The people at Monroe are very disrespectful, especially the lady named Nrugu. She called me and scheduled the nursing entrance exam for me. After I passed the test, she called me three days later and told me that registration was closed. Then she tried to pressure me into enrolling in the Surgical Tech program instead. I was a student at Monroe University, and while they preach safety, an outside employee was able to enter my room and steal several items from me. The first incident occurred on Monday, August 11th. My mistake was not clearly stating that I would be staying overnight. Someone entered my room and stole my iPad. The police were called, and the iPad was eventually returned. On Tuesday, August 12th, someone entered my room again, likely as retaliation, and stole my shoes and, I believe, my clothes as well. That same Monday night, I sent an email to the school explaining that I needed an extension because of the theft and the ongoing investigation, which caused a delay in me traveling to Brooklyn. On Tuesday morning, around 11 a.m., the school called to inform me that the iPad had been returned. I told them I would be leaving Tuesday, and Mr. Denzel acknowledged this, telling me the iPad would be at Locust Hall. However, when I returned to my room later that night, my items were missing again. The police were called, and an incident report was filed. Fast forward a few weeks later, I had to contact the president of the school just to get a response about the refund for my stolen items. The next day, I was informed that they would not be issuing a refund. Do not, under any circumstances, send your children to this school, as they ignore emails for possible deniability and prefer to handle matters over the phone. read more

All the one star reviews are true! I have been in two other colleges that offer two year degrees and I transferred here to finish with a bachelors. It is not worth it! Go somewhere else because this place will only frustrate you and make you feel terrible! This school sucks and I can agree that after each class you feel like you lost brain cells and the student body does not have any common sense or accountability! The majority of the employees/professors are not good and incredibly rude especially the office staff and advisors. If your going to pay for an education and take the time to do it go somewhere that will actually educate you and help you after graduation! I am writing this review about Monroe's surgical tech program. overall the program is fairly good and the director is awesome. however this review is specifically for the A&P professor. he designs his test to ensure we fail. I'm so so tired of this and we spoke to the director about it and nothing. how can you tell me to study almost 300 questions for a 50 question test? how are we able to cap As and Bs in every other class but only Ds and C- in your class? the school needs to do something about this man. he finds pleasure in failing people and some of us really don't have the money to retake. we are planning to demonstrate because its now time for finals and we all sure we are going to fail. this is ridiculous!! read more

I applied to Monroe college for the masters in healthcare administration degree. I was dealing with someone by the name Jennifer Melbourne who handles all of the online programs affairs. She is very unpleasant and dismissive, in my experience. After I paid to have all my transcripts sent over, wrote a 3 page statement and took a writing assessment I was accepted into the program. Jennifer then sent me a link to make an appointment with financial aid. I clicked the link and it said financial aid was booked for the next 6 months and I could not make the appointment. I reached out to Jennifer and let her know that I was unable to get an appointment. She added financial aid to the email thread at which point I repeated myself and asked for an appointment. They both ignored my request 3 different times and kept pushing me to sign the financial aid paperwork. I submitted my entrance counseling and master promissory note as asked but did not feel comfortable signing the last few document until i had an appointment to discuss tuition, discuss loans, and any scholarships available to me. They ignored me and told me to just sign the papers. This was very suspicious and weird so I stopped replying. I received phone calls for weeks and decided I didn't want to go through with this school. I was reached out to by the director of online affairs Lisa B, who called me at 9:00am and i called her right back at 9:20am, left a voicemail and she didn't call me back all day, she called me the next day same time and i called back at 10am and left another voicemail saying I was home all day now and please call back at any point. She never called back. She then sent an email asking me what's going on and if I was feeling overwhelmed about the program, I explained the whole story via email and she never reached back out to me. This is BAD business. I was hoping she would have replied and apologized and helped me get an appointment but she didn't. I also want to mention that the director couldn't even answer a simple question as to if there were any internships associated with this program...which is a huge red flag for me. I would run far away from this school, and to make matters worse once they started acting unprofessional I did some research and found terrible reviews about this place. I wish i did it sooner. I now have to take a whole semester off because i put all my eggs in one basket instead of having options which is my fault but lesson learned!!! read more

I finished my undergrad at Monroe. My major was Computer Information Systems. I am now a graduate student at Fordham University. Is Monroe perfect? No. What is in life? Put the work in and you will find a rewarding experience here. Today is 23 June 2018 and I am now a graduate student at Fordham University. By July 4, 18 I will hand in my Capstone research and meet all requirements to graduate with a Master's of Science in cyber security. My foundation was built at Monroe College. I must it was a tough 2 yrs but I made it. Monroe isn't perfect but the help in every aspect is available for you. I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Public Health last year 2015. If you do your work, study and actually pay attention you will be just fine. The professor are very helpful and care. But if you don't care then what do u expect from them. This is a rip off, the admissions counselor had to lie to get me into Monroe college. He said they had premed major which they did NOT. The level of courses are very LOW, so CREDITS CAN NOT TRANSFER. The professors most likely don't have a degree because they curse and taught grossly vulgar material. It is a private, for profit school, so the good reviews can be fraud made by them. read more

This school is a joke. I wanted to apply for the sonography program and noone there knew what I was talking about. They directed me to so many different people that I ended up having to come to the school five different times. When I finally met with the correct person Dean Goldstein, he told me "You are not going to get into the program there is no way". Then he tried to fix his statement and say that there is a chance of getting in if i had good grades. I left there feeling so disencouraged. I am disgusted with this school. read more

Monroe College is definitely the institution to go to they treat you like family, while also giving you the freedom to stand on your own two feet. There is always help and resources at your finger tips the staff is very personable. Although the main complaints by peers is that the college is for profit so they can come off as being pricey but you receive a great education and the assistance you need not to sound cliche but you really get a bang for your buck at Monroe I would definitely recommend this college to my friends or family the culture that I experience personally is family class of 2017 I did all of my degree's from my associates to my masters at Monroe college can't complain loved my experience. read more

What is sad is that many of these professors come from CUNY so you are better off just going to CUNY and not paying Monroes extremely high tuition. It is not worth 20k plus a year even for the trimester advantage they are offering. I really like this College. The staff is very knowledgeable and are always willing to help. The professors are great and are always willing to go the extra mile for a student. When I grauted Monroe in 2009 with my BA I was very happy with the education that I received. Today my daughter is a student of Monroe College and I know she is getting the education that will take her places in the future. read more

Monroe college is exactly what they advertise "for-profit" institution the lack of respect the staff have for students and guardians of those who attend is unbelievable and makes it pretty clear they only want your money. I have had a few friends that "lived" on campus if you call it that and I've also have had the great displeasure in visiting, most of the dorm rooms are in run down places that are not vary well tended to. The student resident assistants run rampant with an iron fist of vindication that being said it is a dry campus (in every sense of the word) but have no fear if your looking for girls that range from 0-1 and an education that can be given tip you by a monkey, Monroe college is the place for you. I would not wish this place on my kids or my worst enemy. (well maybe my enemy) read more

As a former Professor at Monroe College I feel that the school has done a disservice to many of the students by creating an environment that fosters enabling students rather than empowering them. The students run to administration when they don't get their way with Professors and administration 9 out of 10 times sides with the students. Students are enrolled in online classes with no computers and then the Professors are expected to accommodate them. The graduation rate is high because the administration has created a "no child left behind culture" where students are pushed through and ill prepared for real world expectations. I believe the administration has good intentions and want to be helpful to students but they must realize that students will have a life post Monroe and the real world is not as kind. Let's not set great students and people up to fail by lowering the bar so its a win-win for everyone. read more

Possibly one of the worst colleges out there. The level of conversation during the class makes me feel as if I am getting dumber with every class. Some of the students do not realize that they are in college and the basic comprehension of the English language is thrown out the window. I am tempted to ask what the requirements to become a "professor" at this school is because the knowledge level of the faculty is a bit depressing and questionable. Terrible, terrible. They spend more money on trying to publicize this school than on making it a comfortable environment for students. The dorms I've lived in have had mice, roaches, centipedes, ant infestations, fly infestations, bed bugs, no heat in the winter for almost a whole month, the CAFETERIA HAS MICE AND ROACHES just walking next to the food like its not big deal. The dorms are disgusting there was vomit near my bed as soon as I moved in, holes in the wall, a broken television, there was a break in the dorm and security didnt even notify us, most of the dorm building are old and leaning. You will be lucky if you get a wifi signal I was a nursing student and had tons of work had to go to mcdonalds at 4 o'clock in the morning to actually have wifi to do my homework. The classes seem more like fifth grade material although I am a tutor and believe even fifth grade curriculum is more challenging, if you have any concerns you might as well keep it to yourself they DO NOT HELP...I would not recommend this school to anyone please I've only been here for 2 years and experienced so all these issues and more, it is not a good school, this is one of the schools i would say is just like a profit school they want your money people have difficulty finding a job after graduating. The "good" reviews you read elsewhere are not true 90% of the people from this school that I have spoken to don't even like the school, do yourself a favor and steer clear from MONROE COLLEGE, do what ever possible to avoid paths with school. read more
