Writing this review as a warning - I was attempting to enroll my daughter into the youth gymnastics program at South Co location - the person I spoke to there, although friendly, gave misleading information causing me to sign up for a membership that was to make the program cheaper - this was a HUGE mistake. I was told the wrong membership to use and after signing up spent DAYS trying to contact someone to remedy the issues only to be told my member fee would NOT be refunded even after explained I was given incorrect information. read more

This place is my second home. I attend the early morning classes. I find the instructors to be knowledgeable about the classes that they teach. It is a crazy group that gets out of a warm bed at 5 am to get all sweaty. They offer swimming, boot camp, spinning and the workout area. They offer a male, female and family looker rooms. Towels are provided. If you are wanting to swim, they offer three or four lanes for lap swimming. They do have group water fitness classes as well. These are usually pretty well attended. On some evenings, I return for round two. More variety of classes are offered in the evening. They have spin class, yoga class, step aerobics, weight training, etc. Swim team tends to take over the pool from 5 to 7 pm. Classes are offered all day on Saturday. Sunday is slower pace day. Tends to be a lots of birthday parties, that are held in the community room. I am not sure as to the rental fee of the room. They do have a child's room so parent's can workout and their little ones are take care of. This is a full service facility. They often offer a week free to check them out. read more

I would love to compliment my personal trainer Ms. Angelica Martinez. She is a very good trainer and makes it fun to train. I also consider her a close friend. I have hired and rehired her for her services five times. I just purchased a new construction home and am in the process of a realignment of my monthly budget. So I'm taking a break from training with her, but will plan to get back with her soon. I would also love to compliment the new Director of Health and Well Being, Mr. Dave Cox. He was an excellent trainer and very personable and fun to be around. He is truly an asset to the organization. My personal trainer Angie is credited with talking me into becoming a part time lifeguard there at the YMCA. I enjoy working there and enjoy all of the friendly employees there. read more

Went to an water class on a weekday and all was fine. Went back to swim laps on Sunday when 3 lanes were supposedly open. Yes, technically they were open but with a bunch of kids "swimming" in them. Won't be going back on a weekend. Loud, kids everywhere and unable to swim laps. How about some adult swim times to swim laps in peace in lanes actually reserved for laps? That would be nice. Yes, Waterloo, build a rec center with indoor/outdoor pool for all the kiddies. This pool is wayyy too crowded. read more

Do not go to this YMCA if you have any intention of actually bettering yourself. After many years of training here, myself and others, were systematically forced to leave. They said we were intimidating, though we have been approached by other members with questions or for help. They said we were loud, though the highschool kids that come in are louder. They said our group was too big, even when we split into groups of 3. No problems until the current director, Scott. I've been training at Ys for the last 12 years and this is by far the most disappointing thing to happen to me. read more

An amazing place, so much more than a swim and gym. The y has inserted themselves into our community. They offer an early learning readiness program free of charge. They feed lunches to the Waterloo school children during the summer who otherwise may not have had a meal. They offer a swim by 10 program free of charge to help kids learn to swim. drowning is the number 1 cause of death in kids. They do so much more and I'm happy to be a member. read more

Friendly staff. Super clean. Lost a star because the family locker room isn't the cleanest and probably needs an update. But can't complain about much else. We love it here. read more
