Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness - 3/5 We're new-ish members to the club and are not golfers, so sorry that I can't give much insight to that (beyond noting they've been taking a lot of effort to improve the greens). Rather, we do the swim and social. The pool is great. You have access to a large menu and snacks (and most important, beer!), a kid's pool, a water slide, pool basketball hoop. Occasionally they have a grill and cook up some burgers and dogs. People are really friendly there and it's easy to meet new friends and have your kids play with their peers. The one issue is that the hours the snack bar is open are inconsistent. The pool itself is nice and big. The club is a bit old school, but it does create a nice homey atmosphere. The food is very good, I haven't been disappointed by anything I've had there. I like their potstickers in particular. The staff is also nice and accommodating. I wish they had a wider selection of alcohol and beer (it's pretty limited - seriously, Blue Moon is one of the top options!), but they've been introducing seasonal cocktails that are pretty fun. Hopefully they will continue to expand the size of the menu and the offerings at the bar. read more

Not worth it. $70 for 18 and a cart, but even if it was $40 it would be hard to justify. I should've taken photos but holes 1-8 greens were terrible. 2 of them had big patches that were actually very torn up and dark brown dead. Overall the greens were bad. Holes 9-18 had some better greens with 3-4 looking good, but that's not a good percentage. The fairways also were super narrow with dense forests so if you didn't hit perfectly straight you'd lose your ball. The range wasn't anything nice and the clubhouse store was lacking organization. After our round we went inside to the restaurant/bar but they had 1 girl working all tables and bar. She said she'd be right with us but 10min later still not even a water. We ended up leaving after 3 guys walked in after us, sat near us at the bar, and she took their drink orders and brought food before we got anything or asked anything. It's besides me how this place continues to run and be open. This is not part of the Montclair Property Owner's Association and residents still have to pay memberships. It's clearly advertised/endorsed my MPOA and vice versa, some inside drug deal between the two. This club is the reason the community gets to call itself a golfing community; however the greens leave SO much to be desired. They're pitiful. The management at this club is incompetent and half the time unreachable. The pool, which is pitiful itself and sometimes closed without notice, is open only during the summer yet they no longer offer pool memberships just for the summer. You have to commit for a year, pay $150 processing fee (I'd love to know what kind of strenuous work this entails, other than a few strokes of the keyboard on a computer), yet the pool is only open in the summer. How does that even make sense? What am I paying for for the rest of the year? How have Montclair residents not spoken up about this club and demand better amenities or accountability. Walked around the club last week, completely empty. Nobody to entertain a question to. The appearance of this place is run down and in desperate need of a new investor to spruce it up. So much potential, wasted. When the lake is filled with e-coli the majority of the time and not swimmable, this pool could be a gold mine to the community, but it needs a lot of work. Work that the current owner is currently not up for the task to conduct . Golfing...you're not getting anything with your membership. Still have to rent the cart and pay for things. You're basically paying for the "privilege". There are so many better communities. Montclair alone leaves a lot to be desired, the club is just another example. read more

Over the summer I noticed the pool and pool area conditions to have deteriorated. The pool and concrete around the pool is in horrible conditions. The chairs are extremely dirty (unsanitary), most of the umbrellas a broken (not even close to having enough of them). Not to mention the pool tiles missing, stains in the concrete, cracked pool walls. Now weeds growing through the concrete cracks? Fence falling apart, kids pool gate broken, HORRIBLE food/drink service. Debris all over the place. Please tell me someone at Montclair management has some form of decency and sense of professionalism to recognize how bad things have gotten at Monclair Country Club Pool. Anything planned to be done to do required major maintenance and remodeling in pool? Feels like Montclair takes the funds from pool membership and only invests in the upkeep of golfing. Really bad business. That should be a Prince William County inspector visit to observe the unsanitary and dangerous pool conditions. Over the weekend, ordered salads that came without any dressing. Spinach tasted like detergent. Took 1.5 hours to get drinks. 150/month is a lot of money for such horrible conditions/service. read more

We joined earlier this summer for the swim and social membership. It's like $80/month for the year plus a required $250 a quarter in food. The pool is serviceable and the basketball hoop and slide are fun. You can use floaties which is nice and not always allowed at pools nearby. The problem is poor communication, management, and extremely outdated facilities. When we joined the membership coordinator, Ramona, was kind and made it sound like there were lots of family events we could be included in. After joining we get random emails (with seemingly no planned marketing campaign) talking cryptically in acronyms about golf tournaments that we have no idea about. Similarly, we got a late notification about a Fourth of July family gold cart parade but the email wasn't clear so I had to call and email and the staff told me the carts had been reserved weeks in advance so we missed out. How could we have known? Such a weird and uninviting "club" to join only to be left out in the dark about ways to get involved. They need a membership coordinator who will help new and existing members participate equally. Twice at the pool, as soon as we arrived, with my infant, we were told the baby pool was closed because the chemicals were off. Scary, and a waste of our time to make the trek only to have to leave. The main pool doesn't have an accessible zero entry point so you're out of luck if you're hoping to swim as a family and your kids can't do 3' yet. Once, I asked a a girl working at the concession stand to hold my daughter and hand her to me as I got in and she kindly assisted. The pool is closed regularly for swim meets on Saturday's and doesn't open until 1pm. Finally, the pool closed yesterday for 45 min because of lightning, (which we didn't see but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt). We killed time in the neighborhood and returned 45 min later only to see it locked up, no sign in site. Sky was perfectly clear and it didn't rain until after midnight! The clubhouse looks like it was decorated in 1983 with a smell that matches. All in all if you're desperate for a pool, this is your place- but they have LOTS of room to improve, and it wouldn't be too hard to show you care. read more

Typically I avoid rating any small business negatively, but today I'm absolutely appalled at the treatment I received. We have in previous years bought a summer pool memberships or we've come as guests of long standing members. Being a Montclair resident it's very ideal and I've always highly recommended the club to other families in our established neighborhood as well. So today I went in to purchase my families summer pool membership, which I've spent a week trying to do, to be met with discrimination on what a family "should" look like by Romana, the woman who handles memberships. In the last year we had the privilege to move my grandmother into our home, so obviously I need to put her on as a member of my family, so she can take her great grandchildren when I'm unavailable. Romana though absolutely refused such a thing because a family pool membership only allows 2 adults. I get having limits to avoid people from taking advantage, but she resides in the same home as myself. In previous years I know many families who have been able to put people such as the babysitter on with no push back, but this year Romana was dead set that we can only be a 2 adult unit. If I signed a contract as a pool and social member she could be lenient, but that requires paying $150 processing fee, $69 a month, and promising to spend $150 a month on food.... and this wouldn't allow my husband to even golf once in awhile. It was a crappy tactic to take advantage of my family and I refused to even go for it. For $600 I don't see how a family of 3 adults, 2 children is any different than a family of 2 adults, 3 children. At least with 3 adults we would spend more money ordering food and drinks from the restaurant while enjoying the pool. With that said I went and paid $425 at the other neighborhood pool and there was absolutely no hassle or discrimination. The only difference is I will now have an extra hour of swim time, multiple family events to attend, and I have to bring my own food and drinks.... so overall I saved a lot of money thanks to Romana being a horrid woman. And when we do get a golf membership next spring we will be avoiding the horrible greens here and going to Fairfax because I won't support a small business that discriminates! read more

We've been members of the Montclair Country Club for only about a year now (just prior to COVID), and have been woefully unimpressed with not only their menu but also the food quality. I'm not sure what is going on but it needs a drastic improvement. As for the pool, it's OK, but the bathrooms need to be updated and the pool needs attention, too. The kids working there also need to learn to wipe down pool chairs and whatnot before they set them out, and again when one family leaves and before another one arrives. It's something that doesn't take much time to do and will prevent patrons from having to wipe, say, dried bird poop off pool chairs themselves. (Yep. I did that this past summer.) All in all the whole place seems outdated and needs a complete overhaul and better management. Not sure we will renew our membership when the time comes next year. read more
