Our family just returned from an unforgettable Spring Break at Kalahari Resorts Poconos, and I can't emphasize enough how incredible our experience was! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that felt both family-friendly and tailored to adults. The water park was a huge hit with our two girls, offering a wide array of slides that catered to all ages. Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. The array of jacuzzis was another bonus, with both family-friendly and 21-and-over options. Overall, our stay at Kalahari Resort Poconos was filled with fun and memorable moments. If you're looking for a place that offers a perfect blend of excitement and comfort, this is the spot!

CODE BROWN it floated by my ear without notice. the staff did not warn anybody in the pool. I wasn't even aware until I saw a biohazard bin and turned my head. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

Dozens of flags left out in the rain all weekend, day and night. A small thing, but symptomatic of the thoughtlessness.

Hope you like those SNL skits about the font Papyrus, because that's pretty much where their creativity maxes out here. *Everything* seems made to milk you for money. Awful room layout. Awful, too-small-for-the-bed sheets. Thin walls. Cafeteria-level food. Terrible layout where you will constantly be walking LONG stretches. LONG waits for the only two elevators running. Frustrating that they shut down elevators randomly while lines grow of frustrated parents and impatient kids. Lobby is completely mobbed after their rates for the water park goes down in the evening, blocking everything. There are so many bad decisions made here, from the structure to the day to day, but it isn't even worth detailing everything. Don't go here. And a small thing: unfortunately, this Memorial Day weekend has been rainy and foggy Sat & Sun. But this place had dozens of flags out in the rain all day and night. Just another sign of the thoughtlessness of this place.

It's always a good time for the kids. They have a ton of stuff for younger kids which is a plus for me. There's plenty of options for eating as well. Parking a challenge if it's busy, but at least they don't try to charge you an overnight parking fee like great wolf does now. Black Friday coming up always a great time to book your stay. Usually 30% off Kalahari In!

So to update...they went cashless. They also added a human crane, indoor go kart (Thursdays) and a 7D theater. 2 nights max is all you need. The rooms are clean. There is a new restaurant that specializes in Mac N cheese. I gave 3 stars this time because security staff is really not present around in the late evening hours and there were many people running up and down the hallways and slamming of doors. There is zero signage to remind people to have better manners.

We keep coming back because the kids enjoy the water park and rides. Not sure if it was the shampoo/body wash, the bed or the water park water but I did not sleep well. It does not help that on the 3rd fl the water flow was so bad it was like taking a shower under trickling water where you never feel clean no longer how long you stand under the shower. We stayed two nights and on the second night our room phone rang in the middle of the night. Neither nights were a great sleep, which led to a poor overall experience for me at the park.

Beautiful Resort. We were here celebrating my Birthday which was April 13th. The same day as the event. So I was super excited! We traveled all the way from Maryland and it didn't disappoint. We were here for the Wine & Food festival. We purchased VIP tickets and it was so worth it! Our tickets included valet parking. One hour early entry with a spectacular brunch & a swag bag & wine glass. We really enjoyed this event. Food & drinks, entertainment was on point. We didn't stay at the resort but it was beautiful. We stayed in town for the weekend and we both felt like this was well worth the trip. Enjoyed all the entertainment & vendors as well. I would definitely do this again. I hear this is done annually. I look forward to attending next year's event!!

We had to go to kalahari poconos for a dance competition and had to stay for 5 nights. When we checked into the room Sunday, I had to kill 3 flies. Monday morning I woke up to find ants all over the couch and wall and then more by the sink area. I was reaching out to the desk about the ant situation when my 6 year old son who was still in bed, said there was a bug In the bed. You can imagine my disgust when I looked and it was in fact a BED BUG! I immediately freaked out and called the desk who said they would send a manager up. They did not. They sent up a facilities guy instead (who was very nice...but we wanted a manager). He confirmed it was a bed bug...a rather large one at that. He said they would need to "heat treat" the clothing, luggage, teddy bears, etc. and would need to move our room. My daughter had to be downstairs competing within the hour so it was a mad rush to pack up our room. My husband went with the facilities guy to look at a new room on the 3rd floor. Well what do you know....more flies flying around!!! My husband said this was unacceptable and again requested a manager. At that point the facilities guy (againnnnn no management) brought my husband to the presidential suite which was the least they could do at this point. Where he told my husband there's "special devices" that detect bed bugs in these rooms. Great. We threw our stuff in there and headed to the dance competition. When we arrived back in the new room around 1:30pm, we found our luggage back in the room. When we opened it...we found that my husband and kids luggage was in balls and their bathing suits still wet from the day before. And my suitcase didn't look touched. So I'm unsure what kind of "heat treatment" was even done. At this point we were even more upset and went to the desk so my husband could speak with management in person. It was a fight to get money back for Sunday and Monday but they reluctantly did. My kids wouldn't sleep under the covers for the remainder of the stay- who could blame them. The service for the hotel in general is a 2/10. The employees are severely lacking in customer service skills from management all the way do waitstaff. Our waitress at Cinco Ninos Just watched us clean up a spill from one of the kids and then eventually went and grabbed more napkins and just continued our order- didn't clean up the floor or anything. Service is very slow here as well so make sure you bring a lot of patience. And now after the week we had, we have to sit at the laundromat so we don't bring any bugs into our own homes. bottom line...MAKE SURE YOU CHECK EVERYTHING IN THOSE ROOMS!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ask the Community - Kalahari

I want to bring our own life vest next trip. Do the lifeguards inspect the vests if they suspect they aren't coast guard approved?

It's been hit or miss. We've been to Kalahari since 2019. We started out with our own floaties - no issues. On occasion the life guards asked us to switch the kids to the waterpark's life vests.

My son will be 9 months old when we visit any recommendations for things we should bring or avoid?

We just went with a 2yr old. Not 9 but things to know. To get to the pool/Waterpark you need to go…

Do they have pack n plays or cribs?

Yes, you just have to request it first. Make sure to bring a crib sheet as sometimes they will have one or the other.

What bar (if any) are open late?

Do you have to pay for a locker in the locker room and if so how much would that cost a family of 3?

Yes, the lockers cost money. I don't know the prices as we didn't use them

    Is there a Continental breakfast?

There is a coffee shop that serves starbucks and has buns/pastries. There is also a full assortment of a buffet breakfast (not cheep)

Do you u have to stay at the Kalahari resort to get in the water park?

No, you can buy day passes

Why are the rooms 900+ per night?

I paid $540 (tax included) in Nov 2020 for a 2 bedroom suite and all access to the park for 1 night. I think we should assume as more people are willing to go away, they will try to make up for the money the lost during the pandemic. That price is…

How is the park during this Pandemic ? anything to worry about with kids not being able to get vaccine?

You are required to wear masks everywhere but in the water park. There is a risk, it's up to your comfortability.

Do you think it's safe to come now? What precautions are they taking to keep you safe?

I put down a 300 dollar deposit and when I get to the resort I will pay another 360, is there anymore expenses I should be aware of when I get to the desk?

Only if you *choose* ad-ons once you get there. For example - you can purchase insurance for your wristbands I believe or If they get lost you have to pay a fee for a replacement one. Other than those type of things there are no other “fees” added.

Do they have babysitting on premises?

No I am pretty sure they do not.

    Is there a subway?

    No. There is no subway

Any good restaurants close to Kalahari poconos?

We went to Mi Casa- really good Mexican food and only 10 minutes away.

Are the bunk beds a twin size?

    Yes they are twin

Two questions... 1. Are there any restaurants nearby that aren't inside the resort?…

Yes. There are a few about 10 minutes away.

How busy is the park in PA during presidents week? feb 18-24?

    VERY!

How Big are the fridges in the family suite? I'm going to bring a half gallon of milk for coffee and tea and just wondering if the Half Gallon will fit in the fridges okay. We will have a family suite.

You will have plenty of space for that. They have mini fridges in the rooms without a freezer section. You will save tons of cash by bringing your own breakfast and lunch.

Do they have coffee makers in the rooms?

No they do not, not anymore highly disappointed.

Hi my daughter is 19 months is there stuff for her to do here?

This place is designed to be geared more towards the age of kids where they're able to walk around, wait in line for slides, go down slides alone, etc. However there is a "kitty pool" section, not terribly big in my opinion, where she can sit and…

When the staff is "performing" in the main area it's too loud. Those of us who choose not to participate should not have to weave in and out of people to access the rest of the space. Walk ways should always remain clear. No yoga mats, no dance parties in the walk ways. More staff needed to run water slides. One guy was running back and forth between slides causing huge delay. Lastly, adult supervision should be required in the arcade. A child was screaming so loud on the vr ride that my family opted to leave because it was that bad. No staff addressed it and no parent present to correct it.

The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting unless you went into the ski lodge so definitely wear shoes around if you can. There was plenty of chairs available and a lot of them were shaded by giant umbrellas, luckily the day we went it was mostly cloudy. There are a decent amount of slides, an Olympic sized pool, a wave pool and 2 kids areas. One was more toddler-friendly and the other was definitely geared towards kids a little older but half of the slides on it were closed. Multiple lifeguards at every slide or pool which was nice. Lots of life jackets available in many sizes. Water was a bit cold as it's not heated at all. Food options were a bit limited, possibly because it was a Monday. The main area had a couple of food trucks with mac and cheese, fries or tacos and a Belgian waffle stand. You got a lot of food for not a bad price, but wish there were some more options. Would definitely recommend going on a weekday though as weekends likely get very busy. Would definitely recommend coming here for a good summer day trip!

We stayed in Room 10 which features a king size bed and a large soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was sizable. We always felt like there was a lot of space to unwind and relax when we were in our room. We were offered the Fall menu when we were there. On day 1 I had the apple crumble French toast (AMAZING) and I'm not even a big French toast guy. Your table has fresh orange juice, water, and coffee/tea when you come down and get seated. Loved this. On day 2 I had the traditional breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was friendly and accommodating - as expected from a well run B&B. We were on site for a small gathering of gamer friends and so I also tried some of their offerings in the small cafe. I tried Italian wedding soup for lunch and got several hot tea drinks. All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the most visitor-focused B&B we've had the pleasure of staying in. It sounds obvious to say that, but it his place really puts your money to work to make you enjoy your stay.
