Even got a cavity filled with Dr. Crohn with proper pain relief of the numbing cream. So at least 4 stars with that. Years later, I got a cavity filled by Dr. Allison Douglas. For pain relief, she only offered the novacaine shot, in which i refused. But it wasn't until I was crying that she stopped and offered the numbing cream. After she applied the numbing cream it was better. However after the appointment, I went home- tooth that got filled hurt for like a week. Also I wasn't given any information on side effects or directions. to boot I also had steak for dinner, and I normally love steak but the tooth hurt and made it hard to eat for a few days. Luckily it subsided after a week. Note 3 stars for that experience Fast forward a few years after that, It was my annual cleaning, Tara asked me about my wisdom teeth, and forgetting, I told her the wrong information, which were that my bottom ones were intact. How easy it is for a doctor to check records, especially if they don't remember or anything? Part of that appointment was xrays, which were taken. Now during the xray process, Tara was understanding on how the positions can be not natural, and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. Which helps. Even while doing the cleaning, she stopped for a second if I was a little sensitive or if my gums bled. Now, when the dentist Alison Douglas came in to check the xrays, she told me, oh you may need more fillings. Now I didn't say anything at that time, but If my last filling with her was a bad experience, and as long as I don't have teeth pain myself- I don't really want any dentist work done. Alison also failed to explain to me where on the xray, she sees I have cavities. She kept saying "Oh you know, You know" Obviously If I Am asking then No, I don't know. I am also a firm believer in that healthcare is both the doctor and the patient agreeing to a treatment plan that works for the patient. After that, It was the last straw and I wouldn't recommend this office at all. Maybe for the other dentist Dr. Crohn and My Hygentist Tara. But other than that- No because some need pain relief. I also no longer live in the area. Hope this office realizes that bad experiences can cause Trauma, and sometimes that can be no good for health in the long run, and I say that because I haven't been to the dentist since, and this was more than a few years ago now.

Cleaning is always comforting and she stopped if i was bleeding or feeling senstive. Gotta admit that removing tartar has been a little uncomfortable to me because it is like scraping the tooth, and I brush my teeth twice a day with no issues. But the way tara does it is very gentle. I have 3 stars because last visit, which was years ago, but the other dentist alison i believe filled my cavity without novacaine, and it wasn't until i was crying that she applied the numbing cream on my tooth, which i had to suggest. Didn't explain any side effects either, as for a week, i couldn't chew that much and my tooth that got filled hurt. Didn't even tell me to take advil or offer medicine for pain relief. After i got the cavity filled, at my last appointment, i did xrays, and they found a spot where they may have to fill a cavity, but it was a small one. They didn't even show me that xray, or ask if my tooth bothers me. For me, If a tooth bothers me then i am more likely to get it filled, not just because "I have to.." Consider what the patient wants as well as what may be needed on the doctor's end. I don't recommend coming here because of the dentists. The hygentists are fine, but the dentists seem to have some kind of agenda and not care what the patient wants. More so because of my truama, i may not ever go to a dentist again. If i find getting a cavity filled hurts, i need to be sedated or at least with a strong numbing agent. Update: I have to update my review. I went in for fillings and was handled with an older dentist…read more In total, I probably went back and forth about 4-6 more times. This was due to him not being able to locate the cause of pain, as he claimed he had filled all cavities and that it can take up to "two weeks for the nerves to not be sensitive" post-filling. Eventually, he said I might need a root canal. Well, after wasting an incredible amount of time and gas I ended up finding another dentist. They located the hole in my filling and filled it, as well as the other cavities. They told me that was the source of pain and that I definitely didn't need a root canal. I don't have the issue anymore, it was fixed in one visit with another dentist. I was also told I had periodontitis and would require deep cleanings every 3 months. This was also false, as confirmed by other dentists I saw shortly after. My teeth are actually in great shape. When I called them to get my records, they tried to tell me they couldn't "release" them to me. I ended up getting them anyway. Horrible team and staff. They're CON ARTISTS.

This morning a filling came out, so it seemed like a good time to see a dentist. I had an appointment with Harriman Family Dental, Harriman, NY, near where I live this morning. The office staff is great, and the dental hygienist was excellent; very thorough and professional. I was seen briefly by Dr. Rachel Wheaton, one of the dentists on staff. Dr. Wheaton recommended 4 new crowns, which surprised me since I had just been examined by my old dentist 6 months ago. One of the crowns recommended would address the hole in my tooth from the filling that came out this morning. There was no offer of a shorter term, less expensive solution for the problem that brought me to the Harriman Dental office; only a $1657 crown. I indicated that I couldn't do new crowns right now and left for home. I later called to speak with Dr. Wheaton, but she was at lunch. I asked for her to return my call. Later I received a call from the receptionist who said Dr. Wheaton asked me to return to the office for a "consultation" and did not want to do a "consultation" over the telephone. I asked the receptionist to confirm that the doctor was unwilling to do a repair on the tooth, and her reply through the receptionist was that I needed a crown, a repair would not be permanent, and she would not do a restoration. So I am left with a hole in my tooth and a sharp edge until I can afford a crown; and I am less than pleased that Dr. Wheaton would not call me to answer my question. Allan E. Harriman, NY

Unfortunately, my husband has not had the same luck. predetermination information had been request on two separate occasions from the insurance company and to date, nothing has been sent. This has been going back since 05.04.2022. A representative from the insurance company and I called twice while on three way and to our surprise, the receptionist hung up. Now we proceed to call a third time and the voicemail has been activated. My husband has been suffering for months and is in need of work, but it seems we will have to proceed with a new physician and start the process again. I have since filed a complaint with the board of health, the insurance company and BBB. **Update as of 08.09.2022** I was advised by the reception on 08.04.2022 that the office manager only goes into the office on Tuesday's. I left a message in hopes that I would receive a call, and to date I have not. I called the office today, TUESDAY 08.09.2022 and what a surprise, the office manager isn't in!! I was also advised that she does NOT return calls to patient's unless it is a Tuesday when she is in the office.

Dr. Narang, my…read moreregular dentist, was instrumental in getting this whole implant idea started and worked in partnership with Dr. Simpson in seeing it through. For a little over a year now, I've been going to Dr Simpson to have a synthetic tooth installed in my lower, right jaw. I had heard about such procedures before, but it always seemed rather extreme...until I started having chronic problems with one tooth, which culminated in a serious root infection. My dentist (Dr. Narang) suggested I have that tooth out and replace it with an implant. So I thought, OK, now is a good time to try an implant. My dentist recommended Dr. Simpson (an oral surgeon). Dr. Simpson checked the situation out and determined that I would be a good candidate for an implant. Dr. Simpson clearly explained the steps involved in the process. The process to have an implant is rather lengthy. The first step was to extract the old (original) tooth. That went without issue...and without pain. A good start! In fact, I experienced no pain during the entire process. [Note: the process will be slightly different for each person, depending on their circumstances.] After the tooth was removed, we had to wait some time (months) for the jaw to heal and be ready for the next step. Then the hole in my jaw was filled with bone fragments (don't ask where from), which would meld in with my jawbone in preparation for the next step. More waiting... Then the base for the implant was placed into my jaw. [Screwed in, actually, using what looked like a small ratchet wrench.] More waiting... Then, when everything looked good, I was sent back to my dentist to have the crown put on my new tooth stem and fastened into the base. More waiting... Inspected by both my dentist and Dr. Simpson and given the thumbs-up. My new tooth is now in place and feels right at home. No further problems!
