A local establishment. Service was good. Honestly, we really didn't have the house specials to give a fair review. I had a Chefs Salad and my wife had Baked Ravioli. The food was good. We walked around town and honestly, there are not a lot of food choices.

We loved Saputo's!! I'm SO glad we didn't heed Mary K's lame review. I don't think she ate at the same restaurant we did. They do have a basket of crackers, but that wasn't the bread basket we were brought. We were served bread twice in a basket that resembled the basket, the crackers were in. Some people are just never happy with anything. On to our fantastic experience at Saputo's. Our wonderful server was Vanessa. I hope you have the pleasure of meeting her. I asked for a salad with extra dressing and I got it! Wow! This most certainly was not a dry salad. We enjoyed some complementary bread and butter before our entrées arrived. My wife ordered the spinach Alfredo with chicken. I had the lasagna with two meatballs on top. Vanessa suggested that I mix the meat sauce and spicy marinara. That was an unbelievably excellent combination! There's a reason this place has been a local favorite since 1948. It was one of the most enjoyable Italian restaurants we have ever experienced. Food and service are five stars all the way. We cannot wait to return. We do not have an Italian place this good at home, in Kansas City.

Saputo's is an old school Italian restaurant located in downtown Springfield. I had the veal parmigiana and it was delicious. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed!

During our recent stay at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel for a convention, we decided to try Saputo's Italian Restaurant, which is just a short walk away. You really can't miss it, the brick building with a large neon sign stands out nicely. We arrived on a Saturday evening just before the dinner rush without a reservation. While we were seated right away, I'd definitely recommend making reservations if you plan to come on a weekend night, as it fills up quickly. The interior has that classic old-school Italian vibe, exactly what we were hoping for on a cozy Saturday dinner. My husband ordered the baked lasagna with Italian sausage, and I had the baked ravioli made in-house, served with Italian meatballs. We started with bruschetta, which was a great choice to kick off the meal. Our meals came with a simple house salad of lettuce and tomatoes with a choice of dressing. When the main courses arrived, fresh sliced bread and butter were served....a lovely, authentic touch. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The food reminded us of classic "Ma and Pa" Italian cooking, hearty, comforting, and satisfying. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would happily return if we're in Springfield again.

Service was good. Pizza was great thin crust. My hubby loved the meatball sandwich. Motz sticks were perfectly cooked.

Super friendly and very knowledgeable! True to Napoli's style, Service was top notch! Pretzel Bread service to kick things off, served with Spicy Mustard and Spicy Queso, both delicious. I'd have to say the queso was my favorite, but... we'll yeah it's cheese! Hayden let me taste the Sauvignon Blanc on happy hour and while it wasn't unenjoyble, I went with the non-happy hour Reisling for the win, which was delicious! Coastal Hour Crispy Rock Shrimp as an appetizer, which is about 1/2 the dinner size and perfect as a starter or even as a meal with a soup or salad. Really nice breading on the shrimp, not too thick. Good flavor on the sauce, not spicy. For the entree, Louisiana style Halibut with Crawfish and Cajun Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The plate comes out piping hot, please don't touch. I even had to cool off each bite of food. Well balanced flavors, cooked perfectly. No room for dessert, so I settled on the Smores Martini which was an amazing dessert choice. You get all the flavors of a Smores treat in a libation. Truly enjoyed this Thursday eve!

Worth the wait?! First any potential patrons need to understand two things going In, one, except…read morefor pop/bottled water, we're talking a BYO liquor situation. Thing #2, this is a ONE-MAN OPERATION. Yup, he's the waiter, the prep-cook, the chef, the front-end manager AND the 'cashier'. At least that's the deal on Thursdays when we typically go. Ultimately, the first point works in your favor, cuz with a little forethought, a small cooler and your favorite beverage, you will likely save you and yours at least $10. As for the second premise, our suggestion is to ask for timeframes early and often...then get comfy and DOUBLE those estimates. Hopefully your company (and/or your phone) will make the time disappear without notice, because it'll honnestly be a bit. Wes is a very busy man...and he tends to tell you what you wanna hear - the only things actually preventing a fifth Yelp star. Just know that the chances are quite good that it will have been well worth the wait. Mac-N-Cheese, killer. Steaks, juicily executed extremely well. Combinations of proteins always seem to mesh well, even in something as simple as a wrap. And just when you think you understand what it is that he does really well, he throws a chicken and waffle dish that blows away anything else in town, possibly any other such attempt at this iconic southern dish. (Pro tip, try a side of jerk sauce or BYO Tobasco.) Perhaps he has assistance on the weekends - one would hope so anyway, but this place definitely makes us appreciate hard work, good times and outstanding cooking. Great take out game too!
