I was a little surprised to see as much Dr. Hauschka here as they carry since that's a line you can get at Whole Foods. It was also a surprise that as a shop specializing in makeup and skin care that they didn't appear to carry a sunscreen--and I mean an a product that was solely sunscreen, not a foundation or lip color with SPF 30 or something. Sunscreen is probably the most important thing one can use in their routine, but you wouldn't guess that at a shop focused on skincare? They have a LOT of scents here. It's a small shop and it can quickly become overwhelming, as well as hard to tell the perfumes apart. Both of us customers in store quipped about the lack of coffee beans, and learned that they had them once and when they spilled they stopped using them. I was curious about one but I wasn't able to tell what it truly smelled like since one of the other folks in the shop had sprayed several already. The person working gave me a little tester to take home, though, which I appreciated. I would give this store another whirl if I was in the area. But overall I was a bit disappointed in their skin care options and lack of detail (the missing sun protection). They have a lot of makeup here too but I didn't really look at that much (it was somewhat dark in the shop so I wouldn't have been able to see a true color anyway). The building is not accessible; there are several steps to get into the shop. It's street parking only.

She took her time and made sure I was comfortable and provided incredible service. Brooke was talking me through most of the things she was doing. The room you go into has classical music playing, a Velcro towel that you put on yourself before the facial and there's a small lamp in the corner that provides just enough light to make you feel relaxed. She gives a quick consultation and survey of your skin before she starts the facial to address your skin concerns. I would definitely come here again just for the incredible facial!

My daughter was the bride and she asks out loud "who's going to zip up your dress" really?.. who doesn't know that the mother zips the dress! Then the photographer and florist are on their way and I the MOB still has no makeup on; so I have to do my own! Then she asks if I need mine done knowing full well I just did my own makeup and says my daughter, the bride, has to pay for my appointment because I didn't cancel! Really? This place rules…read more First, a confession: I've been dying my own hair for years. The last time I went somewhere to get my hair done I left in tears - the chick totally ruined my hair. Fast forward years later, my hair is in need of a cut and color and I just didn't feel up to it. A friend of mine told me about Lola ( specifically Meghan), and I was feeling saucy and had a babysitter, so I called and booked an appointment. I ended up getting there too early, so I got some work done while I waited. It has a nice cool vibe there, and they feature jewelry to buy from local artists - how cool is that? Meghan is an adorable tall irish chick. She may or may not be an elf from Lord of the Rings. I'm not sure, because her skin is flawless and i'm pretty sure she doesn't age. She's a lot friendlier and happier than the elves from LotR though, so who knows. I told her of my past experience, and she made me feel comfortable right away. As I sat in the side room, tin foil in hair, hair cooking, thinking of the movie Signs, I got to sip a glass of red wine. I didn't even have to smuggle it in, they have wine for their customers. After your hair is rinsed out and shampooed they put conditioner in and then cover your head with a hot towel to help the conditioner soak in. While the hot towel is on you get a hand massage. The hand oil they have is awesome, it soaks in right away and made my hands feel super soft. As someone who constantly applies hand lotion, I was super impressed. After my hair was rinsed out I got to see it - and I loved it! It was exactly what I wanted. I felt SO relieved and happy that I went to Lola. As Meghan finished up by cutting my hair I watched the digital frame on her desk. The slideshow included Christine Hendricks and Karen Gillan, so Lola immediately gets 100 points for including Joan AND Amy Pond. I love how my hair turned out, and it's all thanks to Meghan. I'm so glad I decided to go to Lola and didn't let that other place deter me from all salons forever. Meghan, you are a lifesaver! If you call to book an appointment, ask for her, she rules. The guy working behind the counter was super nice too - even when you show up early enough to get some work done (free wifi for customers, woo!)

She didn't remove as much as I'm used to, however, I'm grateful for that bc I truly only wanted them to be cleaned up (which I did state that also). While there I interacted with Asha and Angie, both women were delightful and made me feel right at home. Pricing is reasonable, $7 for eye brow threading. Other services include: facials, waxing services, lash lifts, lash extensions and eye brow tinting. They also offer a punch card for eye brow services!! I'm very happy to have found my new go to brow spot and will be frequent here.

The billing experience was even worse. At checkout, I asked for my $78 haircut to be totaled at $100 (a $22 tip). Instead, a $100 tip was added -- bringing the total to $178, which is a 128% tip. This was done without any confirmation or verification on their end. I didn't realize the mistake until I checked my receipt days later, and the amount was so unreasonable that it felt dishonest. When I contacted the owner, Julie Campbell, I was told that a $78 refund had been issued. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the error. Because of the service issues and the incorrect charge, I cannot recommend this salon. Double-check your receipt before leaving.

Gretchen was extremely patient, helpful and sweet. She carefully helped me select a chain and charms I was happy with. She gave helpful suggestions but was in no way pushy and very happy to answer questions. I had brought my 7 year old son with me and she even explained the welding process to him as he was interested in that part and let him watch with her safety glasses! She really went above and beyond to make it a fun experience. I liked that nearly all chains are the same pricing--I believe $65 for a gold plated bracelet and $75 for an anklet (I believe the sterling silver were priced a bit less?) Charms are $15 and there was a lot to choose from. She was running a summer special at the time for $140 for an anklet, bracelet and ring which I thought was a great deal! Gretchen explained "the jewelry is as permanent as you'd like it to be" meaning it shouldn't tarnish but you can easily remove it with a pair or scissors or pliers if you decide to. She can reweld it back on you later if you like! I saw one other review say her jewelry tarnished and fell off fairly quickly. Gretchen did say she will reweld any jewelry that falls off. She also had several anklets and bracelets on that she had worn for a while that looked as good as new. I'm optimistic my jewelry will stand up to wear and tear but I'll try to update the review in a few months. I'm already planning a trip back with a girlfriend to get more bracelets added!!
