Really cute breakfast place! I had a "Matcha Bowl" here, which was really really unique. There was a green liquid-y substance that tasted really mild in the bowl. I wasn't super convinced that it was matcha flavored, but it was definitely green. The bowl was topped with coconuts, oranges, apples, and chia seeds. Not a huge fan of the orange + "matcha liquid" combo, but the other flavors were good. I was also eyeing the iced coffees that the patrons next to us ordered, but caffeine sort of clashes with me, so I decided against it ;). They looked really delicious though! I LOVE THIS PLACE! I live in the neighborhood and this place is my to-go spot. It's located on the one of the prettiest streets of Vinohrady, Praha 2. The decor is super trendy and beautiful. Unlike other Prague coffee shops, someone will greet you right when you walk in. They have a huge couch downstairs and a little garden outside. The last time I was here, a blind man was playing the piano. It was so amazing! Unfortunately, they don't have an english menu but the waitress helped us translate. I ordered a Cafe Latte and a chicken sandwich. My Cafe latte was great! but I'm not a big fan of blue cheese and this sandwich had a ton of blue cheese. Only if they had an english menu, I would've known. Overall, this place is wonderful! I love coming out here even for a glass of wine and love feeling fancy while listening the piano. ;) read more

I just needed to update my review to share this - yesterday when I was ordering, I THOUGHT i ordered the omelet. When the waitress came with scrambled eggs, I said it was wrong and without a hesitation the waitress said, okay I'll bring this back and get you the omelet. As soon as she walked away everyone at my table looked at me and were like "you definitely ordered the scrambled eggs" - so I immediately ran and told her that I would take it. Still, I've had so many bad experiences when waiters/waitresses have messed up my order, that I was truly shocked at how nicely and easily they were going to change my order even though it was my fault. Rarely do I see this "customer is always right" mentality in Prague and it's just one of the many reasons why Monolok customers are so loyal and keep returning - like me. Actually I should stop writing about how great they are so they don't get too crowded with new customers :P read more

In the four days that I was in Prague, I went here twice. I loved Monolok so much! First of all, the space is lovely. It's very full of light and I love the simple silver decor. The breakfast is, like the decor, simple and delicious. I tried the creamy scrambled eggs with chives and a croissant on my first visit. The serving was plenty and the eggs were perfectly fluffy, albeit a little soggy from the cream at the bottom. On my second visit, I got the pancakes with buckthorn berries. They were perfect...so fluffy and the buckthorn flavor was awesome. I also loved the bacon and the cream with them. My friend tried the cheddar omelette and she really enjoyed it as well. I was so disappointed with this cafe. Prices were higher than what you expect to pay in praha. Each dish was not decorated tastefully. Service was so-so. Bread was cold and very bland. And the music was top 40 american music, very weird for a cafe in the Vinohrady district. I would go elsewhere. read more

Lovely place! The cafe has a very open and light ambience, full of sunshine and the quiet murmur of music. The staff was friendly and service was reasonably quick. I ordered a cafe latte and the English breakfast, both of which were delicious. At first I didn't think the breakfast would be enough food, but I left feeling stuffed. There's an English menu, and the staff also speaks English. All in all, a perfect place for travellers to comfortably start to dip into the Czech scene. read more

Being a student from New York City, I was looking for a quiet place to get some quality coffee and studying done. There seem to be small cafes with tattoo-laden baristas around every corner in Manhattan, but I was struggling to find a place with a similar ambience in Prague. This, however, is the spot. Monolok has since made English menus, and the waiters are delightfully helpful. I ordered a cafe latte and a cheese omelette, and they let me hammer out an essay without bothering me at all. The prices are fair, the meal delicious, and the coffee just like home. I'll be coming back here often. It seems they're going for an American vibe too; the first two songs playing in the background were Chuck Berry's "Johnny B Goode" and Presley's "Hound Dog." Adorable. read more

We asked for the scrambled eggs with chives on toasted croissant. We got a bowl of scrambled eggs? And a bowl of cut up bread pieces? When I asked where is the croissant. She brought one cut up croissant for us, even though we had two orders of the dish. Worst service in Prague. Rude person. Expensive as well. I don't understand how this place is one of the top for breakfast. Absolutely won't come back and I recommend other people to don't get hyped by the positive reviews and really see the reality. Monolok won me over the minute I stepped in. What can I say, nice interiors are my weak spot. This one is bright and clean, with pretty bookcases that add some cosiness to it. I tried the cheddar omelette for breakfast and it was fluffy, delicious and quite big - in other words everything you want your morning omelette to be. I also had their fresh mint tea with honey, served in a glass teapot, which was really nice as well. I thought it would be a nice place to do some work and therefore I was pleased to see a lot of people sitting alone and typing on their laptops for hours without anyone asking them to order something else or leave. They will be seeing more of me in the future, I am sure of that. read more

The coffee and breakfast, here, is AMAZING. I tried both the espresso and drip-- each were divine. I had the apple pancakes. One word: YUMMY. It was not overly sweet, which was a huge plus. The presentation is also fantastic. I was grateful to have a seltzer back-- this is how one SERVES COFFEE-- The real way. It is a casual enough place to work. My husband and I came here on our honeymoon a couple months back. During our trip, we went to Praha, Budapest, Vienna and Stockholm and Monolok still stands out as one of our absolute best, most favorite experiences. We went almost every morning we were in Praha since our airbnb was just a few blocks away. Because of this, we were able to try a variety of their breakfast items ranging from the English breakfast to their soft boiled eggs with chives and sea salt and the creamy scramble. Never had I experienced such delicate, well made breakfast food (you'd be hard pressed to find something like that in the US, anyway). And I seriously still dream of their cafe lattes!! Mmmm. I think the pictures of their food and drinks say it all really. Anyway, if I could teleport to any place in the world for breakfast and make it back to Bloomington, IN in time for work, I have to say that Monolok would be it. I also agree about the service being so sweet and helpful. They really made us feel so welcome there. We didn't get a chance to try the desserts, but they looked fantastic. We decided to try a new place on this area. Service was beyond slow. We waited 20 minutes just for coffee and tea. Food has a very good presentation, we had the waffle and the house breakfast. Food took 55 minutes to show up in our table and it was cold. It looked pretty, but cold. Coffee was okay but the chai tea was really bad. read more
