So to update...they went cashless. They also added a human crane, indoor go kart (Thursdays) and a 7D theater. 2 nights max is all you need. The rooms are clean. There is a new restaurant that specializes in Mac N cheese. I gave 3 stars this time because security staff is really not present around in the late evening hours and there were many people running up and down the hallways and slamming of doors. There is zero signage to remind people to have better manners.

It's always a good time for the kids. They have a ton of stuff for younger kids which is a plus for me. There's plenty of options for eating as well. Parking a challenge if it's busy, but at least they don't try to charge you an overnight parking fee like great wolf does now. Black Friday coming up always a great time to book your stay. Usually 30% off Kalahari In!

We keep coming back because the kids enjoy the water park and rides. Not sure if it was the shampoo/body wash, the bed or the water park water but I did not sleep well. It does not help that on the 3rd fl the water flow was so bad it was like taking a shower under trickling water where you never feel clean no longer how long you stand under the shower. We stayed two nights and on the second night our room phone rang in the middle of the night. Neither nights were a great sleep, which led to a poor overall experience for me at the park.

Beautiful Resort. We were here celebrating my Birthday which was April 13th. The same day as the event. So I was super excited! We traveled all the way from Maryland and it didn't disappoint. We were here for the Wine & Food festival. We purchased VIP tickets and it was so worth it! Our tickets included valet parking. One hour early entry with a spectacular brunch & a swag bag & wine glass. We really enjoyed this event. Food & drinks, entertainment was on point. We didn't stay at the resort but it was beautiful. We stayed in town for the weekend and we both felt like this was well worth the trip. Enjoyed all the entertainment & vendors as well. I would definitely do this again. I hear this is done annually. I look forward to attending next year's event!!

The room was clean and comfortable. The waterpark is huge. Lots of dining options. We had a great time. I was disappointed that a section of slides was not running. There were 4 slides we couldn't do. Nothing on the website said they would be shut down. For breakfast we purchased the buffet package but due to low occupancy, we had to use our vouchers at a different restaurant. It was fine though because we were allowed to order off the menu as if it were a buffet. All the food was delicious, alcoholic drinks are tasty but very expensive. Overall, I had a good experience and would come back.

Huge waterpark!!!! Many hotel room options, clean, with lots of eatery options! Drinks both at the waterpark and at dining establishments are great. A bit pricey but not bad. Will come again-not bad. Close to home also-less than 2 hours. Good customer service and sincerely not bad at all.

We've came here twice last year and both times were great! We had so much fun we made it a group trip with friends and our kids had the best time together! My son is autistic and the waterpark is thoughtfully designed so there are swings, smaller slides, & a calmer (kid) area and the other larger attractions are on the other side. The rooms were clean and comfortable & overall we had a great time! Super affordable as well and we love that the waterpark is included with the room price! Highly recommend

I came here to celebrate my niece's birthday w/ my sis, her bf,my other niece,& her friend. I won a contest for a free room. Score!!!! Check-in was delightful except for a woman that was rude. She said to me,"you don't want to use the self check-in kiosk" but she said it like I was slow. I told her no I have a voucher. Anyhoot, Alexandra was very welcoming & made the check-in process easy & breezy! I was just getting my water passes for now(b/c check-in is @3pm but you can go to the water park @10am). Every room comes w/ free water passes. Depending on the size of the room, that's how many passes you get. I got 4 water park passes for 2 queen size beds & a pullout couch. To my surprise,Alexandra had a room ready for me! I was stoked b/c I got to drop off my things off in the room. My sister had some issue w/ the water park ticket attendant. I got to the water park & grabbed towels for all of us. I went to the bigger basketball pool(you get to shoot hoops in the water). I was trying to please my niece but who doesn't love basketball. Then, I got nippy so I headed to the hot tub. There was so much chloride in that hot tub it made me choke. It stained my bathing suit which was a bummer. I couldn't even hardly breathe. Please if anyone reads this from Kalahari that is unsafe having so much chloride. Please fix it! It wasn't just that day b/c I heard numerous people complaining. I should have told a staff member. That was a bummer b/c the hot tub is my favorite place to be where I visit. There's also a hot tub by the bar which is cool. You get to sip on your drink while enjoying the hot tub. We (my 2 nieces & their friend)headed to one of the family rides (barreling baboon). The water ride staff was very nice!I had so much fun on that ride! If you like thrills then you def will love this ride! The room(I forgot to take pics unfortunately, I was having too much fun) was spotless & so pretty! There was art on the wall & the beds/pillows were so cozy!

I came to the kalahari resort in the poconos for a conference and was pleasantly delighted at the amount of amenities and services available here. It truly is a resort and you won't need to leave your room at all. They have a massive water park that has slides and adult only areas, 3 restaurants, a couple markets, bars both inside and outside the water park, gift shops, a really huge arcade that's great for people of all ages, and much more. They also donate proceeds to a worthy cause providing water to certain areas in Africa.

So annoying that I had trouble redeeming a voucher for 2 admissions to the water park for two teenagers that were joining us just for the water park while my sister was getting our room. As I waiting on the long line upstairs a worker talked to me in a tone that made me feel stupid asking "what's the matter the kiosks are all not working?" I say I'm redeeming a voucher, she says oh and carries on. When I get to the person at the booth the say I need to go downstairs, as I do. Downstairs the lady asks if I made reservations to redeem , I say I didn't know I had to? She goes in an office and comes back and says she can do it. Then says I'll have to have the kids present because people been selling them. I was so offended, and after the big inconvenience I had, I didn't want to go back up and down and wait on line again, so I tell her just put them on me and my boyfriend because I rather not be inconvenienced. I needed my sister every time I had to go in our room. It took the joy out of my stay.

Average experience. The room was spacious but lacked basic modern features such as a Bible, pen and notepad, usb plugs, luggage stand, hairdryer, etc. The atmosphere and decor was beautifully laid out, but it lacks warmth in hospitality. The facility is cashless which necessitates less available staff to assist with things. As an adult, I'm not blown away bas d on the financial aspect. I feel prices are overly inflated for an average experience at best. ($7 for dusty water bottles in the room, handprints on the window, dust on the table.) The conference experience, lobby area, well maintained common area bathrooms, and activity options are good but the room is slightly disappointing. Would I come here as a personal choice in the future or recommend it to others? Probably not. Would I bring my kids here for a special occasion? Maybe- if it had a special occasion and it was requested. Other than that- just meh.

I want to bring our own life vest next trip. Do the lifeguards inspect the vests if they suspect they aren't coast guard approved?

It's been hit or miss. We've been to Kalahari since 2019. We started out with our own floaties - no issues. On occasion the life guards asked us to switch the kids to the waterpark's life vests.

My son will be 9 months old when we visit any recommendations for things we should bring or avoid?

Do they have pack n plays or cribs?

Yes, you just have to request it first. Make sure to bring a crib sheet as sometimes they will have one or the other.

What bar (if any) are open late?

Do you have to pay for a locker in the locker room and if so how much would that cost a family of 3?

Yes, the lockers cost money. I don't know the prices as we didn't use them

    Is there a Continental breakfast?

There is a coffee shop that serves starbucks and has buns/pastries. There is also a full assortment of a buffet breakfast (not cheep)

Do you u have to stay at the Kalahari resort to get in the water park?

No, you can buy day passes

Why are the rooms 900+ per night?

I paid $540 (tax included) in Nov 2020 for a 2 bedroom suite and all access to the park for 1 night. I think we should assume as more people are willing to go away, they will try to make up for the money the lost during the pandemic. That price is… Read more

How is the park during this Pandemic ? anything to worry about with kids not being able to get vaccine?

You are required to wear masks everywhere but in the water park. There is a risk, it's up to your comfortability.

Do you think it's safe to come now? What precautions are they taking to keep you safe?

I put down a 300 dollar deposit and when I get to the resort I will pay another 360, is there anymore expenses I should be aware of when I get to the desk?

Only if you *choose* ad-ons once you get there. For example - you can purchase insurance for your wristbands I believe or If they get lost you have to pay a fee for a replacement one. Other than those type of things there are no other “fees” added.

Do they have babysitting on premises?

No I am pretty sure they do not.

    Is there a subway?

    No. There is no subway

Any good restaurants close to Kalahari poconos?

We went to Mi Casa- really good Mexican food and only 10 minutes away.

Are the bunk beds a twin size?

    Yes they are twin

Two questions... 1. Are there any restaurants nearby that aren't inside the resort?…

Yes. There are a few about 10 minutes away.

How busy is the park in PA during presidents week? feb 18-24?

    VERY!

How Big are the fridges in the family suite? I'm going to bring a half gallon of milk for coffee and tea and just wondering if the Half Gallon will fit in the fridges okay. We will have a family suite.

You will have plenty of space for that. They have mini fridges in the rooms without a freezer section. You will save tons of cash by bringing your own breakfast and lunch.

Do they have coffee makers in the rooms?

No they do not, not anymore highly disappointed.

Hi my daughter is 19 months is there stuff for her to do here?

We stayed in Room 10 which features a king size bed and a large soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was sizable. We always felt like there was a lot of space to unwind and relax when we were in our room. We were offered the Fall menu when we were there. On day 1 I had the apple crumble French toast (AMAZING) and I'm not even a big French toast guy. Your table has fresh orange juice, water, and coffee/tea when you come down and get seated. Loved this. On day 2 I had the traditional breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was friendly and accommodating - as expected from a well run B&B. We were on site for a small gathering of gamer friends and so I also tried some of their offerings in the small cafe. I tried Italian wedding soup for lunch and got several hot tea drinks. All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Arrival was a bit rough as the valet lanes were completely blocked by large buses. Instead of being helpful or explaining anything, the valet was rude and told us we couldn't leave our car parked in the entry/departure lane. We were simply looking for a place to allow the bellhop to offload our vehicle but no one explained where we were meant to go. Note that the valet is complimentary which is nice. Free self park is also available on the casino lot. Luckily the check in was smooth and the folks at the desk were pleasant. On room entry, we found the room to be clean and spacious. The bathroom was especially nice given its generous size and ample stock of toiletries. The beds were comfortable as well. Drawbacks in the room include lack of mini fridge and microwave. They will provide one on request, but charge $25/day. A bit steep. The room was also frigid. When we arrived, the AC was set to 63 degrees. We of course turned it up but after each housekeeper cleaned, the thermostat was set back to sub zero temps! Final drawback was that the room did have faint odors of cigarettes despite being a non smoking room. It became less noticeable the longer we were in the room but never quite dissipated. Our favorite thing about the hotel itself was the lovely golf course view from our room and the onsite hiking trail. The trail is really lovely and well kept. It runs alongside a stream and is set back from the road nestled in the loveliest trees. So beautiful this time of year with the changing foliage. I wouldn't be opposed to future stays but would likely explore some other options in the Poconos first. The onsite restaurants were letdowns in our opinion but we did enjoy some offsite eateries nearby. I would call this an above average experience. Probably best for those folk who want to enjoy the casino!

Booking online was easy, and check-in was simple--we just stopped by Frogtown Chophouse to pick up our keys and finished the paperwork the next morning. Our cottage was clean, in good repair, and surprisingly quiet given that the restaurant is on the property. The space is set up well for a couple or small family: a bedroom with a queen bed, a living room with a queen sleeper sofa, a small kitchenette (fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker), and even a propane fireplace that was perfect for chilly September evenings. While the fixtures and linens were a little dated, everything was tidy and comfortable, and the unit could easily sleep four. The only real downside was the low water pressure in the shower--not ideal, but not a deal-breaker either. At just over $500 for two nights, we felt it was a fair investment for the experience. The on-site restaurant, Frogtown Chophouse, is highly rated, and we enjoyed stopping in for cocktails one evening. The bartender gave us excellent local recommendations that added to our trip. We arrived Friday afternoon (October 11 2024) and stayed for three nights. This place is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the Pocono Mountains. When we arrived to check in, Chuck was there to greet us. He is a wonderful, welcoming gentleman. He gave us literature about things to do and happily answered our questions. Our room with its queen sized bed and adjoining sitting area was clean and comfy. We appreciated the small refrigerator and microwave to store and warm up our late night snacks. One tv in each room made it easy for one of us to nap and the other to "veg" out, if we wanted to! It's true the front desk is not manned twenty four hours, but you are given a number to contact in case of an emergency. And the guests are asked to observe quiet time between 10pm and 8am. This worked for us. I didn't miss the hundred room hotel with potential all night parties next door. After a day full of fun Fall festivities...quiet, peaceful and cozy is just what we needed. We are certain to visit again, perhaps in the spring or summer season. But definitely, most definitely again with the changing of the leaves.

There is so much to mention, I'll just make a list; 1 The Lodge, the rooms, the common area, the spa- The actual building/facility is so well kept, clean, inviting, good ambiance and vibes. You are greeted by staff when you arrive, who park your car ,escort you in, take your bags, etc. The lobby is so inviting, a gourmet snack or drink will be offered to you upon arrival. The guest rooms are big so peacefully decorated clean and modern. 2 The Grounds, beautifully maintained open space; a lake for boating, birding talks, bike riding, axe throwing, group hikes, wine tasting, garden demonstrations, outdoor exercise classes. there is an exstensive garden that grows produce for the chefs menu. 3 The Restaurant, wonderful selection of food and drinks, live music. Make a reservation ahead of time to get your table and time. 4 The Activities (included in the price), check out their website, classes are listed ahead of time, and you should sign up for them before your stay. Here's the ones we did; kombucha making, painting, fire making ,yoga, birding, axe throwing, wine tasting, cooking demo, Bosu Ball, Zumba, live music, sleep therapy, veg garden lecture, wood working. 0 stars for housekeeping -- they didn't notice our original shower was broken, they didn't clean…read morethe shower when we requested it when the floor was wet (because the shower curtains are very short). This was by far the laziest housekeeping people we've ever encountered in our lives -- instead of taking the requested dirty towels away and replacing them, they left everything on the ground and just dumped a pile of towels on the sink. Additionally, they barely made the beds -- the sofa bed was ignored while the main mattress' sheets were all touching the ground. Only the kids bunks got remade properly. We passed other rooms and it looked like they actually made the beds, so we probably got assigned the world's laziest person. Food: buffet food is meh. Restaurant food a step up. Stick with dunkin' for breakfast. Ice cream not bad, soft serve is large portions. Mirror maze was basically all broken. Only 2 things really worked when we went in, by the next day only one worked. Pay dirt (mining gemstones/fossils) was a high value activity for my kids - extra worth when you have the 25% discount. Water park is tiny and cold (there's a few small hot tubs), but has a lazy river; slushies standard ICEE brand, mini golf is sad (only like 7 holes maybe). Kids had a ton of fun at the candlestick bowling -- there's a bunch of game modes to try. Only worth if you get the unlimited. Magiquest was 4-6 hours of running around fun and defeating monsters. Wands and attachments are all upcharges from standard. Mostly can only access up and down with elevators so when one is out of order it takes forever. We didn't experience anything outdoors bc of rain.

This experience was pretty much what I expected it to be during Christmas week - overcrowded. Now…read morethat we've got that out of the way, I will say that this is something fun and different to do. Especially when it's freezing outside and you need a way to keep your kids occupied. The hotel is actually smaller and easier to navigate than I had expected. It's only 3 floors, so even though elevators tend to have a wait you can use the stairs to get around which is nice. It's also a short walk from rooms to activities and restaurants. Things I loved - + The cozy lobby with a roaring fireplace and gorgeous Christmas decor + The kids nook in the room that had bunk beds and a tv + The kiddie slide area at the pool + The gift shop which had a lot of great toys, a build a bear and a candy store + That the pool area has a bar. + Fun activities outside of the pool like bowling, arcade, mini golf and the magic quest scavenger hunt + Dunkin' Donuts + A cute dance party for the kids at night in the lobby Things that were meh - + The pool area was so unkempt. Chairs are packed in on top of each other. Staff needs to do a better job of clearing out old towels, life vests and garbage from chairs. It's gross to have to walk by the same old pizza box for hours. Staff can easily do better with this. + I wish they had more activities on a Saturday morning. We saw a schedule that had morning activities on some other days, like a meet and greet with the wolf and yoga. Surprised to see nothing on a Saturday. I also wish the pool opened at 8 instead of 10! + Fireside restaurant. Mediocre food and high prices are definitely not surprising here though. Overall - something fun and different, and definitely worth checking out for a change of scenery. But if you can swing going during a quiet week I'd definitely encourage to avoid crowds.

Awful experience from every point: 1) Check in took forever…read morebecause only 2 employees were working on the check-in. Keep in mind, it is Memorial day weekend and they can predict the volume of people. 2) Waterpark had a pool and the main kids area closed. Not much to do and see there otherwise. Also, the waterpark itself is old and need a lot of job done. You can see how everything is old and rust is everywhere. 3) We got tickets to the Magician show. Noone from the employees in the hotel or phone attendants could clearly communicate where to go. No sighs on where the show is. We missed part of it. I guess to print and distribute the maps to the ticket holders were never an idea that came to the organizers or at least to put it in the wall on the lobby, so people can see. It is called go and figure and good luck. 3) Rooms are ok, but there is no soap or shampoo in the dispensers. Bring your own. 4) This is my first time here. I have been to Kalahari, Great Wolf and Kartride many times and can see how unorganized, poorly maintained this place is. It is just awful. I have never wrote a bad review before, but hope this review can have an influence on someone's else decision on coming here. Please save yourself from ruining your weekend just like i did and learn on my mistake, go somewhere else. I don't understand how this place is still in operating.
