I climbed Gannett Peak with MAG in September of 2021. My guide was Seth, who has extensive climbing and guiding experience all over the world, including guiding on Mt Everest. Besides being a solid guide, Seth is a very friendly person. He's passionate about climbing and told me a lot of interesting stories from his expeditions around the world. I also wanted to use porter service since the approach is long (14-15 miles each way.) It so happened that Seth's wide Ashley was available to work as porter. Together Seth and Ashley make a powerful team that any climber would want to have in the mountains, especially for something like Gannett which is very demanding. We started our journey at Cold Springs located within the Wind River reservation. We took one long day to get to the basecamp beneath Gannett. The next day Seth and I made it to the summit. I was apprehensive about climbing the bergschrund and the icy Gooseneck couloir. But Seth made things easy for me. He used ice screws and rock anchors for safety and belayed me through the technical sections. Above the couloir and over the exposed ridge I was short roped. I felt safe the whole time. We made it to the top of Wyoming without any issues. The views from the summit? heavenly!! What an alpine paradise! Glaciers in all directions. The Wind River seems to stretch to infinity both the north and south. Once we were back at the camp, Seth gave me miso soup and tea. It felt awesome! We walked back to Cold Springs the next day, camping at the trailhead for the night. Seth cooked spaghetti with pasta sauce and sardines. It was one of the best trail dinners I ever had in my life. While we were in one of the most rugged areas of the US, the whole trip was super enjoyable. Seth and Ashley are a great team, and I really enjoyed their company and friendship. Was recently in Montana for an extended vacation. One of my friends recommended that I reach out to Montana Alpine Guides and schedule a full day of climbing w/ Montana Alpine Guides. Sam was my guide, and we spent a full day climbing in the Gallatin National Park (Skyline and The Waltz). Sam is a great guide who takes great care of his clients and runs a great business. Climbing with Sam was definitely a highlight of my trip. I felt safe the entire time, and Sam was just as stoked as I was the entire time. MAG has been such a positive experience, from booking our half day climb through a check in afterwards. My friend and I are new climbers, and between the front desk manager, Emily, and our guide, Sam, we knew we would be safe and well cared for. Our climbing location was changed last minute due to road closures. This was communicated through text, voice mail, and email, making both of us aware of our options. The directions to the new location were clear and easy to follow. We met Sam at the fancy new climbing area, called the Gallatin Spire. It is on the west side of the highway, across from House Rock. It was perfect. There were lots of choices for us, and after our climbing ability was assessed, we began. Sam gave us a quick run down of the gear. He also showed us the safety phone, or whatever it was, so that if anything happened, we could call for help. We climbed three pitches to the peak. Sam was constantly watching and giving us pointers and encouragement. From the top, we had the most beautiful view. Sam gave us beta on the routes across the river, explaining the entrance and exits for each one. We had snacks and water. The whole thing was wonderful. I would recommend Montana Alpine Guides to anyone. 100%. read more

Had a wonderful experience with Montana alpine guide, my friend and I tried out ice climbing with no previous experience with our guide Geoff. Geoff came prepared with the supplies we would need and extra jackets etc to keep us warm. It was wonderful to have everything taken care of, and our guides enthusiasm as well. Plus you are learning from an expert. The canyon in which we climbed was absolutely beautiful and the favorite part of my trip to Montana. I did an ice climbing trip with them and it was great! Loved my guide and the experience was something I'll remember forever! They supplied most everything you need and tailored the climb to my experience. You can go alone with your guide or open so that others can join your group (which helps offset the cost).
