Staff was friendly but food was a D-. Steak had no flavor and than i grabbed the steak sauce which should not be used if meat is cooked correctly, it was completely empty. We stopped their on 4/11/2026 at 5:25 thinking we had plenty of time to eat before going to the Tim Hawkins concert 5 minutes away. I should have figured out something was wrong when at 5:45 we didn't have water yet. When our order was taken at 5:53 we felt better about getting our food in plenty of time. At 6:10 our poor waitress, who was awesome, came to our table to apologized because we didn't have our salad yet, she said if she had time she would go back and make our salad herself. I was apprehensive about trying Montana Mike's due to some pretty poor reviews. But I decided I'd form my own opinion. I'm glad I did. I went about 6:00 on a Monday evening so they weren't very busy at all. The waitress promptly took my drink and appetizer order and brought them out in a timely manner. I ordered a ribeye steak with loaded baked potato and Caesar salad. I like my steak med-rare but due to my experience at other restaurants and after reading reviews of over-cooked steaks here, I ordered it rare. When it showed up the steak was a perfect rare, the potato had generous toppings and the Caesar salad was excellent. The steak was delicious as was the potato. The fried pickle appetizer was good too. If I had to nitpick something I'd say the roll they brought when they took my order was not fresh. But still decent. Other than that I'm pleased with my experience. I visited with the manager for a few minutes after he stopped by my table to make sure everything was to my liking. He was a nice guy that seemed to be working hard to improve the quality of food and service after previous management had let it go downhill for a period of time. Big shout out to the team at Montana Mikes tonight! And the last couple times we've been in! I'll back up. We ate there several times 6-7 years ago and it was just not good so we never went back. Then not long ago I heard they were much better now, under new management or something, I honestly don't remember exactly. Anyway we decided to give them another try because honestly how much Mexican food can one eat lol and that and fast food are about the only options for dinner in Miami. So glad we gave them another try! The service has been fantastic every time, even including having the manager come by our table several times. Tonight the 14oz Cajun ribeye was on point! One of the better steaks I've had in a very long time. I especially loved that it was a thicker cut and was oh so tender and flavorful! The grilled shrimp on top were cooked perfectly too. Hubby's steak was also great tonight. All of the sides we've had recently have been excellent as well and the rolls are freshly baked and delicious. They were closing at 7pm tonight for their company Christmas party and the manager made sure to come by right about that time to tell us to take our time eating and that the party didn't start until 8:00. We were done sooner but it was really nice to know we weren't being rushed out. Also as we were leaving four employees besides our server told us to have a great night and Merry Christmas! Even if the food wasn't as good we would come back just because the staff has been so great and that's hard to find lately! It had a lot of grissle, was supposed to be medium-rate, but one side was rare and the other side medium. Chicken breast was small & dry. No flavor. We choked down our meals without making a fuss, but we won't be returning. Waitress was super sweet & attentive. She did mention our disappointment to the manager, even though we told her not to, that it was no big deal (we just wanted out of there at that point) and came back to tell us the manager wasn't going to do anything about our food since we were already eating it. Raved about them to the friend we took with us. They were awful! Soggy, mushy & not the breading as before. Ugh. We had a french dip, and had to ask for the au jus. Reaction to taste was "weird". Also had steak, caesar salad & green beans. Had to ask for the salad when they brought the dinner. Steak was cooked perfectly. After 10 hours on the road and with both of our blood sugars bottoming out we saw a sign and decided to stop. This restaraunt is plain on the outside is not fancy on the inside so it not impressive at all. We decided to order a full rack of ribs and split it. We each picked a side to share. I chose a baked potato and my husband chose the cinnamon apples. When they brought the platter of food we were pleasantly surprised. The ribs were plentiful and so good. Stopped in for lunch Saturday afternoon after hearing that it was under new management and wanted to try it out. Noticed the outside looks so much better than before. Nothing new, just much cleaner and doesn't look like a run down building...when I moved here I didn't even think the place was still open it looked so bad. Server did a really good job for the pressure he must have. I'm a server/bartender and can't imagine how stressful it must be to know that for the past few years the restaurant you work at is known to be...bad. I ordered a strawberry drink they had advertised (don't remember the name) and it was really good. Beer was good and cold. I ordered the beef tips medium rare and they came out well done... I couldn't eat them. However it is possible the server misheard me and I'm just not the complaining type. The rice was good! My boyfriend ordered the messy burger and it was really good! Rolls were crazy good! I hadn't been to this Montana Mikes before management switched so I can't say what's changed, but the staff really did seem like they were working hard and even though I couldn't really enjoy my food I think it's worth giving another shot! My companions wanted the Sunday chicken dinner special, so we arrived shortly after opening. The employees manning the hostess stand were very pleasant and seated us quickly. I ordered the sirloin quesadilla, which is more of an appetizer, I think, but is certainly large enough to be an entree for one person. It was tasty enough, but the filling stopped far short of the edges, leaving a large border of empty tortilla. My companions noted that their chicken was greasier than when they were there for Father's Day. The complementary rolls were outstanding, and came with plenty of butter. Overall, the food was average, but did not indicate a lot of attention to details in the kitchen, and the building could use some attention to address the tarp-covered leaks in the back room. The floor was very slick (greasy?), a clear slip and fall hazard. I would give our experience, food and atmosphere-wise, 2 stars, but I'm throwing in another star because of our waiter, Ronnie. He did an excellent job of tending to us, and was impressively friendly and professional. We walked into Montana Mike's steakhouse, and I joked to my husband this must be Magic Mike's retirement plan, that he Went to seed, retired from stripping, and started a restaurant. There was absolutely zero seasoning on that steak, it was half fat and gristle, and when I told the waitress they gave me half off my dinner, I guess because I ate the side salad and the sweet potato. First of all we were seated far away - as far as you can get from everyone. Maybe this was due to covid? So my girlfriend was cold - I was fine I took off my jacket.. I ordered steak tips on rice - it was like a child's portion. The side of mushrooms was not hot - that turned me off but I ate them. The side of broccoli was very good. The waitress gave us decent service until the end and we wondered where she was. So I got up and asked another girl for a to go "box" - the waitress eventually arrived with it - styrofoam of course. Then for some reason it took a while to get the check so I walked over to the front area and paid it there. Things seemed a little disorganized - I think they close at 9pm which is too early in my opinion. Another ironic thing was she brought us Heinz 57 sauce in the bottle which I prefer, but she brought the A1 steak sauce in the little plastic containers. The food was good in general but too small of a portion for me. The service was pretty good at first but not up to par.
