Great local gem... I've been coming here for decades, and even though I've skied all over it's still one of my faves... It's got enough different terrain to keep our blue to double black skiers happy, and also our all-mountain snow boarder too. Great slope for teaching beginners on too... The lodge can be a headache when it's crowded and loud, but the bar is great, as is the fire pit areas outside the lodge and bar. The lifts are nothing special, but the lines are rarely long...most of the time even on weekends there is no line, especially before noon. It can get a bit more crowded with more local snowboarders as it gets into afternoon. Parking is close, and also has a convenient drppoff-pickup spot but you will need to navigate some stairs while carrying your stuff. The food in the lodge is pretty good and not as pricey as some other places, but the food in the bar is really great, worth splurging on! We've even made the trip up out of season when they have various events here. Summer water park is GREAT here, just small enough and laid out in a way that the kids can go do a few rides on their own and check back with mom and dad frequently without us having to follow them everywhere. However, it's a little colder up there, so for me it's gotta be a truly hot day...not that my kids care! read more

This resort was very fun. But, fun is not just what this review is on. While it was entertaining, it was also a bit dangerous. My family and I went snow tubing there and the escalator was hard to use. You had to come off at a specific place at a specific time or you'd miss it. Not to mention that the fence on the sides wasn't very helpful. Someone could easily fall with the only thing stopping them would be the rope. Many times as I was going up, I would see many people skiing and snow boarding fall. I only saw people helping the ones who fell. Now, to be fair, there were medics on call. But, there was this one pole with an orange tie on it that many people fell into. Also, while most of the employees were polite but some, had very bad attitudes. If you misunderstood something and didn't follow the directions properly, some of them would yell. One time, as I was going off the escalator, I walked off a little early. I was a little nervous and the reaction that I got was a scream, right near my face. This resort is very entertaining and amusing but, there are a few things I believe they should work on. read more

Happily sold us snow tubing tickets for whole family and when we walked through the snow for what seemed a quarter mile to the tubing hill, the line to get to the conveyor belts was one hour long. Got about 3 or four 20 second rides in the whole day. Attempted to get a refund right away and was refused. Horrible resort. Terribly managed. Awful parking. Avoid. read more

I must say that i have never been treated with such racism, like that of which we were treated at Montage Mountain! My African American family and I, went to Montage Mountain to Airboard, and after making private reservations to airboard (Having to pay for at least ten people) ALL DAY, the staff at the park including its managers, the sales rep Ben and all most all other staff refused our services and threaten to have us kicked off the resort simply for asking why they would not allow us the services we had already paid for! The manager was def racist and after minutes of us asking why, and being unable to come up with a fair answer he said we were being a nuisance, and he was revoking our tickets because of it! DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. THEY DON'T LIKE BLACK PEOPLE. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! BOYCOTT! Don't trust BEN, or anyone there. GET ALL agreements in writing! read more

We traveled to Montage Mountain as a last-minute decision to visit some family in the area. We were enticed by their children's carnival and thought it would be a good activity for our kids. I began skiing in 1987 and have snowboarded for about 25 years, so I have a good sense of the industry as I used to ride about 30-50 days a season, mostly in New England. First, the mountain and facilities were a pleasant surprise. I thought it was well-kept and nicely groomed. It reminded me of a nicer Mountain Creek. It's well laid out and actually bigger than expected, and there's also a water park for the summer. The lodge was pretty small and full but there were all the amenities and a restaurant/bar area. The big issue was the customer service. Our kids are young, and we wanted them to get some lessons so we called about a week in advance. I guess we should have made a decision based on the phone call CS, but figured it was probably just a one-off experience. Anyway, after playing phone tag, the woman with whom we spoke said everything was booked and there were no lessons available for either of our kids. She was not terribly pleasant or helpful and actually seemed put off by the call. We found a similar experience visiting the resort; most of the people with whom we spoke weren't at all helpful. When we got there, we went directly to the rental center to see what we should do. We were told there was a learn to ski area with a magic carpet. Perfect. We figured we'd get the kids out on skis and help them in that area, so we spent $131 on rentals and a ticket for our older daughter (our younger daughter qualified for a free ticket). We then proceeded over to the magic carpet area only to learn that it's closed to everyone unless you're in a lesson (which were all booked, remember?). The woman at the fence was completely unhelpful. We were trying to figure out what we should do with our two little kids, in their gear, and she wouldn't even take the time to explain where we might be able to take them. After waiting on line at the CS desk, I leaned that the only learn to ski area for people outside of lessons is an actual chair lift. Seriously? I can't think of a resort, big or small, that forces beginners on chair lifts. I asked about a lesson and she directed me over to the ski school. After waiting on line there, and some trying conversation, I found out there were lessons available, but I needed to being the receipt back for our rental and lift to purchase? So I went and found it and got in line again. The option was a private lesson at $145. Fine. At that point my kids had been standing around for an hour and I just wanted them to have a positive experience. We were asked to have their equipment checked out (that we rented from them) and it turns out their have both kids the wrong sized skis. So we re-outfitted them and then got them on the snow. Their instructor was great and helped make the day for them, but the hour-long private lasted only 45 minutes. So, for $276, our kids got to ski for 46 minutes. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd come back. Again, the facility was nice overall but most of the people we encountered were not helpful, and it wouldn't have taken much to help us out. read more

Me and my boyfriend skiid at montage mountain this weekend and we're disappointed to say the least its seems like most of the time we were in line or on the ski lifts rather than on the mountain the trails were limited and extremely short and pretty icey. Personally I hated the way the mountain wad set up and the trails sucked. I guess this is a good mountain for beginners and people learning how to ski. read more

Montage Mountain Live Nation Philadelphia Florida Georgia Line Florida Georgia Line Scranton I hope livenation, montage, and everyone else affiliated with this concert event sees this. We sat in bumper to bumper traffic for 2.5hrs 3 miles outside the venue and missed 75% of the concert! When we got inside the venue, we saw the thousands beyond thousands of people standing shoulder to shoulder; no room, no insurance of safety, no security guards, no service in the area to pull up our electronic tickets, no parking, complete CHAOS. Went to the box office at 9:30p to complain for money back and got no help! They explained to us that the last act was playing (of 3 or 4 total acts) so we didn't miss it! Are you serious?! Wouldn't give us a phone number or supervisor name to get in touch with to debate the matter. I will never ever patron montage or livenation ever again and will make sure every one I know knows of the experience we had tonight. $150 to miss the entire concert due to piss poor risk management, lack of oversight, lack of organization, etc., and that's a compliment! This event was solely to earn as much revenue as possible with absolutely no consideration for anything else. Shame on all of you for taking such advantage of us. If you can't handle a crowd of that size, don't allow an event to be run at such a capacity. That was a complete monstrosity and the WORST concert experience (or lack there of since we never saw any of it) of my life! read more

We stopped here on Sunday evening for the late night snow tubing (more like slushy). The actual tubing was just okay. What drops down the rating is the fact that the setup is just disorganized and the staff was not very helpful directing people, especially at the top of the hill. Also, there was a lot of mud and a pretty steep walk up to the people mover. Compared to Camel Back, this place is amateur for snow tubing at least. read more

We are absolutely in love with Montage Mountain! Runs are always well groomed - the staff is super hospitable and the ambiance is top notch w plenty of warming fires and family friendly events! Trails offer something for everyone - terrain pk greens blues blacks race course and of course Wht Lightning - it's very worthwhile if you're not going to a large resort up in NY VT. 1k ft vertical is tallest around these parts - Reasonably priced lift tix and food - 1/2 off apps wk days after 8.30. Due to location it's generally locals bcuz it's a bit of a drive from large populations - I've never considered it overcrowded and encourage you to try it - no I'm not affiliated but do really appreciate this place - it's a hidden Gem in coal town that you'll appreciate more when you realize you've spent 1/2 the $ and had just as much fun - Party on Garth! read more

Went to go tubing with several friends. Arrived and we were sold lift tickets to tube. When arriving at the tubing area one of the workers says "the slopes aren't good today". As we attempt to tube we are only making down the hill a third at a time, needing to stand up and walk to the end of the slope. One of the attendants had us utilize a different tube and it worked well only to be told by another attendant that we could not use that tube. We requested a refund at guest services and were made to fill out an incident report, then a refund request, only to be told there would be no refund given until a lengthy phone interview was done. When asking for a manager or supervisor we were told that there wasn't one on site. We fully intend to follow up until we are refunded and we will not be using or recommending montage mountain to anyone in the future. read more

Skied this weekend with my friends and WOW is all we had to say. The new bar is amazing and the food is not only good but reasonably priced. The conditions were amazing and the lifts were running smoothly and lines went fast. The slopes are so large that people were not on top of one another. Great atmosphere and amazing slopes for this side of the east coast. I would recommend to anyone! read more

Montage is a great family ski mountain. I have small kids and the mountain's scale is great for them. Not overwhelming. The base lodge has a fun vibe and great pizza. Not crowded at all. There has not been much natural snow this season, but the snow making/grooming did the job well. read more

A local favorite of mine. Always friendly and Ski Patrol is one of the best. Shuttle bus or just walk down the hill and your ready for some fun and good local skiing. The North Face is where to ski but the other trails are good for intermediate and beginner runs. Glad it's back to Montage Mountain. Come have a good time and night skiing too. read more

Overall one of if not the best in PA right up there with Elk Mountain. PROS- Challenging Terrain; White lightning probably the most difficult I've come across in PA. By no means for Beginners as you really could get killed if you don't know what you are doing. Lots of options however, and you can ski blues all the way down to double blacks etc. Bunny Trails located on right side of mountain for beginners so people can ski at there skill levels. Wide open Trails and plenty of snow. What I love about Montage is they are constantly running snow machines to build up a strong base of snow. I had just been skiing in Stowe weekend prior and ironically enough Montage had greater base than Stowe. Small Crowds; never feels congested. Most of people I came across were respectful of ski/snowboard etiquette. Very little to no wait at chair lifts Lodge is located at center of Mountain and is probably one of the best facilities i've come across. Reasonable prices, good food. CONS Slow Lifts- really isn't that big of a deal because with long trail runs it feels nice to have a break. Still faster lifts would help. Delay in Opening all trails - Not sure if it was because I was on weekday but there was a delay (maybe noon) before all trails were opened. Also lift that takes you to top was down so we had to hike up hill a bit to get to upper Track trail. Ticket Window Outside - not big deal but was pretty cold. They did have firepit which helped a bit but if there is long line could be problem. Just being picky. Snow Machines on - again not big deal and would rather have them on but can get chilly in some parts. However was often nice powder under the blowers so if you could brave the cold go for it. OVERALL love the mountain and I will be back. Seems to be an unknown gem as didn't see too much foot traffic. I've skied most of East Coast and Ironically enough have to say this was one of my favorites especially for the price ($50 is a steal...) Maybe just caught on good day as tons of powder but have to give Montage a 5 star rating. read more

Terrible experience!!!! They don't check your tickets so you can just walk right in and tube. They DO NOT check at all! I took my 3 year old daughter to the kiddie slope for tubing and there were parents just hogging the tubes, you wait in line but you don't get a turn bc no staff is there to say "hand it over to next in line" (honestly, it's a shame to have to tell a parent/ adult to do the right thing). I confronted a woman that did not share the tube, I told her I paid for a 3 hour session too and she said, " paid for what? Its free" so pretty much you can just walk up and tube at no cost bc no one checks. read more

It honestly pains me to give this place a low review because I have spent so many years skiing here, but their customer service is terrible. This new "activity" called air boarding wreaks havoc on the slopes. Multiple people in my party were mowed down after paying extra money to extend their lift ticket to closing. The extended lift ticket went to complete waste with no refund because "they can't warn people of an activity on the mountain" EVEN THOUGH THESE AIR BOARDERS HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHRRE THEY ARE GOING, but don't worry, I was assured they get lessons and it should be of no concern despite the fact that you can stand at the lodge and watch people get run over thought the window read more

Most of the reviews are for skiing- let me tell you about the water park! RUN AWAY!! 2 days after what we thought was a nice day, my son came down with many bacterial infections. Pink eye, throat infection, ear infection, bronchitis. The water park is the only place we went so had to be the water. And from what I now read about things that go on there, I have no doubt. I've never seen my son this sick and have spent $200.00 on dr so far. Reported it to Montage and of course they deny any wrong doing and delete all my posts to their face book page. There are many complaints about the water conditions there. I have even notified the Scranton Health Dept. read more

Skied at Montage this past Holiday weekend. Great mountain and the best choice for a Holiday weekend. Large wide open trails and you do not have to worry about putting your life in jeopardy with many skiers out of control and running into you. Plenty of snow and I have been following the live cams and it seems they make snow every night they can. Good value with more terrain than Big Boulder, Jack Frost, Shawnee and not the huge crowds of Camelback or Blue. If they ever get a high speed lift it will be the best. The food was really good and not as big as a rip-off as the others. Will definitely be back in the coming weeks! New owners are really doing a lot to make it an enjoyable place. read more

I've been coming here for my whole life and I've never had an experience like this. I went a few days ago with my family and it was pretty warm for the middle of February. The snow was sort of melting and freezing creating a very slick layer of ice. We had bought tickets for snow tubing that day. The wait was about 45 minutes for one ride, and my session was only 3 hours. While we were waiting we saw how the ice was really dangerous, as a woman slid off the side of the hill! But they continued to send people down. Adults and heavier people, including myself, were going extremely fast down the hill and they were making us put our feet down at the end. The first time I went, the woman next to me tried to put her legs down but she couldn't reach, so she put her arm out. Her arm got caught on something, bent the wrong way, and she had to get escorted off the mountain. It took them about a half hour to deal with that, which I understand because the woman was injured. After that we got back on line to try to go again, when a snowmobile pulled up and they told us that they were gonna try to get rid of the ice. They told us it was only gonna be about a half an hour, so we waited to try to get another one in before our session was over. After a half and hour we asked another worker and he said "no, this is probably gonna take an hour". RIDICULOUS. Afterwards we couldn't even get our money back for our wasted tickets. I wasted my whole day to go once down the hill that lasted only 5 seconds. First off all, if one person got hurt, you should've done something then and not waited for more people to get hurt. These are things you do before all of the people get there, NOT WHILE EVERYONE IS WAITING ON LINE!! I'm so disgusted with this, I've been coming here for 13 years and I've never had an issue with anything. The least they could've done was give us a refund read more

I have never had a worse experience while going to ski. I have known how to ski for over 9 years, I have been to every ski mountain and resort in the area however, Montage is by far the worst. The first few times I have been there, the snow was more ice than powder and they only had a few slopes open. A few days ago my boyfriend and I spent 80$ on tickets online to go skiing today. We checked the website to see if they were open and we called to double check, they told us that everything was open and we were all good to ski there today. My boyfriend and I then drive an hour and 30 minuets and got all of our equipment on in the parking lot before a worker approached us and informed us that they were in fact closed today. We went into the customer service building and tried to get a refund for our tickets but the worker said he couldn't do anything for us. He gave us an email and told us we MIGHT be able to get our money back for the tickets they sold us on the day they were closed. read more

Love boarding up at Montage! Spend almost all of my weekends up at montage and I never get sick of it. The trail conditions are always great. Airboarding is also super cool as it is something that is unusual for this area. Cant wait for a great rest of the season! read more

I'm writing this review because I have tried to reach out to the park twice on their home page/contact us with no response from them. My grand-daughter (3yrs old) and I were there a couple of weeks ago. I noticed several adults with no bands on. I went to customer service and asked and they said everyone has a band. Apparently, no one is checking. I explained one gentleman was in the kiddie pool with an older boy running and chasing him with no bands on. I watched as they left, going up through the tiki bar and out. The teenagers at the desk explained to me that the bar is open to the public which is right above the kiddie pool. I'm ok with a bar & restaurant being there. My problem is no one is monitoring this happening. When I asked the lifeguard if there was a height limit in the kiddie pool, she said no. Do they really want teenagers in with toddlers? I have season passes, which I'm not sure will do again. I'm writing this so other parents/grand-parents are aware of this policy and take extra precautions when at the kiddie pool. I'm going today for princess day and hope to see some policy changes and also more chairs like all the other reviews. read more

My family and i had a horrible experience at Montage Water Park today. Upper management, and the very people that are in charge of the business, showed a complete lack of respect for their customers earlier today. They let customers, and their children sit outside, while they were trying to make a decision on whether to close the park for inclement weather. They never made an announcement over their PA system, or informed a lifeguard, or another team member, to go outside and walk around, and let customers know that they were closing. Instead, the very people in charge of running the business, were found inside the food court , feeding their faces with food, while customers and their children, were outside wondering if a decision to close had been made. Very poor management skills on display today. If you are going to run a business, you first have to show some respect for your customers. Do not let them sit outside wondering what is going on. You show your customers, as well as your employees, that you can run a business in the correct way. Please go to school for better management skills, or at least use this feedback to change the way you conduct your business, when inclement weather strikes, by informing your loyal customers of what is going on. Please do not let them sit outside, having to come to you. read more

This review pertains only to the snowtubing at Montage Mountain. I concur with the previous reviewers who noted the dangerous and unorganized nature of snowtubing at this location. My husband and I brought our niece (8) and nephew (6) to go tubing at Montage last week. A complete lack of signage makes it unclear where you should line up, which tubes you can use on which of the two tubing slopes (one large and one smaller for young children), how to stop at the bottom, etc. Our niece and nephew did not want to ride by themselves, so we took the double tubes and headed to the larger of the two slopes. To get to the larger slope, you have to go past the exit point for the smaller slope. Apparently, you can only ride doubles on the smaller slope. However, there was no sign to this effect, nor did the staff member working at the small slope exit point let us know this when he saw us continuing to the larger slope with double tubes. As this was our first time snowtubing at Montage, we had no idea about this restriction. This resulted in a chilly, 20-minute wait at the top of the larger slope while we waited for someone on the staff to bring us single tubes. This incident was also problematic because the kids were a bit scared of riding on their own. Once we were ready to head down the slope, we were not provided with any tips on how to proceed, when to go, nor the fact that we would have to stop ourselves at the bottom of the mountain using our feet. I've never been to a snowtubing place where they did not build in enough end time to coast to a safe, complete stop. The staff at the bottom of the hill did instruct us to put our feet down--frantically, after we were about a second away from already hitting the plush wall. As a result, I dug my feet down very quickly and jammed my knee. (Luckily, the kids were fine!) Another safety pitfall when snowtubing at Montage is that there is ice everywhere. I am unsure why they would not put some salt down or do something else to alleviate this issue in the areas where the snow tubes are not running, but adults and children alike were falling left and right. Given the lack of organization, the unprofessional staff, the dangerous conditions, and the considerable cost per child, parents would be much better off finding a friend with some hilly property and snowtubing on their own rather than taking their kids to Montage. While there is always a potential for injury when snowtubing, all of the above issues at Montage make it likelier than usual. We were very disappointed with this experience and would not recommend Montage for snowtubing to anyone in or visiting NEPA. (I'm unsure if Elk, Camelback, or somewhere else has snowtubing, but you should look at these possibilities rather than try Montage.) read more
