My family has rented the same condo complex for years, using a different OCNJ realtor. While on…read morevacation this year, the owner of Jesse intruded into my condo three separate times to correct a leak in a condo he purchased. I was never told the second time that his contractor would be returning. The following day, I had contractors in my condo from 9-3, and my condo door was left unlocked and wide open, with a chemical smell permeating the entire condo and breezeway. I was unable to use my shower that day. The owner never expressed concern for interrupting my vacation, nor did he attempt to do anything to rectify the situation aside from offering a discount on his property for the following year. There are countless realtors on the island. Do yourself a favor and choose anyone but Jesse as they obviously have no interest in customer satisfaction.

It was extremely dirty run down and falling apart!!! Upon arriving had to literally clean before we could put our things down! We had to call the reality company because the first thing we could not use was the toilet, as the toilet seat was falling off the toilet and was painted over--gross!!! Then upon inspecting the unit the shower curtain was moldy there was dried blood on the bed and the pull out sofa was falling apart and there was toys and food inside it!! The linoleum in the kitchen was full of holes and the hardware on the kitchen cabinets were falling off!! Also mold in the toilet , dirt on top of the refrigerator, screen door bent and unusable, sliding closet doors off track and the furniture and TV were probably purchased in the early 80's!! We sent pictures of all these things to agency to be forwarded to owner! All involved washed there hands of the issue! Beware do not rent this unit!!! They both took our money and did nothing for us!!! They told us that they don't have time to check there 1600 properties to make sure they are fit for rental! They have to rely on the pictures the owner gives them--so I have the true pictures if someone wants to really see what this rental is truly like!!! Do not use this real estate company and do not rent unit 506 in Santa Barbara north!!!!! We trusted this real estate agency to stand behind what they posted online!!! They did not!!!

Upon checking into our rental property in Ocean City, NJ (329 Corinthian Avenue, 1st Floor) I…read morenoticed immediately that it had not been cleaned. It was an older property and at lower price so I was not expecting it to be the nicest place; however I did expect it to be cleaned properly. In fact, prior to renting my husband asked the realtor about the cleanliness and we were assured it was clean. My family has been renting at the Jersey Shore for 40+ years so we are more than accustomed to the normal wear/tear of beach rentals; however we have never experienced arriving to a rental so filthy. I reached out to our realtor and quickly received a call back. Our realtor stated he would reach out to the owner and be in touch. Shortly after that phone call, a woman named Stephanie arrived (assuming she was the owner, but she did not identify herself as the owner) to assess the situation and agreed that the house was in need of a cleaning. She contacted "the cleaning service" and informed us that it had been a different crew than normal and they would return to clean that day. She appeared to be concerned, apologized and upon our request provided some cleaning supplies, which I definitely appreciated. Later that day we received another call from the realtor stating that cleaning crew could not come back until tomorrow. Our options were to wait until Sunday OR the owner was willing to reimburse us the $145 cleaning fee. At that point, we had already spent 2 hours cleaning the place so unhappily we accepted the reimbursement. However, it quickly became evident that no cleaning crew had ever been there. By the time we got the rental to place where it was livable (hours later), we seriously questioned whether this property has a regular cleaning service (hence the quotes earlier in this review.) Some highlights: When making the beds we noticed the mattress pads had blood stains (see photo). The amount of sand/debris near and on the washing machine was appalling. There were soiled clothes on the side of the washer, along with trash, lint, empty detergent bottles, and useless cleaning supplies (a broom that did not work). The entrance way (should have gave it away) was covered in litter and leaves (see photo). In addition we found out later that the outside light bulb was blown out, so my husband had to buy light bulbs to replace. Just an example of neglect of regular upkeep and maintenance. Additionally, the plug in the master bathroom did not appear to be up to code as it was not GFCI protected. The floors were covered in sand, dead bugs, debris, food and band aids (see photos). The window sills and outside deck were covered in black film and looked like they have not been wiped down in months. My husband bought a broom and bucket and borrowed a hose to clean thoroughly, we ended buying table clothes as well to cover the tables. We had to do this for the kitchen table too because it was so sticky and grimy that everything stuck to it. The amount of debris under and in (it was a pull out) the sofa was disgusting. (see photos) The refrigerator was dirty- my husband asked the Stephanie if the cleaning crew typically wiped it out and she did not know. As a rental owners, ourselves, this was shocking. We provided our cleaning service with a very detailed list of tasks to do in between rentals, clearly this was not the case. In addition, the freezer had a ice machine and the ice smelled and was inedible - when it melted it tasted disguising. I am sure the filter had not been changed in years. Again, as regular visitors down the shore, we are accustomed to the water; however this was beyond anything we ever experienced. We ended up buying bagged ice the entire time. The bathroom sinks were dirty with toothpaste and floors covered in hair. To say this was unpleasant is an understatement. We ended up staying in a hotel for a couple of nights just to get away. Because of this, we requested that the owner consider reimbursing for one full night (which, in my opinion is conservative). I wrote to our realtor with the request and received a very brief email stating that an email had been left with the owner. That was the end of the communication. I followed-up but never heard back. Eventually I submitted communication via Fox's website addressed directly to the owner (Gary Jessel) but did not hear back. I also sent the attached pictures but again no response. I get that there is a short summer season in NJ therefore the opportunity for making money is limited however the utter disregard and obvious neglect is unacceptable. I expected better from an agency that has been in OC for so long but was greatly disappointed.

Instead, we arrived to find a leaking ceiling. Based on our experience and the communications we received during our stay, it was clear that the owner was already aware of the issue before we arrived, yet the property was still rented to us. We dealt with repeated disruptions, poor communication, and missed repair appointments after spending valuable vacation time waiting for contractors who never showed up. Rather than allowing us to enjoy the vacation we had paid for, the owner offered to charge us only for the days we had already stayed and have us leave early, cutting our vacation short. We didn't spend months planning and paying for a family vacation just to be told to go home. The owner ultimately confirmed that the ceiling was safe, there was no emergency, and that the repair could wait until after we checked out. Despite that, the owner entered the property during our stay. If there was no emergency and the repair could wait, our privacy should have been respected for the remainder of our vacation. To make matters worse, this wasn't our first disappointing experience. During our stay last year, we were without air conditioning for three days. After two years of major issues, we've lost all confidence in Berger Realty's ability to provide the vacation experience they advertise. The compensation offered did not come close to reflecting the inconvenience and disruption we experienced. We will never rent another property managed by Berger Realty, and I cannot recommend them to anyone looking for a relaxing, worry-free vacation.

This was, without question, the worst vacation rental experience I've ever had…read more We paid nearly **five thousand dollars **for one week at 1122 Ocean Drive, Apt. 4, expecting a relaxing beach vacation. Instead, we walked into a property with a ceiling leak that, according to what we were told during our stay, both the owner and Berger Realty were already aware of before we arrived. Knowing there was an unresolved roof leak and still renting the property to guests is completely unacceptable. From the moment we checked in, our vacation was overshadowed by stress, uncertainty, and constant disruptions. We spent valuable vacation time waiting for contractors who never showed up, dealt with poor communication, and had our vacation repeatedly interrupted. Rather than allowing us to enjoy the vacation we had planned and paid for, one option offered by the owner was to charge us only for the days we had stayed and have us leave early, effectively telling us to cut our vacation short and go home. The owner later confirmed that the ceiling was safe, there was no emergency, and the repair could wait until after we checked out. Despite that, the owner entered the property during our stay. If the repair could wait, our privacy should have been respected. The problems didn't stop there. The mattresses were among the most uncomfortable we've ever slept on, several of the TVs didn't work properly, and although beach tags were not included under the rental terms, it was yet another added expense on top of an already disappointing experience. For a property that rents for nearly $5,000 a week, it was in disappointing condition. Based on our experience, it did not appear to have been maintained to the standard we expected for the price we paid. This wasn't our first bad experience with Berger Realty. During our stay last year, we were without air conditioning for three days. After two consecutive years of major problems, we've completely lost confidence in both the owner and Berger Realty. The compensation offered did not come close to reflecting the inconvenience and disruption we experienced.
