particularly memorable. The house salads arrived swimming in Italian dressing, and the house cabernet did nothing to improve the meal. Overall, the food felt dated, heavy, and uninspired. We left wondering how a restaurant with such a strong reputation could serve food that seemed stuck decades in the past. Unfortunately, this is not a place we'll be returning to.

Our party enjoyed the spaghetti with meatballs and pizza. Everything tasted amazing and fresh. The desserts were incredible, especially the tiramisu. While parking can be a hassle depending on when you go, it is well worth it. Cannot stop thinking about the food since we left and am very excited to come back soon.

The ambiance was welcoming and made you feel like you were definitely in an Italian restaurant. It was a little loud but not to a point where it was unbearable. We started with some Itialian lemon tea and peach tea that were unbelievably tasteful. We also had to try the black cherry cane soda that was so flavorful. NEW YEARS SALAD was so good and everything in the salad seemed to be of high quality. I wish there was a little more dressing but overall the amount of dressing would prob be great for the normal person. I ordered the FUSILLI AL PESTO and it was so good. I added shrimp to it and it went well with the flavor. The bread they bring out was so soft and delicious. We could have eaten another loaf. We also ordered the pizza and it was so good. The kids ate the whole pizza and said we have to come back here again. I have to say the pizza was not like any other pizza in town. The parking can be a bit tough but absolutely worth trying to find a spot.
