Ordered/paid for boots Feb 2nd, never told they were on back order until April until I called…read morelooking for them. Informed of the back order when I called in March. Called again in April, told I would receive the boots on Monday. Called again in May and was told they could overnight the boots to me. Voiced my frustration and was told they can cancel the order or send the boots with a pair of socks. As the boots were a gift from my wife I took the boots....no socks were sent. 4 months for a pair of boots at $500.00 is tough to swallow and difficult to prepare for. Customer service that basically says take it leave it? And then they dont follow up with their own peace offering? Lots of options out there catering to the hunting community.....

This review is based only on the repair of my several Kenetrek boots by Carters…read more I have used this shop for many repairs. They are the only authorized repair shop for Kenetrek boots. Because of this I will no longer be wearing Kenetrek boots. I have had to many bad experiences to list. They messed up several times on jobs. No apologies, no we will fix it. Just excuses and attitude. If you do a complete resole including the urethane on Kenetrek boots they do not fit right after wards. I don't know why this is but I have had several friends have the same issue. Once again. No apologies, no we will fix it. Just excuses and attitude. The last resole I had done cost $170. After picking my jaw up from the floor I asked why and he said they now go over the complete boot, fix anything and give you new laces and insoles. Well, the laces were not as good as the ones that came with the boots and the repairs were just some sort of flexible paste smeared on the boot. The cordura part of the tongue was coming apart and I assumed there would be a professional repair, but all they did was smear this goop over it. It was very unprofessional looking and my $450 boots should not look like a two year old blew his nose on them. There were several spots around the rubber rock protector where it looked like they smeared the same goop. I am assuming there was some slight delamination and that was how they fixed it. Very sloppy. I would strongly recommend not using this store and not buying Kenetrek boots as a direct result of how their only repair facility handles their repairs.

I am so disappointed. Please if you love Kenetreks as I do... just buy new ones @ 185 dollars. To rebuild and look like trash.

Okay, this is a longer one but as an avid thrifter and experienced (and fair) reseller myself, I…read morethink that this place necessitates a particular conversation. My thoughts- I've stopped into Second Wind a few times over the years in search of gear/clothing for personal use, but have consistently walked away disappointed if not empty-handed because their pricing is exorbitant and stupidly inflated, and I have no shame in using that sort of verbiage. An example from today that caught me so off guard I did some research, subsequently leading me to writing this review- a heavily used & visibly stained/faded Patagonia vest listed at $115, which is $16 less than the retail price on Patagonia's own website ($131). In my opinion and personal experience, this is not an isolated case- a lot of their merchandise is significantly worn, sometimes even dirty, and still priced like it's barely been used. While I did find and purchase a cute pair of pants that were reasonably priced and in good shape today, it unfortunately doesn't negate the general pattern of overpricing. Selling gear in highly used and rough condition for near-retail prices undermines the whole point of secondhand shopping and if we're being honest, many locals have access to outdoor industry discounts that include the benefit of full warranties. Trying to resell deeply used gear at near-retail prices just feels exploitative in that context. Even online secondhand platforms like Depop tend to be far more equitably priced and transparent about quality. I'm all for supporting secondhand and local businesses, but not when it starts to feel greedy and borderline shady. Pricing like this erodes trust and defeats the purpose of resale. There are more transparent, affordable, and community-minded options out there-- please shop around.

This is my favorite place to hit up first anytime I come to Bozeman. I always find something amazing. Their boots & bottom layers selections are particularly good.

The store is everything outdoors on steroids (like Mark McGuire Sammy Sosa 1998 home run battle steroids)- hey, it was fun times! It is fun times at this store. It has everything a male or female from my perspective could want: bikes, hiking gear, skiing gear, camping, storage, camp cooking supplies, folks were talking the whole kit and caboodle. This specific store had great customer service during my visits here, during those visits I've purchased two pairs of hiking shoes, socks and hydration pack. During one visit they where hosting a yoga class. Go figure! The location is on the booming development side of town in Bozeman and there are plenty other shops and eateries. Its is outdoors and you need it you will find it here!
