I am so pleased to find Di Piero's! Having grown up in NYC in a partially Italian neighborhood I am pretty particular about Italian food. When you walk in, this restaurant feels like it could be in NYC, Chicago or Palermo - and the food is as good as the environment. I had their pan fried pasta with Italian sausage and spicy sauce - it was delicious! My wife had their seafood linguini and it was good & garlicky and she loved it. Newly opened locally owned business with beautiful Old State Capitol view. Had a huge really good drunken mussels appetizer. We had plenty to share with our friends. Good house salads. We had tutto de mare seafood and pasta and hubs had chicken cacciatore. All really good and very generous portions. The Kaluha dessert was out of this world. Honestly, please don't go!! I would give less than 1 star if I could. Staff is awkward... and not social folk to say the least. This place screams "wannabe Italian food hidden in crackhead Springfield." It was Saturday night at 8 pm, typically, good restaurants would be packed... not here. We were the only guests. I didn't like my salad that had raisins. Yes, raisins!!! And the waitress questioned me three times on why I didn't eat my salad. The big Italian man, owner I'm assuming is racist. I'm Mexican and he was telling our waitress who in lieu of knowing Italian spoke Spanish. The owner said, "cut that shit out. I don't want to hear that Spanish shit. That shit doesn't even sound Italian." I mean c'mon!! Will not be going back. Definitely should be checked by the health department. Wouldn't be surprised if there were roaches. read more

First, I waited over an hour for our entrees to be served. Secondly, we waited 20+ minutes to get three small salad before our meal. Thirdly, they served my entree in a to-go container on plate whole everyone else got a regular plate. Fourth despite the long wait for salads and our meal they checked on us once that entire time. This new, locally owned restaurant just reopened. It's newly remodeled with a great view of the Old State Capitol. The food was delicious, hot and fresh with generous portions. You can choose each segment of the pasta dinner from the type of pasta, sauce, and add ons. There are numerous choices. The service was prompt and very friendly. Will definitely return.
