I ordered a whole spinach-and-garlic pizza along with a Capri salad, water, and a ginger ale. The spinach and garlic sounded like exactly the kind of simple combination that should shine, but the pie was noticeably oily. By the time I settled into a slice, the excess oil had become the thing I noticed most, overshadowing what could have been a much better pizza. The salad was a pleasant companion to the meal, and the service was fine. Our server was fairly friendly, though nothing about the experience felt especially polished or memorable. What Frank's does have is convenience and character. Being right in Middletown makes it an easy neighborhood option, and I genuinely loved sitting in the booth and taking in the throwback feel of the place. You can almost imagine the dining room in its heyday, filled with regulars and families coming in for their favorite pie. I wanted the food to live up to that atmosphere. With a little more attention to the quality and preparation--particularly a lighter hand with the oil--the experience could be considerably better. They put them on the sub and they throw it in the oven until the cheese melts but the meatballs were cool in the inside.. the spaghetti sauce tasted like right out of the can it was not garlic there was no oregano no basil it was like right out of the can very bland the food has gotten very bland I've tried to give it several tries and I will not be going there again the food just isn't seasoned and it doesn't taste anything like Italian food anymore. when I came in, I waited a long time to get served a drink or a menu, so I picked up my own menu, grab my own silverware.
