If privacy is what you're looking for when staying here at Popp's Motel. It is pure Zen! The rooms are cozy and have private apartment features for long term stays. My room was cute, had a a fully furnished and equip kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom with a bathtub. I heard some of the rooms are different however my stay at Popp's Motel was relaxing and comfortable. Not your average hotel/motel pure old Keys style.

Our daughter was recently married here and we did a full three-night resort buyout. While the property itself is absolutely stunning the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. We unpacked the U-Haul when we got home and had cockroaches in a few of the things stored in the main house.

Visiting the keys, we had the pleasure to stay at David and Daphne Cook's vacation property. Conch Key Villas sports three units: Two down stairs and one upstairs unit. Located in the middle keys, it is a great location to see all the sites along the Keys. We took a trip down to Key west easily for the day and also headed up to Islamorada one day without trouble. We stayed in the North, downstairs unit and my goodness what a cute and cozy studio that was well appointed and very nicely decorated. Newer, updated appliances, (fridge, stone, microwave) and comfortable king bed rounded out the fully stoked kitchen cupboards. What is so nice is that you can cook in or go out and make a blend of whatever suits your fancy. With a plethora of good eats nearby, your Yelp app will easily point you in the right direction to a good meal. Walking out the back door you will see multiple docks to park your boat or a rental. Fish of all sizes swimming back in forth, playing tag under the docks and in the shadows. Fishing off the dock is easy and fruitful. (just don't forget to buy a license!) There's a dedicated bait freezer on property along with an industrial, stand-alone ice maker for your needs. On the south side of the property you'll find the comfortable and cool "bar" area sporting bar stools and a grill for cooking your catch, you can relax on one of the hammocks, play some darts or just sit and relax while soaking up some sun while your food cooks. All in all, we had a delightful stay. David was spot on with any communication and was easy to work with. I can give CKVs my highest recommendation and can assure that you will not be disappointed.

There are 5 houses located on the property and we rented all 5 (for a reasonable price!). This allowed us to have the entire property to ourselves (which isover 2 acres) and it also allowed us to have people stay right on property with their own space. We were able to have a full weekend of fun. On Friday we had people over that were already in the area for a cookout on the beach. We used one of the speakers on property to connect our music to and just had a relaxing time. On Saturday we had our reception and Bryan and Meegan setup the tables and lights just how we wanted them. The reception was perfect - everyone could be spaced out and sit and relax wherever they wanted to on the property; using the hammock, sitting under one of the many tiki huts, at the beautiful bar, or just relaxing near the beach. On Sunday we had people come back by to use the facilities. There are kayaks, paddleboards, and sand toys that we used. We also bought a couple fishing poles and were able to catch fish right off the dock (you caught a fish everytime you threw your line in!). Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a nice relaxing time. We saw a shark, many fish, manatees, and dolphins. We will definitely be back for family trips! Many people that commented that they wanted to rent the whole place out for vacations as well. Meegan and Bryan did a fantastic job checking in on our needs and making sure everything was going well for us and our guests. If we needed anything they were quick to assist and gave us great advice on where to eat and things to see and do.

As long as we didn't look down, it was ok. We had a desk, dresser drawers, a fridge, a safe, a microwave, coffee maker, ironing board and iron, a roomy closet, and a private shower/toilet with door. The sink was next to the entry. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Everything worked fine. The swimming pool in the back could use updating and was only 3 ft deep even though in the middle it said 4 ft. I knew it wasn't 4 ft because I am 5'6", and it came to my waist. It's not cold when you get in. There were chaise lounges available with small tables. The private beach area is small but very nice. There were paddle boards and kayaks available. People were swimming and sunbathing. Next door was Snook's restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there was a shortcut to it near the pool. Great food and ambiance at Snook's. Bayside does take good care of the rooms, and Shari was outstanding with her customer service.

I am grateful the office staff was understanding and agreed to cancel our stay and refund my "first nights stay deposit". So sorry we had to find somewhere else to spend the last leg of our Florida vacation. The reviews for this property were great and really looked forward to staying here.

The entire property was renovated with high-end materials, furnishings and decor. We got The Beach front cottages next to each others, some good friends of ours traveled with my husband and myself. It was perfect. Very low-key. They recommended Midway café, and oh my gosh, such a great find! Maybe a 3 to five minute walk from the cottages! They also gave us recommendations and I don't remember the name. We walked across the street for dinner the first night the second night we Uber to another place down the road. We'll be back!

Pines and Palms retirement community!…read more We've stayed here for a few years and always had a great experience... last year (2024) we were told that the resort would undergo a renovation and would be featured on HGTV's Restoration Island. We were excited about the new changes and rebooked for 2025. Fast forward to 2025, we arrived and were pleasantly surprised by the new look! the property looks great! Now to the bad.... the pool/bar. The property doesn't have a liquor license. therefore, if you like anything other than beer, you're out of luck. If you do happen to have a preloaded yeti with your favorite mixed drink, watch out! The pool boy will promptly call you out and ask you to stow it. Additionally, at 8pm the pool closes !!!!! No evening dips. I was told that was due to no attendant present. However, the beach is still open and "swim at your own risk" as if that's safer at night.... seems as if the unavailability to charge you $10 for a drink has out weighed your ability to use the pool. Additionally, pines and palms charter is no longer here, I was told the boat was sold, I was given a number to a captain that provides services to the resort, snorkeling/fishing and such. That person doesn't answer... You're better off going elsewhere. In the end, I'm sitting here writing a review while at the resort at 9pm, disappointed. It's a bummer, this place was a hidden gem.

Key Colony is a beautiful area, there is live music at the park at the end of Ocean Drive and a restaurant you can walk to. We liked the friendly atmosphere, especially the first couple of years, but for the money we can get more space, especially more space between our unit and the pool. It's a great little place for a short-term stay in the keys.
