Food here was excellent as usual. We really enjoy the atmosphere, it is really trendy and has more of a bar/nightlife feel than most Indian restaurants I go to. Our server was friendly but really busy on the night we went, so service was a bit spotty. I had a smoked old fashion which was tasty and delicious. We decided to split a bunch of things. I usually get the tandoori lamb while my husband loves the butter chicken. We also tried the achari paneer tikka which was beautifully spiced and the dahi kabab; made with yogurt, paneer and a masala of delicious spices. This is probably my new favourite dish. Prices are a bit on the high side, however well worth it for the atmosphere and the quality of the dishes. Even my husband, who really is a meatatarian gave a nod to both of the vegetarian dishes that hit the table. The papadums are always welcome as well. read more

This is our first time to Monsoon, and we chose to celebrate Valentine's Day here. Our first impression was the restaurant felt modern, and tastefully decorated. Really elegant and felt like an upscale Indian dining experience. We were greeted by a lovely and kind lady who checked in on us a few times throughout the evening to see if we were enjoying. She wasn't our server, so it was nice she was so kind. We suspect maybe an owner but not sure. Regardless, so friendly- she moved us to a booth even though there were only 2 of us. Our server took a significant amount of time to come and take our order, however they were super friendly and attentive once the first interaction was made. I'm going to attribute the delay to the fact that we were moved to a booth and perhaps the server didn't realize. This was easily made up for with how fast the actual food came out. It was very quick, and was very very tasty. I get Dal Makhani everywhere I go, and this has to be one of the best of this dish that I've ever had. Bold, flavourful, and a good amount of heat (we asked for spicy, and although we like it more spicy than this typically- the dish was far from bland and I didn't miss the additional chilies). We were offered chilies and pickled onions seasoned with masala as an accompaniment and my husband loved them. The chicken dish we tried was not hot, more mild-medium, however again, was not lacking in flavour. The staff also surprised us with a little dessert to share to end our date night. Very thoughtful. Our first valentines day as husband and wife, and we chose this place to celebrate the occasion, and we were not disappointed. Walked in to a very pleasant atmosphere. Classy with very tasteful decor. Lights not too dark where you couldn't see, but not too bright to keep it classy. We were greeted by a very nice lady who throughout the night kept checking if we were okay. She even offered to move us to a big booth to make sure we had a pleasant experience. After we were sat, it took a little bit before our server appeared. This normally would have removed a star from the rating however, how quickly after the order things came out definitely made up for that minor detail. I must say everything we ordered was excellent. The veggie appetizer flight was an excellent way to taste a variety of things. We asked for the food spicy, and it came out very flavourful, however the server must of sensed I like my heat so he brought me pickled onions and Chilli on the side and that was AMAZING in complimenting wuth the different flavors. My name is Nellie, I went to this restaurant with my family of 10 people this evening, We found the service given by Naresh and some other staff members was excellent. We found your staff in the kitchen and outside taking orders and serving the patrons are trained very well. The menu, service , ambiance were perfect, no room for criticism. We ordered fish, lamb biryani, beef curry, Bendi curry, chapathi, raitha and tea. All ordered dishes were very tasty. We love Indian food, so were quite excited when an acquaintance of mine highly recommended this restaurant. Everything is ordered a la carte, and our wonderful server Vivek made some excellent recommendations to us. He explained that everything on the menu is designed to be made same day, made to order, so the freshness of the ingredients can be preserved. We definitely noticed the difference. Every dish was flavourful, fresh, and mouthwateringly good. I'm a huge fan of biryanis, and their lamb biryani did not disappoint. Desert was excellent as well. They have a good selection of gluten free, vegan, and dairy free options. Will definitely be back. read more

I was very much looking forward to what I've been told is amazing food and service. I did not get the chance. I came into the bar section a couple (4) minutes before happy hour ended. I sat up at the bar only to watch my server stand in the kitchen and continue to chat. When she came out 6 minutes later.... Happy hour had ended. When I asked if it would still honoured for at least one order I was told NO..... Happy hour ends at 5. When I said I would go elsewhere I was told to have a nice day. (Was not rude... just matter of fact) I'm now eating Indian food from skip.... Probably not as good. I would have enjoyed some beers and a hockey game... unfortunately this server will miss a decent tip. In defence of the restaurant I was just called by a manager of the restaurant with an apology and offer of a small credit Which is appreciated. I may give this place another try. read more

Amazing food and amazing service. Also gluten friendly which was a big plus. They mark gluten free right on their menu but most of it is. They have a shared fryer but the tandoor is celiac safe. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a great ambiance. Definitely going back. read more

If you're in the mood for some Indian food I would definitely recommend coming here, I was really impressed with the quality of the food and that of the cocktails, The best old fashioned I've had to date (props to the bartender) with a beautifully crafted contemporary bar this place combines food and art impeccably well which brings in a whole new dining experience that you cannot find anywhere else. The staff were very friendly and courteous and maintained a level of professionalism and etiquette throughout the night 10/10 service. Coming back to the food they have a great variety of choices of might I say the Best Indian food I've had in Edmonton. This was my first time at Monsoon Bistro and Bar. I went with a group of 13 and I was very impressed with the overall impression my visit left. The staff were personable and gave great suggestions on menu choices. The food came quickly and was very good. There was a wide selection of choices. The dining room was tasteful, quiet and clean. When it came time to pay the bill, I was very happy with the total amount I spent for the quantity I received. I am looking forward to my next visit! read more
