I am from Houston and this is probably the third store I'm doing a fitting at. My friend decided to book an appointment here for me during my visit in New York. I told her my budget, what my non negotiables were, and I let her do her thing. I am the type of person that trusts the stylist enough that I don't have the need to go around and look for dresses. Let me tell you, the dresses she brought back did not disappoint. I had fallen in love with a Yumi Katsura dress the day before and Jamie found me a top contender. I took my pics and figured I would sleep on it. I went back to Houston and decided I would keep shopping for a bit. I found myself trying to look for a similar style to what Jamie had found for me with no success. I reached back out and asked if she had the Yumi dress in the store. She did not but she called it in from another place so I can try it side by side with the top contender she had found. Summary: All Brides RUN from this bargain basement "bridal store"! I wouldn't wish this scam of a biz upon ANY bride. Their overpriced dresses and horrible alterations will ruin your wedding. Please don't become their next victim. Long Story: I visited the Bridal Loft after other bridal stores in NYC and at home. I had other gowns under consideration. The store is dirty and disorganized. The gowns are also EXTREMELY overpriced. Two dresses that I tried at Kleinfeld's were priced HIGHER here! I decided to take a look at the sample sale gowns. After seeing that some of them were discolored to the point of being LITERALLY BROWN & BLACK INSIDE, I should have left. It is disgusting that these were offered for purchase. But I saw a gown in a clear garment bag that caught my eye. It was not discolored or gross, I tried it on. I loved it, but it was a little too tight. They claimed they had an in-house seamstress that could let out the back, hem, bustle, and professionally clean and press the dress. They promised the alterations would be fast and the seamstress had a location near me (2 hours outside NYC). I purchased the gown 9 months before my wedding. After purchasing, I called the seamstress and left voicemails for months. 2 months before the wedding, she sent me a TEXT MESSAGE saying that she was "going back to her home country" and would not alter my gown! I contacted the store and left messages- no response. I remained polite in all communications. I FINALLY got through to someone after posting online about the seamstress situation. The person that finally called me back was the owner "Liz". She had a nasty attitude, seemed to be angry at ME, and told me that I needed to find my own tailor. After I sent her a copy of the contract showing that I paid for alterations, she stopped refusing to assist me- but she was clearly annoyed. Liz told me that since the seamstress near me quit, I would have to come to the city for fittings. I had no choice, so I took vacation time from a new job on 4 different days to make the 4 hour roundtrip visits to the city for alterations-THREE MONTHS before my wedding! At each fitting, I noticed that no work has been done on the dress. At the last fitting only the hem was completed and it was VERY CROOKED. There were beads and rhinestones that were suddenly loose on the bodice. The seamstress began to make strange comments like "This is a sample, sooo...", and "It IS a sample gown, so...you know...." as if to tell me I should not expect a decent quality of alterations to be performed on a sample wedding gown. However, she still said the alterations would be completed and sent to me within a week. 3 weeks passed. 7 days before my wedding, my gown was delivered to me in a beaten up box with several previous address crossed out by a marker. My wedding dress was THROWN inside the box in a rumpled pile. Not attempt at folding it, let alone shipping it in a proper garment box. THE DRESS HAD NOT BEEN FITTED at ALL! It was now SEVERAL inches too big in the bust, sides, and back, with loose beading, and there were now STAINS all over the satin skirt that had not been there before! I called and emailed the owner Liz. She ignored me for hours, then asked for pictures. After pictures were shared, she never responded again. I cried for the entire day. I spent the week of my wedding visiting every tailor in a 50 mile radius. They were all horrified that a wedding dress would be delivered in such terrible condition from a bridal shop- but they couldn't fix so many mistakes in such a short time. I finally found an amazing seamstress who couldn't believe a professional seamstress would do this to a bride. This tailor shop owners felt so bad for me that they agreed to try to save the dress and clean it. The last minute seamstress worked a miracle and fixed the dress in 3 days- finishing the day before my wedding. Last minute alterations cost me $1,000. They worked a miracle, but didn't have time to fix the hem or make the bust fit perfectly. The top fit well enough for pictures, but I could feel some slippage during dancing and had to adjust it. (Still miles away from the unwearable condition it was delivered in). The hem on the layers underneath was so long that I could not do my first dance without tripping. We had to cut most of the dance, and my planner had to pin the dress hem up with safety pins so I wouldn't trip during the reception. This dress ruined my wedding photos and our special moment of having a first dance. The stress isn't worth it. Go elsewhere. Avoid at all costs! read more

I had an appointment to find a dress in late 2025 and only waited to leave the review since I did not receive my dress until recently. I'm honestly surprised at the positive reviews for this bridal shop. My consultant was Bianca, and as soon as we started discussing what I was looking for she seemed to almost be mad / annoyed that I had questions. She interrupted me multiple times as I tried to explain what I was looking for, and borderline scolded me about speaking too quietly - it was extremely off-putting right off the bat and if my friend hadn't been there shopping with me I would have left immediately. The conversation felt very aggressive, like she was either making fun of me (for not knowing exact dress styles, etc.) or I was wasting her time. My friend separately noticed and commented on how she was treating me. There were other interactions we had with a few other employees where it just seemed like they didn't want to be there. I ended up finding a dress there but I regret purchasing it and patronizing this business. I have nothing but praise and admiration for Nina, the sales associate at Designer Bridal. I advise any new bride seeking their dream dress to request Nina for bridal appointments. Her experience and great insights into the dresses, fabrics, colors and veils that work uniquely for each bride are unmatched. During my first appointment, I went in with no vision for my dress. Nina guided me around the store, very quickly discerning the styles I liked and didn't like. She was very perceptive to my tastes and quickly pulled out 10-12 dresses which helped me narrow down my top choice. During my second appointment, she had the dresses with my updated preferences ready, was hyping me up, and also shed some tears with the rest of my group when I put on the veil for my favorite dress. It genuinely warmed my heart. After the appointments, Nina was on top of communication and answering questions. She always responded promptly, offered support, and was very kind in her responses. Long version: I had a wonderful experience working with Kate at Designer Loft and highly recommend you request working with her. The appointment process was simple and easy--no appointment fee, and the store was quick to confirm my request with a more flexible time than initially available on their website, which was a nice touch. Kate took the time to carefully review my style preferences before the appointment (DL requests you fill out a simple form and bring reference photos), and when I arrived, she went through my photos with me. and then started pulling dresses that aligned with my vision. She was very knowledgeable about the store's inventory and picked out options that were either exactly what I had in mind or very close to it. I appreciated that she listened to my thoughts on each dress without pushing anything on me, and she could easily tell when something wasn't working just by my reactions, which made the whole process feel comfortable, stress-free, and effortless. In the dressing room, Kate was respectful of my comfort and made sure to ask about my preference for her presence while helping me get in and out of the gowns. She was candid but super polite about what was and wasn't working for me in terms of fit and style. All I have to say is; Kate. Ok I have more to say- Have you ever had someone know what you want and what's best for you even before you knew it yourself? We went into the store with a vague idea of what I wanted and what would look good. I definitely was not planning on buying anything but Kate created perfection for me. Perfection in the way she listened, in the way she spoke warmly and made me feel very comfortable, in the way she went and pulled out dresses for me to try on that were amazing for my body shape and size. I am not a decisive person. She had so much patience and worked her blank off for me. Every time I made a little comment about how I felt, she came up with solution after solution. I hate being sold. I will never buy anything on the spot. I was completely blown away by how accurately she helped me to where I wasn't being sold but rather she created and found the ideal dress for my wedding. I couldn't not buy it. She found the dress that was meant for me and makes me feel incredible and so special. What's crazy is that if we had a pricing question she would bring the manager; Hagar (who was also super nice) into the room and Kate would go to bat for us to get approval to make our price point happen. The salon was chock full of dresses but it wasn't chaotic, crowded or overwhelming. My Stylist Jamie was absolutely incredible! She had music playing, champagne and a tripod so I could FaceTime my sister who lives in Colorado. I had come here specifically for 1 designer/dress but was open to trying a few different styles. After a few interview questions she knew exactly what I was looking for. Every dress I tried on was gorgeous but in the end that one dress I made the trip for was My Dress. I told her different aspects of dresses I liked and she curated a batch of dresses that align. She brought out a "wild card" dress and it was THE dress. It was a dream dress. The other store employees were so supportive and helpful in making me feel like a bride. I went the next day and I was met with open arms by the team and they were so helpful in my purchase. The dresses are so beautiful and their range of dresses are so vast - this is a must stop in your bridal dress shopping. I bought my wedding dress from this shop in 2018 and from the moment the shop ordered my dress, it was a rocky road. The dress is style Paulette by Calla Blanche. I had asked to find out if it came in another color than ivory like an off white or cream, but never heard back until I reached out to find out it was already ordered. Without my knowledge the dress was ordered a size up, and months sooner than I had been advised. For production, we had asked if the sheer panels could be replaced with the white fabric, but the designer declined. Fine. We ordered extra fabric to have it altered in. I regret having my alterations done here. I was quoted at $900 plus the cost of the additional fabric. The fitting experience was OK and Natalia (Natasha?) kept me calm during the process. At my last fitting, I brought the dress home, hated it, and called the next day to come back in to fix the neckline. She did it that same night! I thought I was home free, but wait there's more. My wedding was 400+ miles away in my hometown, so I drove it in a couple weeks beforehand. Thank god I did. I tried the dress in for my mom AND THE BEADS AND RHINESTONES WERE FALLING OFF! I had to pay ANOTHER SEAMSTRESS $100+ to secure all the beadwork so it didn't fall apart or unravel. Super disappointed. I wish I had a better experience for such a memorable time in my life. read more

4 stars for Michaela!!!! Upon our arrival we were asked to go wash our hands. No problem! My first thought of the place was "Wow" There's dresses in every corner. And boy was it HOT up there. Michaela, greeted us and was quite pleasant. I gave her my budget and she went to work. You look through the dresses yourself. So bring your muscles. I had two dresses on my radar and was satisfied, but it was my first stop so I didn't purchase anything. Once we left, I was told that one of the ladies at the desk stated to our consultant "don't waste your time going upstairs (discontinued dresses) with that price point. I really liked the Marchesa gown I got for my wedding, but my experience at designer loft was disappointing, to say the least. There were a few small issues here and there (communication / scheduling things) but the main problem was that they (apparently) charge a flat rate for all tailoring. I only needed a hem and a bustle, and for that it would be $600. I wanted to look elsewhere but my dress took longer to arrive than they said it would, so by then I was worried about timing and also in the busiest part of planning, so I just didn't have the mental energy by that point to look elsewhere. I wanted to ask if they would reduce the cost given how little I needed. Designer loft basically works with two tailors who work out of their space but who are not employees (I believe) and because my tailor wasn't present they said they would ask. They did not. I figured that at least the service would be good / they'd do a great job, given pricing, but that didn't prove true. When I came in a week before my wedding to try on my dress for the second time with the tailor (by this time the tailoring was meant to be done) it was so long that I was stepping on it as I moved. The tailor kept saying 'oh it's perfect. It's beautiful,' even as I was stepping on it. I asked her to shorten it, and she said they could, and then she lifted the skirt up a bit and I saw that there were still pins all around the ends. She hadn't hemmed it at all. So I'm not sure what she'd been doing in the two weeks between my fittings. During this fitting, I was also frustrated because the tailor smelled strongly of cigarettes, as did her fingers, and she was touching all parts of the dress. The smell of cigarettes makes me really nauseous so this was especially upsetting. All of this happened quite quickly (appointments were less than 10 minutes) so I didn't have much time to process everything, but as soon as I got home I sent a long email To designer loft (after not reaching anyone by phone) laying out everything that had happened, as above, and asking for help figuring out a solution. Their only response was to see if the dress could be readied by Monday (tailor told me Tuesday, and I was to leave on Wednesday for my wedding). After that email, and my response for them to let me know, I received no further word. So then on Tuesday, an incredibly hectic day because it was the week of my wedding and also the day before I was leaving for the city where my wedding took place, I had to come again to get the dress. The hemming was not great. It was sloppy and uneven. The bustle was just one button, which meant by the end of the night the dress was dragging on the floor. I was offered no recompense for the shoddy work, the time / energy I wasted, or the preposterous amount they charged for such small tasks (a bad hem job and one button sewn into the dress). It was a stressful time so I didn't want to make too much of a fuss before, especially because I felt in a way as though my dress was being held hostage, but I really feel they take advantage of women during a hectic and stressful time, which is unfortunate and shameful. I would not recommend getting your dress here or using their tailoring services. There are other shops in the city where they'll care more for you. read more

I found my dress and had it fitted at Designer Loft for my April 2023 wedding. It was easy to make an appointment, and the front desk was very accommodating with questions or when I was running late. The inside of the store was very comfortable. Jamie was extremely helpful to pulling different types of gowns, and encouraged me and my guests to take a look around the store on their own. After my first appointment, I was able to text her with some additional styles I wanted to try on, and they were able to have the exact dress I wanted to try on delivered to the store for a small deposit. She was extremely responsive and accommodating! All of the dresses were offered for very reasonable prices--especially for being centrally located in the garment district. I also had my dress altered at their on site business. Their prices were very reasonable, and they were very attentive to every detail. Again, they were very accommodating and responsive.
