BRIDAL REVIEW: The team onsite is extremely helpful and kind. We had someone come up and introduce themselves saying they were going to work with us (we had an appointment) but after waiting 10+ minutes for them to finish up with a client downstairs another person came up to us to show us dresses. While we were waiting, we were asked to wait downstairs (general shopping area) as to not disturb the vibe of upstairs (bridal only). Which is fine but it would have been nice to see the dresses while we were waiting. Also, since there were 2 more groups waiting at the time all the seats in the store were taken so we were awkwardly standing off to the side. Finally we were able to see the dresses and I am not sure if they just had like the newest collection available for try-on but I felt like their selection was limited. I scheduled an appointment because I kept getting ads on instagram for them with a ton of beautiful lace ballgowns with a ton of variety but in store there were like three. By the time we tried on the dresses we were just so over it I didn't really ask any follow ups as to why the selection was so small, so my recommendation would be to call ahead and check to see if the dresses you are interested in are in store. As bridal appointments go, I felt that it was missing the experience. Like it felt more like I was going shopping for everyday clothes if that makes sense. My daughter, her mother-in-law to-be and I had a great experience shopping for a wedding dress. Our appointment was the first of the day and we were right on time. While the young lady who unlocked the door after I rand the bell wasn't very warm or friendly, our stylist was great. We were taken in about 5 minutes late, but Mona was a pro! She did a great job qualifying my daughter with all of the rights questions, bringing her a couple gowns she had seen on Instagram and online, but also suggesting others. The salon is lovely with daylight streaming through the front windows of the second floor. Although we didn't get the front window area with the lovely faux cherry blossom tree (they book 2 appointments at a time) my daughter was able to walk up and down the walkway to get a feel for the flow of the dresses. Mona sis a great job of pacing our appointment with not too many dresses, but enough. She really romanced each dress, telling us about the design, the lace and trims, etc. Mona also knew exactly how to guide me in my role as mother-of-the-bride. She told me where the best photo opportunity location was and made sure that I filmed a video of my daughter walking and turning in THE ONE! Yes, we found the perfect dress for my perfect daughter. Thank you Monique Lhuillier for helping us have such an amazing day, despite the mask requirements with vaccination and no champagne served - we made up for it with 2 glasses of wine each at lunch right afterwards. read more

Firstly, it took me a while to find this place as it was located on the side of this large Ralph Lauren store. When I finally found the place, I was at a disadvantage with my disheveled self as I was half an hour late to meet the bride and walking into such a beautiful store wet from the rain while sweating profusely. I was greeted immediately as soon as I walked in and directed to where to meet my cousin. Upstairs is where they hold hour long appointments for soon-to-be brides and house of their beautiful gowns. As soon as I made it to the platform at the top of the stairs, I was greeted by an extremely friendly and welcoming stylist Frank. He immediately knew (and remembered) my name and directly me to meet my cousin and wait for her on the couch while she tried on dresses. She had already tried on three gowns before I got here so some questions I had was really repetitive for the stylist. Unlike some stylists we've met, Frank showed NO annoyance in answering questions he's already answered and re-capped the beginning half hour of their session. He asked if I wanted to see the first couple of dresses my cousin tried on, to which I said no, because whatever she had on when I got there was beautiful. I've always love Monique Lhuillier gowns when I was getting married, but actually seeing them in person was awesome. From the fabric of the gown to the intricate designs to the beadings, each gown really showed off the class of Monique Lhuillier. I cannot say enough good things about Frank because he was the absolutely the best stylist we've encountered. Showing patience, offering suggestions rather than opinions, and displaying politeness and manners, it's amazing how the treatment of the stylist can make a bride's dress shopping experience. I did take pictures of the bride, which we had asked before hand and would not post any of those pictures up for the privacy of my cousin and the boutique. For any future brides, I would recommend you come check this place out. This is HANDS DOWN the best bridal shop in Manhattan. I went to Bergdorf Goodman, Vera Vang, Mark Ingram, and Saks before coming here... I wish I hadn't wasted that time as ML is WORLDS ABOVE every other atelier I had visited. The store is lovely, the receptionist greets you with a smile, the salespeople are knowledge, patient, and kind. I worked with Tara, who is an absolute dream. Because I'm in the fashion industry and very particular, she spent extra time with me discussing modifications and options. She was never pushy and always gave thoughtful advice. Tara really listened to what I was looking for and worked very hard with me to craft the perfect wedding dress. I have never experienced service like this! The seamstress, Rita, is like the favorite aunt you never had. She is BEYOND talented and also a doll. I adored working with her at each fitting. There were a few snafus with the custom color I ordered and everyone from ML handled the issue timely and professionally. MUCH extra work was done on my gown than anticipated and everyone did it with a smile. I truly felt cared for every time I stepped foot in the shop. I really can't say enough good things about my experience. From start to finish, even with a few bumps, I have only glowing things to say about Monique Lhuillier. I did not end up getting my wedding gown from Monique L'huillier but i felt the need to yelp about my experience because I had the best gown shopping experience here out of all my appointments! My wedding consultant, Frank, was amazing. I liked that he was warm and unpretentious. All of ML's gown's are laid out to display. Frank let me browse through them to see which ones I liked before selecting a few that he thought would compliment my body type. Also, although I told him that my venue was small and not "ballroom" like, he insisted I try on some of the larger ballgowns just for the fun of it. He also said that if I felt it wasn't appropriate for my event space that was fine too, but the most important part was to have fun. =) The appointment lasted only an hour, but I did not feel rushed to buy anything or to scramble out of any dresses because they wanted to turnover the fitting room. If you are considering shopping at ML - before you make your decision, head to Glassdoor reviews to educate yourself about what happens backstage. An American sweatshop hiding behind the glamour of blissfully beautiful gowns. Often sewn by experienced seamstresses in their 60s-70s, in a state of nearly passing out because they don't even have AC or freezing because they don't have warming in the facilities (managerial level employees apparently do). Mean girls environment and toxicity of narcissistic managers and their corresponding enablers. Just a heads up. My actual review is for Nicola from LA Flagship. I had bought a used ML wedding dress from a person online. This dress had been left at ML for repairing and they also facilitated the dry cleaning. The timeframe given by ML to deliver the the fixed dress was 3-4 months. When I bought the dress I was not made aware that it's still in the process of restoration, and it has been there for 4 months already so it was expected to be done any day. Nicola was contacted by the seller to provide status update of where the dress is and when they are able to hand it out. This information was essential because I had about one month left till my alterations appointment. Nicola did not provide and update in a 1 weeks time, not in 2 weeks time either. Safe to say I was already getting very stressed. I was left in complete darkness of whether I will be able to have the dress I bought or not (worth mentioning I still paid 77% of the actual retail price of the dress, for a used dress). I did not get any information/update whatsoever during the whole month despite the fact that Nicola was very clearly made aware of how sensitive and urgent this situation was but she still didn't have it in her take the necessary steps to be able to provide status update and even try to speed up the process which was very clearly delayed. I should also raise this point - in any business transaction, deadlines should be taken seriously, and even more so in a top tier place like ML is supposed to be. At a point where I have waited 1 month, the dress was delayed by 1-2 months already, which is a major delay, but Nicola still did not bother to try and speed up the process. The only thing left to do was the actual dry cleaning. I finally took it upon myself to contact her directly as I hoped it might help to explain how desperate and stressful my situation was - but she had close to zero empathy and only kept referring to the fact that I am not their direct client so she does not have to speak with me. I was not asking her to share details, I was asking her to take action to deliver on their end of the deal. She did not care about my situation, nor did she care about the fact that they absolutely did not meet their standard processing time of 3-4 months (regardless of 3rd parties involved, if ML are the ones facilitating a 3rd party service like dry cleaning, they should be seeing to it that deadlines are met). She made sure to make a pointless comment about how most of their brides choose to keep their gowns as heirlooms and the dresses in the dry cleaning are not usually to be used again by another bride. When the actual seller was completely ignorant and reluctant to solve the situation that she got me into by not disclosing that the dress is not ready, she told me that that ML have wealthier clients to deal with and can't be handholding me, I understood exactly what's going on. I understood what kind of customer care they provide and what kind of clientele they prefer to cater to (As another reviewer mentioned here as well), while leaving basic obligations and empathy out of the table. I run out of time and the seller ragequit so I had to find another dress last minute. It goes without saying that this incident in which Nicola did nothing to help, was highly stressful and anxiety inducing, in a situation which should be joyful and pleasant instead. I did not even ask Nicola to care, in the end this was about ML failing to deliver on their promise of processing time being 3-4 months, but things like empathy and basic etiquette should not be lacking either. I was not at all surprised reading their employee reviews on Glassdoor - narcissism and toxicity, mean girls culture, shone right through in my brief but significant experience with ML. read more

I did not buy my wedding dress here because after much thought, living half my time in Seattle and half my time in San Francisco made it to difficult to buy it at this location given the need for multiple alterations. However, having said that, I really enjoyed my first bridal appointment which was with Frank Trevino. I was greeted upon entering and they set aside a room for me for a good hour. I described what I was going for and Frank was understanding, patient, and flexible. Given that the boutique isn't humongous, don't come here with your entire family and all your bridesmaids - come with 1 or 2 individuals at most. Their dresses are all absolutely stunning and lightweight - and range from $3-$15K. I told them that I did not want to go into the double digits and they were very accommodating. All in all, if you're a Monique fan or a fan of lace-y and elegant dresses, make an appointment! read more

I had a wonderful experience shopping for my bridal gown here. The salon is also very elegant and they display the dresses so you can see them when the consultant picks them. It is nice and quiet and they do not over book the salon therefore I felt confortable and confident. They also allow pictures. The dresses are beautiful, as expected and it is best to go with your buget in mind and be honest with the consultant. My consultant was Tara. She is very sweet and knows how to listen before reccomending any dress. The appointment lasted about an hour, an hour and a bit maybe. I did appreciate the fact that Tara did not go over the buget with her sugestions as often happens to other salons. When you are ready to order your measurments are taken and the dress is order based on a chart. I learned today that the wedding dresses label sizes are not matching the street size you usually wear. The dresses arrive based on the size chart order and then they are altered. If you need your cups opened or any other special order they need to be placed with the dress order and this extra options are charged. The alterations have a flat fee and not a percentage. A bride has 3 alterations before the gown is picked up or delivered. I did order my dress today from Monique Lhuillier's fall line. It was my second appointment to the salon. I will come back with another review once the dress arrives. read more

I had the most spectacular experience at this boutique with Zach. I had the ability to walk around and point out the gowns that best fit my style. While the sample sizes weren't my actual size, it was no problem to try every single one that I liked on--Zach adjusted everything to fit my body and made me feel so special and beautiful. I ended up not buying my wedding gown from here even though it was in my top 3 (and NOT an easy decision...) but still had a really wonderful experience and ended up leaving with a little something anyway. Frank was my consultant and you can add me to the long list of people heaping praise on him because he really is extraordinarily talented at what he does. I'd been having some health issues and was heavier at my November gown try-ons than I'd been in a long time, but he still put me at ease and chose a large and varied selection of gowns that I loved trying on. At one point he even suggested combining elements from two, artfully layering one gown on top of the other on me, which elicited (good) gasps from my mother and bridesmaids at the appointment with me. The experience was very personalized, intimate and, yes...luxurious. We had an hour and a half for the initial appointment but we never felt rushed and had the run of the whole upstairs of the atelier. My mother also tried on a few potential gowns and Frank was helpful there as well, even though my appointment was officially over at that point. When we discussed what I was looking for I said "nothing too blingy" right away, not so much because of the price but because I didn't want anything I felt was too flashy or cumbersome (gowns with lots of beading and embellishments can weigh so much, and I wanted something I could move and dance in). After trying on maybe a dozen gowns (Frank suggested going from "poufiest" to smallest in silhouette) the last one was the Zoey, which was this darling white dress with lace appliques and a mesh top over a fitted sweeheart bodice, with a tiny stiff peplum and layers of lace and tulle. Gorgeous mix of traditional and a little edgy. My bridesmaids were oohing and ahhing and asking if they could touch the dress ;-) and I felt amazing in it! A few weeks passed and I chose another wedding gown, but I still dreamt about the Zoey. I would wear it for my rehearsal dinner, possibly later in the night at my wedding and later have it dyed a very pale color to wear as a cocktail dress. I wrote Frank to put the order in, making the appointments for fittings when I'd be back in NY was easy and I was always treated well as a customer even though the Zoey cost "only" $3,000 (which is much less than most of the dresses and gowns ML carries). I lost a couple of dress sizes in those few months and my seamstress Jenny was not only very talented but very kind and thoughtful. She left the extra fabric in just in case the health issues (and weight) came back and added a grosgrain ribbon belt inside the waist to nip it in a bit. The dress was promptly shipped to my mother's house in NJ (the shipping was significantly less than sales tax and they shipped it fully insured and requiring a signature) and packed in a way that it was easy to pack back to Scotland and arrived still gorgeous. This is the only time I plan to get married, but ML now has a customer for life for cocktail dresses or formal events should I need more of them in the future. Scheduled this appointment months in advance and came in from out of state. While they had a nice selection I was appalled by the service. The sales woman I had was rushing the entire time and in a panic within the first 2 minutes of my arrival. Even worse, she put back dresses I hadn't tried on yet while I was not looking and told me I would not look good in certain styles because I was not a 0 and shouldn't try certain items because of this. I am a size 6-8 depending on the designer. I left the appointment with tears in my eyes and although found a dress I liked (upwards of 10k), I couldn't get myself to bite the bullet because the woman made me so upset. I went to their Trunk show today and luckily my consultant was Frank. I've been to many bridal boutique and he's one of the kindest consultant I've ever met. I tried on many ball gowns and he never once complain and tell me that I shouldn't even after I already found the gown that I love. Unlike a lot of the consultants that I worked with before. he would always help me pick up the gown ham to make sure I won't trip. It is something I always struggle while trying on ball gowns. He also didn't mind my requests to put on corset underneath and try on the gowns with the heels since I'm very petite. He is also very thorough with the information that he give out. Even-though I didn't make a decision today because I still need to show it to my mom when she is in town, I'm 90% sure that I will go back and get the gown. Overall it was a very good experience because of Frank. He has a way of making you feel like you're a royalty. read more

Bought my wedding dress here - amazing design, exactly what I wanted. The one star is for the in-house tailoring. AVOID. If you want a ML dress buy it someplace else (saks, etc). They are massively understaffed, unorganized, not worth the stress. First appointment: the women was a bit brusk. She kept telling me how she loved my venue and complained about how she had always wanted a client to invite her to a wedding at my venue but that people in NYC were not that friendly. It was a pretty awkward, but fine as I understand it is a sought after iconic venue. Second appointment: the seamstress was running behind and upon seeing me in my dress started on my hem -- and was muttering to herself "women are so difficult." I was shocked, but thought oh well. Then a girl left the room the tailor had come from she was in tears. Her mother looked distraught. Not reassuring. On my dress lace appliqué has been removed during the shortening procession and only put back on 1/2 of the dress. I asked why the other 1/2 wasn't put back on and she told me "that is the way it was supposed to be." I had pictures on my phone (from when I tried on the sample) and showed them to her. She literally yelled across the room "someone bring the sample." The sample showed the same thing. She was clearly annoyed and curtly told me "fine, why don't you just put pins where you want them then." It was very, very uncomfortable. The appliqué was no longer in my bag, but she assured me they would find some. On my the last fitting, the hem still wasn't done! But, at least the appliqué was back. They offered to send the dress to me versus having me come in, but given the issues in my prior visits I insisted on coming back in to try on and be shown how to do the bustle which still wasn't done either. Upon getting there for my "finished dress" -- one of the bustle straps fell off as they were tying it. And, another one was entirely missing/hadn't been added. If I had let them send it to me, I would have put it on my wedding day to find 3/5 of the bustle would have NOT worked. The designs are beautiful - but the level of disorganization was SURREAL. The seamstress was unprofessional. If you want one of their designs, I would buy the exact same dress again as I loved it -- but GO ELSEWHERE! read more

She is professional to the max, compassionate, and most importantly, she gets what looks good on different bodies and she gets style. I am very wish washy about what I'm looking for in a dress. I had a particular idea in mind in terms of style and the first dress she pulled ended up being the one I chose. Prior to coming to Monique Lhuillier, we visited a couple of Bridal Salons: Kleinfeld, Pronovias, and Saks and I have to say that nothing beats my experience with Frank at Monique Lhuillier. From the moment we (my parents and I) entered the salon, Frank greeted us with his smile as he quickly offered us a drink. He then let us browse through the different dresses before bringing them to my dressing room. I gave him a very generic description of my dream wedding dress "ball gown, poofy, lace." He carefully listened to what I wanted and while incorporating my mother's opinion (I told him how much I care about my mother's opinion). He pulled out this dress, a dress that I would have never picked out in the first place and it turned out to be "the one." I didn't purchase the dress right away because my mother in law planned to visit us the next weekend. Frank was very understanding and he told us to schedule another appointment so she could see the dress. We came back a week after with a much larger group (my mother, mom in law, sister in law, and my maid of honor) and we all agreed that we had the best experience here. This review is for Jillian and Rita. I had the most wonderful experience picking out a dress with Jillian. She was not pushy and really helped me weigh my choice. I ended up not buying the dress I liked best in the store but rather calling back a few weeks later and ordering it. There was zero pressure which I apprecaited. RITA is AMAZING. I had an amazing experience shopping for wedding gowns at Monique Lhuillier. The salon is beautiful and the gowns are gorgeous (even more gorgeous in person), perfectly constructed and made with the finest of lace, silk, embroidery etc... But what really made my experience at Monique Lhuillier so wonderful was my consultant, Joselina. She was so nice, knowledgeable and helpful and made me feel so comfortable. I left the salon feeling beautiful and as if I had made a new friend! It was a truly fabulous experience and the only reason I didn't purchase my wedding gown from Joselina is because I got extremely lucky and ended up finding (and purchasing) a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown at a sample sale/store. If you are shopping for a wedding gown in NYC, you should make Monique Lhuillier your first stop and request Joselina to be your consultant. I waited write this review until after my final fitting, however, I've had only positive things to say since day 1. At Monique Lhuillier you 100% get above and beyond what you pay for. From start to finish I was treated like an absolute princess and made to feel extremely comfortable and well taken care of through out all of my appointments. Every employee I came in contact with was so genuinely sweet, happy for me and interested in my wedding planning details. Midori, especially, is AN ABSOLUTE DREAM. If you call to make an appointment, ask to meet with Midori. Never once did she make me feel pressured, and she consistently offered honest, helpful and wonderful advice (from gowns to headpieces to veils). From April (when I first visited ML to December) Midori was by my side for all appointments, and constantly available via email for any advice about accessories, hairstyle, etc. While I thought my experience at ML couldn't get any better, that all changed when I met Rita! Rita, the director of alterations IS SUCH A TALENT, and an extreme pleasure to work with. Rita did everything to make sure my dress was customized to my exact fit. She caught issues that I couldn't even see, and wouldn't possibly let me leave it a dress that wasn't 100% perfection. Working with Midori and Rita made me feel like a giant weight was lifted off of my shoulders, and like I could just sit back and trust these wonderful women to make my dress fantasies come to life. That level of care and personalized attention is truly invaluable. I would definitely recommend any brides in the NYC area to visit Monique Lhuillier.. you won't regret it! read more

First, Frank is WONDERFUL to work with - His passion for what he does is evident and his warmth and personable character make him a joy to work with. Frank helped me find my ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS rehearsal dinner dress, which was 3 sizes too big when I first tried it on. However, Frank immediately introduced me to the amazingly skilled seamstresses at ML, which leads me to my second point... Second, the seamstresses at ML are beyond skilled. They understand the fabrics, the gowns, the individual wearing them AND the way Monique intended the dress to fit. When I returned for my "second fitting" the dress fit SO perfectly that were was nothing else to be done. I plan to come back to ML on a regular basis and it is 100% because of the level and quality of service provided by all who work there. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I never write Yelp reviews. The only one I've ever written was for my dermatologist who I love and who asked me to review her. But I am so frustrated with my customer service experience with Monique Lhuillier that I had to indulge myself... I purchased a pair of their shoes from their online store to wear for my wedding (on principal I would never spend $865 on shoes, but I was looking for something knockout because the design of the dress highlighted the shoes and I was having a terrible time finding anything. So I figured for the one time event of my wedding I would allow myself the indulgence). When they arrived the soles were noticeably scuffed, which I chalked up to other customers trying them on, and it didn't bother me because it was the bottom of the shoe and they were otherwise in pristine condition. I tried them on and they were gorgeous but they were too high...so I returned them. If any additional scuffing happened while they were in my possession it was testing them out in my apartment on hardwood floor, or after tying thick plastic bags over them and testing out walking in them on grass (outdoor ceremony). They refused my return and accused me of wearing the shoes and returning them!! If I caused the shoes additional wear, then the fact is that the soles present wear simply from trying them on. I wrote them and told them the situation, and we had a number of email exchanges, but at the end of the day they accepted no responsibility, stonewalled me, and refused the return. There is no question that their product is beautiful and finely crafted. But I am shocked that a store of their caliber would have such a chintzy customer service policy. So I reluctantly own the shoes now and will never wear them after the bad taste this whole experience has left in my mouth. Wish me luck selling them on ebay! read more

Purchased my wedding dress here. The boutique and dresses are very beautiful but the service is garbage. They're very sweet to you before you purchase your dress but once you do, DONE. I dealt with Frank and he is probably one of the phoniest people I've ever encountered. He misinformed me and miscalculated things so much I cannot count. My dress was altered by their "in-house seamstress", some Turkish lady...let's just say NIGHTMARE. My dress was completely loose and she screwed up where the zipper line was, it should've been on the side of the dress like normal dresses but she somehow managed to get it to the front!!!! They told me my alterations would be capped at $750 before buying the dress but like I said, once they reel you in it's over, I ended up paying $1500 for screwed-up alterations and they do not budge on price even if it's their fault!!! GO ELSEWHERE for alterations, NOT WORTH IT. In all honesty I would suggest you purchase your Monique gown at a different boutique location or thru Kleinfelds. I cannot stress enough how awful my experience was here. BUYER BEWARE. Holier than thou attitudes surround this place. A tip to Monique Lhuillier: re-vamp your staff to a more humbler crowd. read more

I recently bought an engagement party dress and wedding gown from here. The service was amazing but working with Rita to tailor both gowns was really what made the experience special. She was patient even though I had a difficult body to work. She also was a perfectionist and had me come back 6 times for my wedding gown to make sure I would leave with it being perfect. I would highly recommend tailoring all dresses bought here with Rita! read more
